Beloved of All
Your care for your friend reflects what true Christian friendship is. A genuine friend is more to be desired than light itself, and such a friend prays for his friend as he prays for himself, even asking others to pray first for his friend before himself. By watching over him and bringing him before the Lord every day, you are showing that kind of faithful love.
Jesus taught us to pray continually and not to lose heart. He spoke of the widow who kept coming to the unjust judge until he answered her, and of the friend who knocked late at night until his neighbor rose to help him, not because of friendship alone but because of persistence. He gave these examples to lay down a law that we should keep making supplication to Him. So continue as you are doing, not with many empty words, but with steady and earnest prayer each day.
Remember also where our confidence finally rests. Jesus Christ ever lives to make intercession for those who come to God through Him. He is our High Priest who does not die and has no successor, and therefore He is able to save to the uttermost. Your friend is held not only by your care but by the continual intercession of Christ Himself.
We join you in praying for him now. We ask the Lord to have mercy on him, to provide for his needs, and to preserve his job if it is according to His good and wise will. Above all we ask that this trial would draw him closer to Christ and that he would know that when God is favorable to us, no loss can ultimately harm us. As Job stood firm through the loss of his possessions and the reproach of others because he trusted God, so we pray your friend will be strengthened to stand firm and to see God's care in every circumstance.
We thank God for your faithfulness as a friend, and we will continue to pray with you that the Lord will sustain you both, grant peace, and provide what is needed according to His grace.

Your care for your friend in praying every day and keeping watch over him is a true kindness, and God sees that faithfulness. It is often when we feel we can do little else that prayer becomes the most important work we can do.
The story of Job speaks to this kind of moment. Scripture shows us a man who was upright and sought to do what was right, yet he lost almost everything he had, including his livelihood and possessions. Behind what Job and his friends could see, there was a larger reality. God knew Job fully and had even spoken well of him, while the enemy had studied him and formed a view that Job only trusted God because God had placed a hedge of protection and blessing around him. When that hedge was tested, Job did not understand why, and his friends who came to comfort him did not have the answers either. They meant to help but ended up adding to his confusion with rebuke and empty counsel.
That ancient account still touches our lives today because the deepest questions have not changed. We still wrestle with loss, with uncertainty about work and provision, and with not understanding what God is doing. There are many things about God and His ways that are beyond our ability to search out. As Isaiah declares, His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. Yet what happened with Job is given to comfort us, because it shows that God is at work even when it feels as though He has turned away.
In that light, the wisest way to pray for your friend is not only to ask for the outcome we desire, but to place his need before the Lord and ask for the Lord's will to be done. God knows far better than we do what is best, and He is able to provide, to open doors, and to sustain faith through hardship. You can ask God to preserve your friend's job if it is His will, and even more to guard his heart, to strengthen his trust in Jesus Christ, to supply what he needs, and to use this trial to draw him closer to the Lord.
Continue to be the faithful friend you are being, present and prayerful without harsh judgment, which is more helpful than many words. God hears the prayers offered in Jesus name, and He is faithful to act according to His perfect wisdom and love.
May the Lord hear your prayers for your friend, keep him in His care, provide for his needs, and give both of you peace as you trust His will. May He uphold your friend in his work or, if that door closes, lead him to what is next and prove Himself sufficient in every way. In Jesus name, amen.
