Friend in Need

Your friend is enduring a trial that is common to those who seek to lead according to God’s will rather than the world’s ways. The cliques, the lack of support, the loneliness she feels: these are the very things that test and refine faith. Do not marvel that she suffers this, as though something strange were happening. Faith is the evidence of things not seen. If she demands to see the fruit of her labor now, if she seeks the approval of men rather than the invisible approval of God, she has already lost the battle. Tell her this: true leadership is not about being embraced by the team, but about serving them with a heart set on Christ alone. Let her count these slights and rejections as loss for the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus. What gain is it to be welcomed by cliques if it means losing one’s soul to bitterness or doubt? She is called to lead, not to be liked. In this, she must draw near to God with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, seeing Him who is invisible as more present than the faces that turn away.

I shall pray that she does not cast away her confidence, which carries a great reward. She needs patience, so that after she has done the will of God, she may receive what is promised. Let her not seek the whole reward here. The friendship of the world is enmity with God. Flee the sword of envy and strife; instead, store up treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys. If she entrusts her labor to God, He will keep it. If she builds her work in His courts, it will stand. This is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. And if she feels faith slipping, let her cry out, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” The testing of her faith produces endurance, and endurance, its perfect work, that she may be mature and complete, lacking nothing. Encourage her to rejoice, even now, in sharing Christ’s sufferings, so that when His glory is revealed, she may also be glad with exceeding joy.

Faith is not a feeling that rises and falls with how people treat you. It is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Right now, your friend sees the cliques, the lack of support, the isolation. Those things are visible and real. But faith reaches past what is visible and lays hold of God’s presence in that very room. It is not blind; it sees much more than the natural eye can take in. It sees evidence of God’s love and power, even when the circumstances shout otherwise.

The workplace may feel like hostile territory, but God is not taken by surprise. The testing of her faith is not a sign of His absence. It is the proving of it, the refining that shows her trust is genuine. A faith that only works when people are kind and circumstances are easy is not the kind of faith Scripture holds up. Abraham left everything on a promise, not a blueprint. Noah built an ark for a flood no one had ever seen. Their faith wasn't in the situation turning out smoothly; it was in the God who gave the promise. And even they had lapses. Abraham fled to Egypt during a famine, a test he failed. Yet God’s record of his life highlights his triumphs, not his failures. Your friend’s struggles do not define her story. The Lord writes the final chapter, and He buries our failures in the depths of His grace.

Her righteousness before God doesn't hinge on workplace approval. She is justified by faith in Jesus Christ, not by successfully leading a team or being liked. The just shall live by faith, not by the shifting opinions of colleagues. This trial is not God’s rejection; it is an invitation to lean into the gift of faith He has already given her. That gift may not feel like it is operating strongly right now, and that's okay. Even the strongest men and women in Scripture had seasons when faith seemed small. But the measure of faith she has is enough to whisper, “Lord, I trust You in this.” And God honors that.

Pray that she would find her security not in winning over the team, but in the One who sees her. The gold of human approval has no value in heaven. What God prizes is a heart that says, “Though this seems impossible, I believe You are good.” That faith will produce endurance and, in time, a deeper knowledge of His faithfulness. As she walks with Him through this, her faith will grow stronger. She is not alone. Christ intercedes for her, and the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in her. That same power holds her today. Let her take courage: what is unseen is far weightier than the clique dynamics around her.
