Friends mangager

We hear your concern for your friend and the other tenants where your friend is staying, and we join together to bring this situation before the Lord. It grieves us when those in a position of authority act unfairly or use their power to take advantage of others, and we know that God sees and cares deeply about justice and honesty.

The Scriptures are clear that dishonest gain and oppression are sin before God. A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight. Proverbs 11:1. We are told not to exploit the poor because he is poor, and not to crush the afflicted, for Yahweh will plead their cause, and plunder the life of those who plunder them. Proverbs 22:22-23. The manager's actions, if he is indeed being unfair and scamming tenants, are not hidden from God, for He is a God who loves justice and calls us to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God. Micah 6:8. We rebuke any form of deceit, theft, and abuse of authority, and we pray that such wrongdoing would be exposed and stopped.

We also notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you why that matters. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is because of His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection that we can boldly come to God in prayer, trusting that He hears us and will act according to His perfect will. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9.

We want to encourage you and your friend to respond in a way that honors God while also seeking justice. We encourage you to counsel your friend to act with wisdom and peace, to keep careful records of any payments and communications, and to seek godly counsel and lawful help if needed. God has established authorities for the purpose of restraining evil, and it is right to appeal to proper building owners, housing authorities, or legal resources when tenants are being wronged. At the same time we are called not to take vengeance into our own hands, for vengeance belongs to the Lord. Romans 12:19. We should defend the weak and plead for those who have little power, as we are told to defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain justice and do what is right for the afflicted and destitute. Psalm 82:3. This means advocating calmly, truthfully, and respectfully, without returning evil for evil.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your justice and mercy to be revealed in this building. You see every tenant, You know every need, and You see any dishonesty that is taking place. We ask that You protect your people from being cheated or oppressed, that You provide for those who may be struggling to pay what is unfairly demanded, and that You give wisdom to our friend and to all the tenants to know how to respond with grace and truth. Give them courage to speak up rightly, to document what is happening, and to seek help from the proper authorities where needed. We pray also for the manager, that You would convict his heart if he is acting dishonestly, that he would turn from any deceitful way and choose honesty and fairness, remembering that You desire truth in our dealings with one another. Let Your peace guard our friend's heart, and let Your justice prevail in this situation for Your glory. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and mediator, amen.

We appreciate you looking out for your friend in this. It is unsettling to see someone dealing with an unfair living situation and to wonder if they are being taken advantage of where they should feel safe.

It says a lot that you noticed and that you want to help rather than just look away. Situations like this can leave a tenant feeling powerless and unsure who to trust, so having a steady friend matters.

One practical way you can support your friend is to help them keep a simple, clear record. Encourage them to write down dates, what was said or charged, keep copies of receipts, notices, or messages, and save photos if relevant. That kind of record helps if they later need clear advice. It can also help to encourage them to get information from a local tenant help organization, housing office, or legal aid clinic before confronting the manager directly, and not to meet alone if they feel uneasy.

We are praying for your friend's safety and peace at home, and for wisdom for you as you support them.

Father, we lift this friend to You and ask for protection, fairness, and clear next steps. Give them wisdom and access to the right help, and give our friend who wrote in discernment to know how best to come alongside. Guide this toward what is right and just. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your faithful intercession for your friend has been heard and we bring it before the throne of grace together.

We are reminded that the house in which we dwell in this life has God for its Landlord and that we are only tenants. Every earthly landlord and manager holds his place by permission of that Great Landlord who has at all times the right to enter and to behold what is done in His own property. Nothing that is done in secret, no unfair dealing and no scamming of those who dwell under a roof, is hidden from His eye. He is slow to anger and His axe is bound up in rods, for He first reproves that men may repent, yet we are told He will not at all acquit the wicked. His justice is unimpeachable and His love does not diminish His justice, nor does His justice make warfare upon His love.

Let us pray for your friend and for all who dwell in that building, and let us pray also for the manager himself.

O Lord, Thou great Landlord of heaven and earth, Thou seest the oppression where it is felt and Thou hearest the cry of those who are dealt with unjustly. We ask Thee to spread Thy protection over our friend and over every tenant in that place. Keep them in Thy appointed ways and under the King's protection, and grant them childlike trust in Thy providential guidance. Where there is unfairness, bring it to light. Where there is scamming or deceit, restrain it by Thy righteous hand and by the lawful means Thou hast ordained. Make the manager to consider his ways, and as Thou art slow to anger, grant him space for repentance, that he may turn from any wrong and do justly and love mercy.

We pray that our friend may be kept from bitterness and may render the true rent which Thou requirest, which is to bless Thy name at all times and to let Thy praise be continually in the mouth. Give wisdom to seek godly counsel and lawful help, to act with honesty and peace, and to commit the cause to Thee who judgest righteously. And above all, we pray that every soul concerned may look to Jesus Christ, in whom justice was satisfied upon the cross, that sinners being justified by His blood may find mercy and may themselves learn to show mercy.

May the Lord grant justice to be vindicated and righteousness to be exemplified, and may He keep you and your friend in perfect peace as you trust in Him.
