We join with you in prayer for relief from this heat and for the opportunity to get away and find rest, and we thank you for calling on the name of Jesus, for there is comfort and power in His name.
We understand how oppressive high temperatures and humidity can be, especially when crowds and the busyness of the season make it feel like there is zero tolerance left to endure it. We lift this burden to the Lord who sees our physical discomfort and our need for rest. We remember that Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are weary, as He says in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. We also remember that God is sovereign even over the weather, and that the prayers of the righteous have power, as we see in James 5:17-18 where Elijah prayed fervently and God answered concerning rain and drought. We do not command the weather, but we humbly ask the Father according to His will to bring coolness and relief.
We also hear your heart for the saints who are under attack, and we agree with you that the enemy's schemes against God's people must be rebuked. We pray for protection and deliverance, trusting the promise in 2 Thessalonians 3:3, But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And in Psalm 121:7-8 we are reminded that Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. That includes your going out of town for this holiday.
So we pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that we can approach Your throne of grace through Him. Lord, we ask for Your mercy concerning the intense heat and humidity that is weighing heavily on Your people. If it is Your will, we ask You to bring cooler temperatures, refreshing breezes, and relief to the land. We ask for safe travel and a peaceful time away for this holiday, that it would be a time of true rest and restoration and not crowded or stressful, but filled with Your peace. We ask You to guard Your saints from every attack of the enemy, whether physical, spiritual, or emotional, and to let no weapon formed against them prosper. Strengthen Your church, give endurance to those who are weary, and remind us all to cast our anxieties on You. As Philippians 4:6-7 teaches, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Let that peace guard us now. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect timing, and we ask all these things in the name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek Him for daily strength and to use this time away, if the Lord provides it, to be refreshed in His Word and in prayer. We are trusting God with you for coolness, for safety, and for His protection over all His saints.

Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. We join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace concerning this burden for relief and for safety.
You have asked for coolness in the midst of oppressive heat and humidity, for mercy in travel as you seek to get out of town for the holiday, and for deliverance from the attacks that press upon the saints, and we bring these very petitions to our Lord who hears the cry of His people.
We pray that the God who commands the winds and the heat would grant you refreshing and relief according to His wisdom, that He would give you safe passage and a quiet place of rest if it be His will, and above all that He would be your shade and your shelter. The Scriptures remind us that when the waters of affliction cover the earth we fly back to our ark, and find rest for the sole of our foot in Christ. There is no balm in Gilead apart from Calvary, and no true coolness for the soul except in nearness to Jesus. May you find that nearness now.
We also pray with you against every attack upon the saints. The Lord has promised protection to the persecuted and often provides an escape from the most perilous exposure, and He wonderfully turns even severe treatment into salutary discipline for His church. We ask that He would restrain the hand of the enemy, guard His people, and cause His church to prosper even under persecution, keeping us all close to the Sun of Righteousness where the heart cannot help but love Him.
May the Lord in His mercy grant you bodily refreshment, keep you in your going out and coming in, and above all ransom you daily from sin and trouble through the blood of His Son, for truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of His people. We commend you to Him who is able to keep you from falling and to bring you into His presence with joy, trusting that He who will redeem our bodies from the grave will also redeem us from all present evil in His perfect time.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only hope and our only Saviour, Amen.
