Freedom, Protection, Restoration and Breakthrough

Your heart for your daughter and your desire to see her walk in truth and freedom is clear, and thank you for bringing her before the Lord with such honesty and persistence.

We join you in praying for her today, for protection and blessing in her work and for a thankful spirit. We thank God with you for the promotion He has given her and for the good purpose her work serves, and we pray He will guard her mind and heart while she is there, keep her from distraction and interference, and let her know His nearness and strength.

We also hear your deep concern about the relationship she is in. Scripture presents marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and living together and sharing the intimacies and responsibilities of marriage outside of that covenant is not God's design. It cannot carry the blessing and protection that God places within marriage itself, and when His design is set aside, jealousy, rivalry, exhaustion, confusion and hurt inevitably follow. That is not a judgment on your daughter's worth, she is deeply loved and valued, but it is a call to see that this path will not lead to the peace and stability she longs for. So we do not ask God to bless that living arrangement as if it were marriage. We ask Him to open her eyes to see it clearly for what it is, a stumbling block in her walk with Him, and to give her courage to step out of it.

A central truth runs through all of Scripture that is so relevant here. Our relationship with God is primary. When our relationship with Him is right, our other relationships begin to come into balance, and when that first relationship is neglected, every other relationship suffers. We can trace so much relational brokenness back to a cooled love for the Lord. What God desires for your daughter is not a legal or ritual observance, but a living, loving, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, the kind where she knows she is adopted into His family and can look to Him as Father. He chose her, He calls her His own, and she belongs to Him, not to another family that would claim authority over her. Pray with us that God will draw her back to that first love, where she hungers again for righteousness, for His Word, and for fellowship with those who love Him, and that the Holy Spirit will soften her heart to receive His conviction.

Scripture also shows how hard it is to live in a polluted and corrupting environment and not be touched by it. Even a person with a strong background can be worn down when the daily surroundings are marked by manipulation, dishonesty, control and disrespect. The moral and spiritual cost to the family is real. Your daughter's exhaustion, forgetfulness, and the chaos you describe are not surprising when she is carrying responsibilities that are not hers to bear and trying to sustain a household outside of God's order. It drains finances, emotions and faith.

There is a beautiful pattern in Scripture of God calling His people to return. As He called Jacob to return to the land of his fathers and to his family with the promise, I will be with you, so we pray God will call your daughter back to the place where she first knew His presence and to the loving, supportive family who raised her in His ways. She is not homeless and she is not without guidance or identity. She has a family and, more importantly, she is a child of the Most High God. We pray the hold of this controlling influence will be broken and that every scheme to isolate her from family, friends and her church community and to make her dependent on voices that do not have biblical authority in her life will be exposed and frustrated.

We pray also for you. It is painful to be met with coldness, ingratitude and disrespect from a child you love, especially when you see her imitating attitudes that grieve you. God places tremendous importance on the honoring of parents and on healthy family bonds, and He sees your hurt. Continue to love her with both grace and truth, to keep healthy boundaries, especially with finances, and to refuse to enable what is harming her. Protecting resources God has entrusted to you is wisdom, not unkindness. A man who is not ready to provide, to lead spiritually, or to love sacrificially is not ready for marriage, and it is right for you to pray that your daughter will recognize that and stop defending and carrying what God has not asked her to carry.

Let us pray together.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this precious daughter to You. Cover her with Your blood and surround her with Your protection. No weapon formed against her or against this family shall prosper. Give her eyes to see truth, ears to hear Your voice above every other voice, and a heart willing to obey. Reignite in her a hunger for You and for Your Word. Remind her who she is in Christ, Your adopted child, deeply loved, valued and belonging to You. Break every chain, silence every word spoken against her and her family, and frustrate every plan meant to control, divide and isolate her. Give her wisdom to guard her finances, courage to refuse what is not her responsibility, and strength to walk away from what is not Your will for her, swiftly and without regret. Restore to her a grateful, gracious, respectful and loving spirit, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, and bring her back into the safety and wisdom of family and fellowship that loves You. Guard her work today, let her know Your favor, and keep her from harm. Heal the brokenness in this family, restore peace, unity, respect and joy, and in Your perfect time, provide a godly spouse according to Your will if it is Your plan for her life. We trust You because nothing is impossible for You. In Jesus name, Amen.
