God, heal me as I forgive.

Himani2

Disciple of Prayer
Dear God,

The Bible teaches us to forgive those who sin against us. I am trying to forgive, but there is a question in my heart. If the person who hurt me receives forgiveness and continues to laugh and live happily, then what about me? Will my life be filled only with pain and waiting?

Lord, if I forgive someone, please heal my wounds too. I do not want anything bad for the person who hurt me, but please do something good in my life too. Let me also experience happiness, love, peace, respect, and a good life.

I am Your child too. Please do not make me feel that the person who forgives is left empty-handed. If You teach me to forgive others, then please also heal my broken heart and bless my life.

Let my tears not be wasted. Do something good for me so that one day I can look back and say that my waiting and pain were not meaningless.

Amen.

We hear the deep honesty in your heart and we join with you in bringing this pain before the Lord, for what you are feeling is something many of God's children have felt. You are trying to obey God in forgiving, and at the same time you are wondering if your obedience will leave you empty while the one who hurt you moves on without consequence. We want to assure you that God does not ask you to forgive and then abandon you to carry the wound alone.

The Word teaches us to forgive because forgiveness frees our own heart from bitterness and keeps us close to the Father. Jesus said in Matthew 6:14-15, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. And in Ephesians 4:32 we are told to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Forgiveness does not mean what was done to you was right, and it does not mean the other person will not give an account to God. Scripture is clear in Romans 12:19, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. God sees all things perfectly and His justice is not missed even when people appear to laugh and live happily for a season.

What you are asking for is exactly what God desires to do for you, to heal you as you forgive. He does not leave the one who forgives empty handed. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit in Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3. Your tears are not wasted or forgotten, for you put my tears into your bottle. Are they not in your record in Psalm 56:8. Your waiting and pain are not meaningless, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose in Romans 8:28. God promises a future and a hope in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

We also noticed your prayer was addressed to God but did not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly share why His name matters so deeply. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and assurance that our prayers are heard and our sins are forgiven. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be healed and to forgive with God's help, we first come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ, believing He died for our sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord. If you have not yet placed your trust fully in Jesus, we encourage you to do so today, for in Him you become a true child of God and His healing and peace become yours.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Your child who is choosing to forgive even while hurting. Lord, You see every wound, every tear, every sleepless night and every question in the heart. We ask You to heal the broken heart and bind up every wound. Pour out Your peace which surpasses all understanding to guard the heart and mind in Christ Jesus as promised in Philippians 4:7. Let this dear one know that forgiveness does not leave them empty, but opens the door for Your restoration. Replace mourning with joy and ashes with beauty as You promise in Isaiah 61:3. Bring happiness, love, peace, respect and goodness into this life in Your perfect way and timing. Let the waiting not be in vain, but use it to shape, strengthen and prepare for the good plans You have. Help to keep forgiving as You have forgiven us, not by our own strength but by Your Spirit. And let there come a day when this pain can be looked back upon with thanksgiving, seeing how You redeemed it and did not waste a single tear. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our healer and hope, Amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing your honest questions to God, to stay in His Word daily, and to allow Him to fill the places that hurt with His presence. God is not asking you to pretend the pain is not there, He is inviting you to let Him heal it as you release the debt to Him. He is your Father too, and He will not forget you. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning in Psalm 30:5. Keep forgiving, keep seeking Him, and trust that He will do something good in your life that reflects His love and faithfulness.

We hear the honesty in your prayer, and the question underneath it, if you choose forgiveness, will you be the one left carrying the pain while life goes on for someone else.

That fear makes sense. Choosing to forgive is a real decision of the will, and healing in the heart often moves on a slower timeline. It is normal to have made the decision and still feel wounded, still be waiting for peace to catch up. God is not disappointed in you for feeling that tension. He sees you as His child too, and your tears matter to Him.

You said you don't want harm for the other person, you just want your own life to also know goodness, love and peace. That is a good and honest desire to bring to Him. He does not ask you to forgive and then leave you empty-handed. He invites you to keep bringing both parts to Him, the release of the debt and the request for your own healing.

One thing that has helped others is to keep that honest prayer going in a simple daily way, not just once, and to let one trusted pastor or mature believer know you are walking this road so the waiting is not so lonely.

Father, we lift this heart to You in Jesus' name. You see every tear and You know this pain. We ask You to gently heal what is broken, to give peace that steadies each day, and to lead this life into Your good purposes. Let this waiting not be wasted, and show Your nearness and care in tangible ways. Amen.

I want my blessing in this life itself. I have suffered enough, and I don’t want to wait for happiness in another life. I want to experience my blessing, peace, and happiness here, in this very life.

Your prayer has been heard, and it is a tender and honest cry before the Lord. You are seeking to obey His command to forgive, and at the same time you are asking what many wounded hearts have asked, whether in forgiving you will be left with only pain while another goes on happily. The Lord does not leave such a question unanswered.

Think of the man in Luke chapter five who was carried by his friends and laid before Jesus. He lay there helpless, hoping and expecting forgiveness and healing. His heart was heavy within him, pressed down with a great load, and he could only lie before the Savior. That is where you are now, lying before Jesus with a broken heart and asking Him to take the load away. Your heartbeats are vocal to His heart and He notes all you say and feel in your inmost soul.

Scripture teaches us that forgiveness comes first, and then healing follows. Jesus said to that man, thy sins are forgiven thee, and afterward He made him whole. So it is with you. When you forgive for Christ's sake, you are not left empty handed. The God who says, there is forgiveness with thee, is the same God who binds up the broken hearted. He has not taught you to forgive and then forgotten to heal.

You asked that your tears not be wasted and that your waiting not be meaningless. Be assured, the Lord gathers your tears and He sees your waiting. He is not a God who blesses the one who does wrong and despises the one who obeys. He is the Healer of broken hearts, and best of all He has chosen One whose own heart was broken to heal yours. Jesus died of a broken heart that your broken heart might be bound up. Bring your poor broken heart to the heart that was once pierced, and find sweetest rest there.

There is hope for you, for there is One who can heal your broken heart. The psalmist prayed, that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. When faith and hope feel broken within you, that is the very place where Christ comes to set the broken bones and make them rejoice again.

Do not think that forgiveness means your pain does not matter to God. It matters deeply. To forgive as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you is not to lose your life but to open your hands to receive His life in return. He will not leave the forgiving soul without comfort. He gives peace that passes understanding, love that does not fail, and respect and goodness that come from His own hand in His own time and way.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would forgive you as you forgive, and then heal you thoroughly. May He lift the heaviness from your spirit, quiet your anxious thoughts, restore joy to your heart, and bless your life with His presence, His peace, and His provision. May He turn your waiting into testimony, so that one day you will look back and say, the Lord has done good unto me and my pain was not in vain. May He keep you tender toward Him, give you a heart to perceive His mercy, and let you know that with Him there is both forgiveness and full healing.

Amen.

Your prayer has come before God and He has not turned away from it. You are trying to obey Him in forgiving, even while your heart is still bleeding, and you ask a faithful question. Will the one who forgives be left with nothing while the one who caused the wound goes on as before.

Hear what Scripture says. A broken and a contrite heart God will not despise. That kind of heart does not rise up to strike back and does not demand vengeance for itself, but waits quietly for the Lord to act. This is the heart you are offering Him now, and He receives it.

The Lord Jesus said, take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Forgiveness feels heavy at first, but it is the yoke Christ Himself carried, and He carries it with you so that it does not crush you.

Do not think your tears are wasted or unseen. The forgiveness you offer does not mean God ignores what was done to you, and it does not mean the other person's present ease is the final word. We see in the lives of the saints that the blessing is not always given at once in this life. Jacob spent many years in hardship and danger, and said few and evil have been the days of my life, while his brother lived in ease for a time, yet the true blessing was kept for what was to come. So it is with you. God keeps what is yours.

You ask Him to heal your wounds and to give you happiness, love, peace and respect. Know that His first and greatest blessings are spiritual. You have been made a child of God, forgiven in Christ, made an heir with Him. In this world you will have tribulation, as Christ said, but those spiritual blessings cannot be taken from you. This does not mean He does not care about your daily sorrow. He does. He is the physician who does not abandon the sick, but continues to apply healing even when the cure seems slow. Sometimes a tree receives many blows and does not fall, and then one more brings it down. So the many prayers and the many acts of forgiveness that seem to bear no fruit are still working, softening and healing the root, and in His time the fruit will appear.

Therefore do not be troubled that another seems to laugh while you wait. God must fulfill His promises, and none of His words will fail. He will not leave the one who forgives empty handed. He will heal the broken heart, He will give peace that is not dependent on another person's response, and He will in His wisdom give you good things in this life and perfect fullness in the life to come.

I pray for you now, that the Lord who alone saves through Jesus Christ would comfort you, bind up your wounds, give you rest in your soul, keep your heart from bitterness, and let you one day look back and see that not one tear was forgotten and not one act of obedience was in vain. May He fill you with His love and peace, and lead you into the life and wholeness He has promised to those who trust Him. Amen.

God hears the honest cry in your prayer and He does not leave the one who forgives empty handed. The question you are asking is a real one and it comes from a wounded heart, and God wants to meet you in that place.

Forgiveness is not a ritual or words that are spoken outwardly. God looks at the heart. What He desires is a true work inside, a clean heart and a right spirit. When you choose to forgive, even while you are still hurting, you are opening your heart to Him so He can do that inward work. He sees the tears, He knows the cost, and He does not despise a broken and contrite heart. The forgiveness you offer to another does not mean your pain is ignored or that the other person's happiness is the end of the story.

The very desires you have expressed for healing, for happiness and love and peace and respect and a good life, are not selfish. God Himself places those right desires in the heart of His child. It is He who works in you both to will and to do what pleases Him. He put that yearning there, and He is faithful to work out how it will be fulfilled. Your pleasure in wanting wholeness comes from His desire to make you whole. You can trust that the One who gave you the desire will also bring about His good purpose in your life.

Your healing will come as an inward work of His Spirit. Like David, you can ask Him to create in you a clean heart and to heal the broken places so that joy can return. That is the more excellent way He gives, not a show or a quick outward fix, but a deep and lasting change inside. When you cast your burden upon the Lord, He sustains you. He is near to those who are brokenhearted, and He saves those who are crushed in spirit. Your tears are not wasted. He collects them and He uses even this season of waiting and pain for good.

Waiting on God is not meaningless. To know His grace is to know His peace in your heart even before every circumstance changes. He has established a new covenant with you through Jesus Christ that cannot be broken. He has promised to circumcise your heart to love Him and to live before Him, and that promise will stand. Be patient as you wait for Him to work in His time, confident that He is working. He will not forget His child.

You do not need to wish harm on the one who hurt you to be healed yourself. You have done right to not seek that. Now ask the Lord to do a good and healing work in you, to restore what has been broken, to give you peace and to bless your life in the way that only He can. He is able to bring you to a place where one day you will look back and see that He was carrying you all along and that nothing you entrusted to Him was in vain. May He heal your wounds as you walk in forgiveness, and may He fill your life with His love and peace through Jesus Christ alone.
