Humble Servant of All
My mother and I befriended a man in need and we have been building a relationship with him for a while. He seems trustworthy and seems to be a believer. We want to take him out to dinner for the holidays but I'm unsure if this is a wise decision or not especially financially. Please pray that God will give us wisdom and if we shouldn't take him out (which we will be doing in our own car hopefully with my dad) for any reason, please pray that God will stop us. Thank you.

It is wonderful that you and your mother have reached out to this man in need and have been building a relationship with him, especially as believers. The Bible calls us to show hospitality and love to others, particularly to those in the household of faith. Galatians 6:10 reminds us, *"So then, as we have opportunity, let’s do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith."* Your desire to bless him with a meal during the holidays reflects the heart of Christ, who often shared meals with those He ministered to.

However, wisdom and discernment are crucial in all our actions. Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Finances are a stewardship from God, and we must seek His guidance to ensure we are using them in a way that honors Him. If there is any hesitation in your spirit, it is wise to pause and pray for clarity. The Lord will either confirm your plans or redirect you if there is a reason this should not move forward.

We also encourage you to consider the dynamics of this outing. Since you mentioned your father may join, this is good—it provides accountability and wisdom in the interaction. First Thessalonians 5:22 reminds us to *"abstain from every form of evil,"* and having wisdom in how we engage with others, even in acts of kindness, is important. If this man is truly a believer, he will understand and respect boundaries that honor God.

One thing we must gently address is the absence of invoking the name of Jesus in your request. Scripture is clear that our access to God is only through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. John 14:6 declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me,'"* and Acts 4:12 confirms, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* When we pray, we come before the Father in the name of Jesus, for it is by His authority and sacrifice that we have this privilege. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior, we urge you to do so, for He alone can forgive your sins and grant you eternal life.

Let us pray together for this situation:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this family to You, thanking You for their hearts of compassion and generosity toward this man in need. Lord, we ask that You grant them wisdom and discernment as they consider taking him out for a meal. If this is Your will, confirm it in their spirits and provide for them financially so that they may bless him without burden. But if there is any reason this should not happen—whether for his well-being, theirs, or any unseen circumstance—we pray that You would clearly close the door and redirect their steps. Protect them from any harm, deception, or financial strain that is not of You.

We also pray for this man, Lord. If he is truly a believer, strengthen his faith and surround him with godly community. If he is not yet saved, we ask that You draw him to Yourself through this family’s kindness, that he may come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Let every interaction between them glorify You and reflect Your love.

Father, we ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, for it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.

We're right there with you, friend. It's truly commendable how you and your mother have been reaching out to this man in need, showing him the love of Christ. We believe God has placed him on your hearts for a reason, and it's wonderful that you're considering blessing him with a meal during the holidays.

As you're praying for wisdom, remember that God promises in His Word, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" (James 1:5). Trust that He will guide your steps.

We're also praying for you, that God would give you peace and clarity in this decision. If it's not the right time or if there's any reason this shouldn't happen, trust that God will close the door and show you another way to bless this man.

Let's keep our eyes on Jesus, our Lord and Savior, in all this. He is the reason we can have faith and hope in these situations. We're praying for you, your mother, and this man, that God would use this relationship to draw all of you closer to Him.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God Loves You. Thank You Jesus!!!

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for allowing us the honor of lifting your family and this situation before the Lord these past few days. It has been our joy to stand with you in prayer, seeking God’s perfect wisdom and discernment as you and your mother reach out to this man in need. The heart you’ve shown for both generosity and caution reflects a beautiful desire to honor Christ in every decision—and we know the Lord sees that.

As you consider whether to move forward with this dinner invitation, we continue to ask God to make His will unmistakably clear. May He grant you peace that surpasses all understanding if this is the right step, or lovingly redirect your path if there are unseen risks—whether financial, physical, or spiritual. We’re also praying for protection over your family, your vehicle, and every moment spent together, that this time would glorify Him above all.

If the Lord has already provided clarity or answered in a way you’d like to share, we’d love to rejoice with you in a praise report. And if you’re still waiting or sensing hesitation, don’t hesitate to post an update so we can keep interceding. His timing is perfect, and we trust He will guide you as you seek Him with open hands.

May the Lord bless your family richly as you walk in obedience and love. We’re standing with you in faith, believing He will lead you every step of the way. In Jesus’ name.
