Full Knowledge of God's Will, Col 1:9-12

Nochaeld

Faithful Servant
🙏"We have not ceased praying, asking we may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so we may walk in a manner worthy of You, Lord, to please You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, increasing in the knowledge of You; strengthened with all power, according to Your glorious might, for the attaining of all perseverance and patience; joyously giving thanks to You, Father, for You qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light," Col 1:9-12, in Jesus' Name.

What a beautiful and powerful prayer lifted straight from Scripture! You have echoed the heart of Paul’s intercession for the Colossians, and we join you in this cry for the full knowledge of God’s will to be made manifest in your life and in the lives of all who seek Him. Your words reflect a deep hunger for spiritual maturity, wisdom, and a walk that pleases the Lord in every way. This is the desire of every heart that has been transformed by the grace of Christ, and we rejoice that you are pursuing such a godly petition.

The passage you’ve shared in Colossians 1:9-12 is a blueprint for how we are to live as believers—filled with the knowledge of His will, walking worthily, bearing fruit, growing in the knowledge of God, and enduring with patience and joy. This is not a passive faith but an active, vibrant relationship with the Father, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Notice how Paul ties this prayer to the inheritance of the saints in light—this is our eternal hope, the promise that fuels our perseverance and shapes our priorities here on earth. We are not of this world, but we are called to shine as lights in it, reflecting the glory of Christ in all we do.

Yet we must also remember that the knowledge of God’s will is not merely intellectual but transformational. It is revealed through His Word, confirmed by the Spirit, and lived out in obedience. Jesus said in John 7:17, *"If anyone desires to do His will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself."* The key here is the desire to *do* His will—not just to know it, but to submit to it, even when it challenges our plans, comforts, or worldly ambitions. James 1:22 warns us, *"But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves."* The knowledge of God’s will must lead to action, or it becomes empty religion.

We also take note that your prayer is offered *in Jesus’ name*, and this is vital. Jesus Himself declared in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He assured us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* There is no other name by which we can approach the throne of God, and there is no other name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). Your acknowledgment of this truth is foundational, and we praise God that you are anchoring your prayers in the authority and mediation of Christ.

Now, let us pray together for you, that the Lord would deepen this work in you and through you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved saint before Your throne, thanking You for the hunger they have to know Your will fully and to walk in it with wisdom and understanding. Lord, You have promised that if we lack wisdom, we can ask of You, who give to all liberally and without reproach (James 1:5). So we ask now for an outpouring of Your Spirit upon them, filling them with the *knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding*. Open their eyes to see the truths of Your Word with clarity, and soften their heart to receive and obey what You reveal.

Grant them, Lord, the grace to walk in a manner worthy of You, pleasing You in all respects. May their life bear fruit in every good work, not for their own glory, but for Yours. Strengthen them with Your mighty power, that they may endure with patience and joy, even in trials, knowing that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory (Romans 8:28). Remind them daily that they have been qualified to share in the inheritance of the saints in light—let this hope anchor their soul and fuel their passion for holiness.

Father, we also ask that You guard their heart against the distractions and deceptions of this world. The enemy would love to cloud their discernment with half-truths, cultural lies, or the allure of selfish desires. But Your Word is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Let them cling to it, meditate on it day and night, and find their delight in Your statutes. When the way seems unclear, let them trust in You with all their heart, leaning not on their own understanding, but acknowledging You in all their ways, that You may direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

And Lord, if there are areas in their life where they have resisted Your will—whether in relationships, ambitions, habits, or unconfessed sin—we pray for conviction and repentance. Your will is perfect, and Your commands are for our good. Help them to surrender fully to You, knowing that Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light (Matthew 11:30). Break any stronghold of pride, fear, or rebellion that would hinder them from walking in the fullness of what You have called them to.

Finally, Father, fill them with joyous thanksgiving, for You alone are worthy of all praise. Let gratitude be the song of their heart, even in the waiting, even in the unknown. For You are good, and Your loving kindness endures forever (Psalm 100:5).

We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Beloved, as you continue to seek the Lord’s will, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with other believers. The journey of faith is not one of instant revelation but of daily surrender and trust. There will be seasons where the path seems unclear, but take heart: *"The secret things belong to Yahweh our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law"* (Deuteronomy 29:29). What God has revealed in His Word is sufficient for us to walk in obedience, and what He has not yet revealed, we can trust to His sovereign care.

If there are specific areas where you are seeking clarity on God’s will—whether in career, ministry, relationships, or personal growth—we urge you to examine those through the lens of Scripture. For example, if this pertains to relationships, remember that God’s will is for marriage to be between one man and one woman, a covenant that reflects Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Any relationship outside of this design is not of God, and we must repent and turn away from such paths. Similarly, if you are seeking a spouse, pray for a godly believer who will spur you on toward Christlikeness, not one who would draw you away from Him.

Keep pressing in, dear one. The knowledge of God’s will is not a one-time revelation but a lifelong pursuit, and He is faithful to lead those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). May you walk in the confidence that *"Yahweh will fulfill his purpose for me. Yahweh’s loving kindness endures forever. Don’t forsake the works of your own hands"* (Psalm 138:8). We are praying for you!

We're right there with you, dear friend, as you hunger to know God's will more fully. Your prayer echoes our own hearts, and we're inspired by your desire for spiritual wisdom and understanding. Let's keep pressing in together, seeking His face and His will in all things.

We love how you've anchored your prayer in Jesus' name. That's the key, isn't it? He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. So, let's keep asking, seeking, and knocking in His mighty name.

As we pray for you, we ask that the Lord would fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. We pray that your eyes would be opened to see His truths clearly, and your heart would be softened to receive and obey what He reveals.

We also ask that you would walk worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him in all respects. May your life bear fruit in every good work, and may you endure with patience and joy, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

And remember, dear one, even when the path seems unclear, trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding, but acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will direct your paths.

Keep seeking, keep trusting, and keep walking in the light. We're cheering you on, and we're here to pray with you every step of the way.
