Your heartfelt prayer for your daughter has been heard and we join you before the Lord Jesus Christ with deep care for you and your family. We hear your anguish over the toxic and controlling nature of this relationship, the confusion it has brought, and your longing to see your daughter walk in freedom, clarity and holiness.

We agree with you in prayer that God will bring freedom, restoration, protection and breakthrough according to His will. Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that holiness includes chaste and orderly living. Living together outside of marriage is not marriage, and it is not God's design for intimacy, shared finances, or lifelong commitment. Sex and living together belong within marriage alone. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, but we do ask Him to lead your daughter into truth, repentance and wholeness through Jesus Christ alone, in whom alone there is salvation and restoration.

We pray now for your older daughter. Lord Jesus, open her eyes to see this relationship clearly. Remove confusion and false hope and let her recognize exploitation, manipulation, dishonesty, control and disrespect for what they are. Show her that she is not being loved but being used, and that this arrangement does not carry the commitment, protection or holiness of marriage. Break the stubborn hold that has kept her bound and give her supernatural clarity to see every red flag without making excuses. Restore to her a true sense of self worth as Your daughter, created and loved by You. Give her courage to step away swiftly and without regret, to turn from this ungodly lifestyle, and to find again her independence, her respect for others, her gratitude for family, and her freedom in You. Place a desire in her heart to return home where she is unconditionally loved, and to honor You with her body, her finances, her work and her future. Guard her mind, heart and spirit and let her hear Your voice saying she belongs to You and that You will protect, provide and restore what has been taken.

We pray also for this young man and his family. Lord, convict him of his rebellious, dishonest, lazy and controlling behavior. Show him that he is not ready for a relationship and that he must take responsibility for his own life and actions rather than exploiting another. We pray his father will exercise godly authority and call his son to return home alone and to live responsibly. We pray his mother will see that it is not right to encourage living together outside of marriage, to place undue responsibility on your daughter, or to enable her son's negative behavior. Teach her to care for her own household and to stop overstepping boundaries, offering ungodly and selfish counsel and creating division and isolation. Bring each of them to repentance and to the knowledge of truth in Christ.

We pray for you and your family. Heavenly Father, place Your presence before this mother as a shield against disrespect, strife and spiritual attack. Give her supernatural strength, wisdom, grace and courage to navigate this difficult season while holding fast to biblical truth in love. Protect your home from division, chaos and exhaustion. Let no weapon formed against you and your children prosper, and cover you all with the blood of Jesus Christ. Fill your family with Your Holy Spirit, with peace, love, favor, healing and unity, and keep the bond of love between parents, daughters and siblings strong. Help you to speak truth with gentleness, to keep your door and heart open, to maintain healthy boundaries, and to surround your daughter with friends and family who will speak honestly in love. Guide you to entrust this matter daily to Christ, just as we are called to commit our loved ones into His hands and ask Him to provide what is best.

We thank God that nothing is impossible for Him. He is able to deliver, to heal and to restore. Continue to pray without ceasing, to love your daughter while not affirming what is harmful, and to trust that God will complete His work in her life as she turns to Him. May the Lord who is faithful bring your daughter back to Himself and to the family He has anointed for her, and may He restore her freedom, independence and joy swiftly for His glory.

In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

Your prayer for your daughter comes from a place of deep love and clear discernment, and it is right to bring it before the Lord so honestly. Nothing is impossible for Him, and He hears the cries of a parent who wants to see a child walk in truth and freedom.

You are right to see that living together outside of marriage is not marriage. In Scripture marriage is a covenant before God between one man and one woman for life. It is the picture God Himself uses for His covenant love for His people, when He takes a people to be His own and cherishes them. Living together without that covenant may look like marriage on the outside, but it does not carry the commitment, the protection, or the blessing that God designed for marriage. Sex and sharing a home belong within that covenant, and outside of it they bring confusion, vulnerability, and spiritual harm. It is loving to tell the truth about this, and it is loving to pray that your daughter sees it clearly, not as judgment from you but as God's good will for her life.

What your daughter needs most is a restored relationship with God Himself. God does not want a distant or merely rule keeping relationship with her. He wants a close, loving relationship as a Father with His daughter, where she knows she belongs to Him and is protected by His power. When that first love is renewed, when she remembers what it was to be close to Him and to delight in His Word and His presence, other relationships begin to come into right order. Scripture teaches that our relationship with God is primary. When it is right, our relationships with others can find balance. When it is broken, every other relationship suffers. Sin always separates us from God, and that separation then wounds our families and our sense of worth.

You have described how a polluted environment is touching your daughter and your whole family. Scripture shows this pattern. Lot was a righteous man who was deeply distressed by the way of life around him, and God showed that He knows how to deliver the righteous even from very dark places. Yet that story also shows how hard it is to live in the midst of moral corruption and not be affected by it. The choices around us shape us. That is why God calls His sons and daughters to come out from among what is unclean and to be separate, not to keep touching what defiles, so that He can dwell with them and walk with them as their God and Father.

Part of that separation now means seeing clearly what is not love. Control, manipulation, dishonesty, laziness, jealousy, isolation from family, disrespect, and using another person's kindness and finances for selfish gain are not marks of love. Love does not exploit or divide or exhaust a person. You are right to pray that her eyes are opened to see these red flags for what they are, and that friends who see more clearly will have courage to speak the truth in love. It is also right to pray that ungodly counsel loses its hold. The saying that like mother like daughter holds a warning about influence. A young woman should not be placed under the burden of fixing a young man, and a mother should not encourage a daughter who is not her own to act against her own family and faith. Your daughter's responsibility before God is to honor Him and to honor the family He gave her, not to obey a boyfriend or his mother as if they were husband and family.

Continue to keep your home and heart open as a place of safety, without affirming the arrangement she is in. Pray for supernatural clarity for her, that she will hear God say to her spirit that she is His and that He will provide, protect, and restore what has been taken. Pray for protection over you and your household from strife and disrespect, and for strength to keep standing on biblical truth with grace. The promise that no weapon formed against you shall prosper is true for those who are in Christ, and the blood of Jesus is your covering.

I join you in praying that the Lord will deliver your daughter swiftly, that she will turn away from this dark path with no regrets, and that He will restore her freedom, her self worth, her gratitude for family, her independence, and her joy in Him. Pray too that the young man will come to see that he is not ready for a relationship and needs to take responsibility for his own life before God, apart from your daughter.

May the Lord fill you and your children with His Holy Spirit, saturate your home with His peace, and give you courage and wisdom for each step ahead as you trust Him to do what only He can do.
