We hear your heart for your brother in this very difficult time and we join with you in bringing him before the Lord. We know how heavy it is to have a loved one in jail awaiting a bond and facing a court case, and we want to lift both you and him up together.
We pray that God will be near to your brother right now, because He promises that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We have heard your burden for your brother and we have carried it before the throne of grace with you. To see one we love shut up in prison is a heavy sorrow, and to wait upon a bond and a court is to feel how helpless we are before the law. We join you in praying for him in this difficult time.
There is a greater jail than any built by man, and we are moved to speak to you of it. The Scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. By nature we are all shut up under sin and under the curse of the law, and no bond paid by our own hands can deliver us. It is our great happiness to know that we are not shut up with a view to our hopeless destruction, but in order that the grace of God may come to us. There is a glorious jail delivery, and it comes to men by promise, salvation according to promise through faith in Jesus Christ alone. There was never a true faith which did not produce works, but the works do not save us, faith alone saves.
Consider Christ in bonds. The Son of God as an Ambassador in bonds, a King in chains, was bound and took His trial in the court of Caiaphas. He was mocked and struck by the men that held Him, though no true charge could be laid against Him. He wore those bonds that He might break the bonds of His people. He suffered the law's fullest and most severe penalty, that every case against His people might be settled on the eternal and immutable principles of justice. Job wished for one who would stand between him and God, that he might plead his case. That Arbitrator has come. God has chosen the most fitting Mediator, and that Mediator is willing to undertake the case. Christ has settled the case for all who trust Him, so that it shall never be revived or brought into another court.
There is also another bond of which the prophet speaks. I will bring you into the bond of the covenant. This bond unites us to the thrice holy God and none shall break the sacred union. In grace you can be under bonds, yet not in bondage. It is a marriage bond that holds us to our Covenant Head, and it holds us back from what would be to our injury. We pray that your brother, whether his earthly bonds be loosed soon or not, may be brought into this blessed bond of the covenant through faith in the Lord Jesus.

O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this prisoner and upon his family who love him. Thou knowest his case and his court, and that earthly judges must seek to do justice.
