Friends held hostage

Alleemir

Disciple of Prayer
I have friends in a very dangerous situation. They're being held hostage by a dangerous person. Please pray that they get out safely and that they don't come after me next.

We hear the urgency and fear in your request and we are lifting you and your friends up together before the throne of grace in Jesus' name. To be held hostage by a dangerous person is a terrible evil, and to fear that you may be next brings a heavy burden of anxiety. We want you to know that God sees exactly where your friends are and He is near to you in this fear.

Scripture reminds us that God is our refuge and deliverer. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 34:7 promises that the angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. And Psalm 34:17-18 says the righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. For you who are afraid, we cling to Isaiah 41:10 where the Lord says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

We also want to encourage you with very practical steps while we pray. If you have not already, please contact law enforcement or emergency services immediately. God has established governing authorities for our protection and justice, for he is a servant of God to you for good as taught in Romans 13:4. Do not try to intervene alone against a dangerous person. Share everything you know with the authorities, stay in a safe location, tell a trusted pastor, family member, or counselor where you are, and keep a record of any threats or information that could help protect your friends and yourself.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently share this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace with God. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by calling on the name of Jesus that we are saved, forgiven, and heard in prayer. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name for protection and salvation.

We pray together now for you and your friends.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together and lift up these friends who are being held hostage. Lord, You see them, You know the exact place where they are and the danger they face. We ask for Your mighty deliverance. Break the power of this dangerous person, confuse every evil plan, and make a way of escape where there seems to be no way. Psalm 91:11 says You will give Your angels charge over them to guard them, and we ask You to encamp Your angels around them now and keep them from harm. Protect their bodies and minds from injury and trauma.

We also lift up the one who is holding them. We ask that You would restrain his hand from violence and bring him to conviction and repentance, that justice would be done and that he would be stopped from harming anyone else. Guide the hands and wisdom of law enforcement, first responders, and all who are working to bring rescue. Give them clarity, courage, and strategy.

For our friend who sent this request, we pray for Your perfect peace to guard heart and mind. Remove the spirit of fear and fill this dear one with power, love, and self-control. Keep this one safe from retaliation and hide them in the secret place of the Most High as promised in Psalm 91:1. Let them rest in the shadow of the Almighty and be able to say with confidence, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surround them with trusted people who will stay close and help.

We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our deliverer. Amen.

We encourage you to keep praying without ceasing and to stay connected to others for safety and support. Keep crying out to the Lord, keep cooperating with the authorities, and keep trusting that Yahweh hears the cries of the righteous and will act according to His perfect will and power. We are standing with you in prayer for a safe release and for the Lord's protection over you.

We have heard your cry and we carry it at once to the throne of grace, where our God is both able and willing to keep those who trust Him.

What a heavy burden is laid upon you, to know that those dear to you are in peril, and to feel the shadow of that same danger drawing near to yourself. The very anxiety which arises through being in such a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty, and fear itself is weakening and dishonors God if it drives us from faith. Yet the Lord does not chide you for feeling this fear, He meets you in it with His own word, Fear not, for I will help thee.

Hear what the Lord says to His worm Jacob, Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. It is not the preacher who cries Fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant, Fear not. That word is a plant which grows very plentifully in God's garden, and it is for such an hour as this. The fear of man bringeth a snare, but the fear of God bringeth blessing, and perfect love casteth out fear, for fear hath torment. When you realize your danger and fly to the Lord to guard you, then you are safe, for our safety lies in our Saviour, who is able to keep you from falling.

Therefore we charge you, as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, to play the man and let your faith overcome your fear, casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you. To tell yourself over and over of the danger, with anxiety confined to yourself, will bring no good, but to tell the Lord of it in prayer will bring deliverance.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, Thou who hast piled the heavens and sustainest the pillars of the earth, Thou whose arm is never palsied, look in mercy upon these who are held hostage. Lord, Thou seest the dangerous hand that holds them, Thou knowest their terror and their helplessness. We beseech Thee, deliver them speedily and safely. Restrain the violence of the oppressor, confound his purposes, and make a way of escape where there seems to be no way. Set Thy guard about them and bring them forth unharmed.

We pray also for this one who intercedes for them and who now fears being pursued. Cover him under the shadow of Thy wings. Be Thou his stronghold and his hiding place. Remove dismay and grant steady trust, that he may not be afraid with the fear of man, but may rest in the promise, Fear not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God. Give wisdom in every right and lawful step to seek safety, and put helpers and protectors in his path.

We ask that in this trial all may be drawn to seek the Lord and His goodness, and to know that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that to look into the Saviour's breast is to find mercy written there. Let this fear be turned to holy trust, and let deliverance come with exceeding joy, that gratitude may abound to Thy name.

We leave these lives in Thy wise and able hands, believing that Thou art able to keep and to present faultless those Thou hast loved. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, Amen.

Continue to cast your care upon Him, and seek at once all lawful and immediate help for protection, while we continue to bear you and your friends before the Lord.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
