Your prayer reflects deep love for your daughter and clear discernment about the path she is on, and God hears that cry for freedom and protection.
Scripture shows that God calls His people back to the place of family and covenant and promises to be with them there. When Jacob heard the Lord say return to the land of your fathers and to your family and I will be with you, he obeyed even though the way forward looked frightening and uncertain, with great opposition ahead. That promise still stands. God is the one who meets His children and says come back, and He pledges His presence for the journey. Pray that your daughter hears that same call to return, not to an empty place, but to the safety and wisdom of a family that raised her in the ways of the Lord and to the fellowship of believers who love her. She is not homeless and she does not need the approval of those who would control her. She belongs to God, a child of the Most High, and her identity and worth are found in Him alone.
The Word also shows that God knows how to deliver the righteous even when they are vexed by the corruption around them. Lot was rescued because God is merciful, yet his choice to settle in the midst of a corrupt society cost his family dearly in morals and peace. Living outside of God's design always brings that kind of cost. A home built on cohabitation outside of marriage, on sexual intimacy outside the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, on financial exploitation and on counsel that encourages having children outside of marriage, is not a marriage in God's eyes and cannot carry the blessing of marriage. It brings exhaustion, confusion, financial hardship and isolation rather than rest. Laziness and idleness open the door to manipulation and to using others, and that pattern is evident in a man who will not provide, will not lead spiritually, and who speaks with a false authority while his mother enables and directs him.
God also exposes motives and frustrates plans that are rooted in pride, jealousy, selfishness and division. When counsel is given that divides a daughter from her parents and siblings, that isolates her from her supportive community, that urges her to treat an ungodly living arrangement as if it were marriage, that teaches her to put another family before her own faith and kin, and that then presents itself as the only source of help for the very chaos it created, that counsel is not from the Lord. Pray that the Lord brings such schemes into the light, that He blocks every word spoken to curse or diminish you and your children, and that He breaks every chain of control, brainwashing and fear that keeps your daughter obeying a voice that has no biblical authority over her life.
God's pattern for love and provision is very different. In the story of Ruth, the Lord provided a kinsman redeemer, a man of character and substance who offered covering and rest and who sought the good of the family name rather than exploiting it. That is the picture of a shepherd heart, a provider and spiritual leader, not one who drains finances, demands support, encourages debt, and mocks a family. Pray that your daughter's eyes are opened to see the difference between a stumbling block and a shepherd, between a relationship that depletes and one that would honor God.
The grief you feel as a parent is also seen in Scripture. When a father saw his only daughter harmed by his own rash vow, his heart was bowed down with sorrow. God understands the weight you carry as you watch your daughter grow cold, ungrateful and disrespectful toward you while imitating the stubbornness, gossip and mocking she hears elsewhere. Only the Holy Spirit can soften a heart, restore a gracious and respectful spirit, and give courage to walk away from bondage without regret.
So we pray with you. Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask for mercy and supernatural intervention for this daughter. Open her eyes to see this young man as he is, not a husband, not a provider, not a spiritual leader, and open her eyes to see the exhaustion and financial hardship that come from living outside Your design. Give her wisdom to protect what You have entrusted to her, to refuse further debt for the sake of this lifestyle, and to stop using her family as a resource to sustain it. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, reignite a hunger for righteousness, and grant her courage to step out of darkness into Your light and back into the safety of family and church community. Frustrate every plan to control, divide and isolate her, and guard her new promotion and the good purpose You have for her work from any interference. Heal the brokenness, restore peace, fellowship, respect and unity to this family, and let no weapon formed against you prosper as you are covered by the blood of Jesus. We ask that You would in Your perfect time provide a godly spouse according to Your will, not through compromise but through obedience, and that You would guard her from a destructive path. Bring complete restoration, and let her remember who she is in You and live in the freedom You give. Amen.
