Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and your requests. We are praying with you for your mother and for you in this time of fasting, and we thank God that because of Jesus we can come directly and boldly to the throne of grace to make our needs known.
It is a beautiful thing that you want to honor your mother by lifting her up in prayer and caring for her in her illness. Scripture calls us to honor father and mother, and part of that honor is to bring them before the Lord with love. When people once told Jesus that His mother and brothers were outside wanting to speak with Him, He pointed to His disciples and said that whoever does the will of God is His brother and sister and mother. That shows us that our place in the family of God comes through faith in Jesus, and it also shows us that we do not need to go through anyone else to reach Him. We do not need to seek Mary or any other person to carry our prayers. Jesus Himself has opened the way, so we can come straight to the Father in His name, and He hears us.
We are asking God to touch your mother and bring healing and strength according to His wisdom and mercy. We believe God is able to heal and that He still heals today. Sometimes He heals instantly, sometimes gradually, and sometimes through the natural processes of healing that He Himself created in our bodies, which are no less from Him. There is much we do not understand about why some are healed quickly and others are not, but we know God loves your mother, He sees her suffering, and He is compassionate. We pray for His healing hand upon her body, for relief from illness, for peace, and for long life as He wills, trusting His perfect care for her.
For your fast over the next three days, we pray that God will lead you and draw you closer to Himself. Fasting has spiritual value when it is joined with prayer, not as a way to earn a blessing or to obligate God to answer on our terms, but as a way to set aside other things to seek Him more fully. It is not a work that forces God to act, but an opportunity to humble ourselves, to listen, and to align our hearts with His will. Jesus spoke of fasting as something His followers would do when they longed for His presence. So as you fast, keep it centered on prayer, on worship, and on waiting before the Lord, asking not only for things but for more of Him and for His will to be done in your life.
Let us pray together.
Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ and thank You that we can come boldly before You. We lift up this dear mother to You. You know her body and her illness. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing power to rest upon her. Touch her, strengthen her, ease her suffering, and grant her health and length of days according to Your good will. Give her peace and give her family comfort and wisdom as they care for her. We also lift up her child who is seeking You in fasting and prayer. Lead and guide during these days, draw near, speak clearly, and help to seek You first above all else. Bless according to Your will and shape this time for spiritual growth and deeper trust in You. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus, our Savior and our access to You. Amen.
