Disciple of Prayer
Have been on psyche meds for about 1.5 years and now 7 days off all of the but still getting ECT once a week. Haven’t had meaningful sleep in months and experiencing withdrawal from meds. Praying for deliverance for all these things. I know Jesus is with me but it’s so hard. Thank you!!!!

We can’t imagine how exhausting this season must feel for you, sleepless nights layered on top of withdrawal, all while your body and mind are still adjusting to being off the medications. It’s no wonder it feels so hard, even while you hold tightly to the truth that Jesus is with you. Thank you for letting us come alongside you in prayer.

It helps us to remember that healing often comes as a slow, steady journey rather than a sudden event. In times like this, God’s peace doesn’t always arrive as a dramatic shift; sometimes it shows up in the tiniest moments of rest, a few hours of quiet, or a hymn that gently quiets our heart. We’ve seen how simply having Christian music playing softly can make a real difference when sleep won’t come, not as a magic fix, but as a way to anchor your thoughts on what is true and comforting while your body does its work.

One small, practical thing we’d suggest: if you haven’t already, let your doctor or treatment team know what you’re experiencing with sleep and withdrawal. They are part of the support God has placed around you, and they can help watch for any adjustments that might ease this stretch without setting you back. Even just a quick update can bring a little more peace of mind.

In the thick of it, we’re simply asking God to sustain you, for moments of genuine rest, for strength in the exhaustion, and for a clear sense of His nearness when the night feels long.

Jesus, hold this dear one close. Calm the racing thoughts and the restless body. Grant even a few hours of deep, restoring sleep tonight, and over time bring a lasting freedom from this insomnia. Shelter them through the withdrawal symptoms, and guide the hands of every doctor and counselor involved in their care. Fill them with your peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances. We ask all this in your strong name, Jesus.

We hear your cry for rest and deliverance, and we come alongside you in prayer, standing on the promises of God’s Word. The struggle with insomnia, the weight of withdrawal, and the ongoing treatments are heavy burdens, but we know that Jesus is your strength even in weakness. You are not alone in this battle, and we declare that the Lord is your refuge and fortress in this storm.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 127:2, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, to eat the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved." Even when sleep feels impossible, God is the giver of rest, and we trust Him to restore what has been lost. We also hold fast to Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." The process of withdrawal and healing may be difficult, but Christ’s strength is made perfect in your weakness.

We rebuke the spirit of sleeplessness and the physical and emotional turmoil that has taken hold of your body and mind. In the name of Jesus, we command every obstacle to rest to be removed. We pray for your body to find its natural rhythm again, for your mind to be at peace, and for the ECT treatments to work in alignment with God’s healing power. We also pray for wisdom for your doctors and caregivers, that they would be guided by the Holy Spirit in every decision.

Lord, we ask You to surround this dear one with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Let Your presence be a blanket of comfort, calming every anxious thought and quieting every restless moment. We declare that healing is coming, body, mind, and spirit. We stand on Your Word in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh."

We also encourage you to lean into the truth of God’s love for you. Even in the darkest nights, He is near. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not forgotten, and your struggle is seen by the One who never sleeps nor slumbers (Psalm 121:4).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy for this beloved child of Yours. We ask for Your supernatural intervention in their life. Lord, You are the God who heals, and we ask for complete restoration, mind, body, and soul. Break every chain of insomnia and withdrawal, and let Your peace flood every part of their being. Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and let them feel Your love in tangible ways. Give them the strength to endure each day, and fill them with hope for the future. We declare that this season of struggle is temporary, and that joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Hold fast to the truth that God is working even when you cannot see it. Keep pressing into Him, and remember that His grace is sufficient for you (2 Corinthians 12:9). You are deeply loved, and we continue to stand with you in prayer.

We’ve been holding your request before the Lord, and we want you to know you’re not alone in this. Coming off medications while still undergoing ECT, and enduring night after night without meaningful sleep, is an incredibly heavy load. We hear the weariness in your words, and we’re grateful you reached out.

It’s clear you’re clinging to the truth that Jesus is with you. That is your anchor right now, even when your body feels miserable and rest won’t come. He hasn’t stepped away, not for a moment.

As you walk through this withdrawal, we gently encourage you to keep your doctor fully informed about what you’re experiencing. Your body is adjusting, and having that medical support is a real gift, wise professionals can help you navigate this safely. You don’t have to white-knuckle it alone.

So many sleepless nights can make you feel cut off from peace, but God’s peace isn’t dependent on our physical rest. He can sustain you in the quiet, wakeful hours just as surely as in sleep. We’re praying right now that His presence will be unmistakably real to you, a steady comfort even in the exhaustion.

Lord Jesus, we lift up our friend to You. You see the torment of insomnia and the upheaval of withdrawal. Bring a supernatural calm over their mind and body. Grant them deep, restoring sleep, and give their doctors wisdom for each step. Most of all, let them feel Your nearness, a tangible peace that carries them through the toughest nights. We ask this in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

Your trial of sleeplessness is a fierce and wearying one. Sleep, that choicest medicine, that gift of God to all, is denied you, and you have learned its value in its absence. When nights are spent in tossing and the body finds no rest, the heart is heavy. Yet know this: the Lord does not willingly afflict, and He can restore the blessing of rest. He giveth His beloved sleep, and you are among His beloved if you cling to Christ. This withdrawal and the turmoil of your mind are not signs that He has forsaken you. That is a fiery dart of the enemy, who whispers, “God has forsaken thee; He will be gracious no more.” But it is a lie. Christ is with you; you have said it, and hold fast to it. Even in the pit of anguish, you are not alone.

The evil one would have you believe that your case is hopeless, that you are too broken, too far gone. But I charge you, give not your tongue to unbelief. Muzzle that hound of hell! Instead, let faith speak: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” When the withdrawal grips you and sleep flees, cry out to Him who redeems His people from destruction. He brought Israel forth from Egypt with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. Your deliverance, too, shall be attended with enrichment, spiritual strength that outshines physical weakness. Though now you feel as one going down to the pit, remember that with God there is recovery even from the brink. He is the Lord your God, and He will hear you. Your very prayer is a token that mercy is near.

Restoration is His promise: “They shall be as though I had not cast them aside.” He will make you whole, not merely in body, but in soul, crowning you with peace. Wait upon Him. He gives songs of deliverance, and you shall yet draw water with joy from the wells of salvation. Jesus is with you in the darkest watch of the night; He will not leave you. Until the dawn breaks, let patience have her perfect work, trusting that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He will soon give you that rest which the world cannot give.

You speak of sleeplessness, of a body restless and a mind that will not quiet. This is a heavy trial, and it is well that you cry out to God, for He alone gives true rest. Yet consider: the saints of old learned to turn even wakefulness into prayer. When the stomach is not weighed down by excess, the soul rises quickly to God. The body may lie down, but the heart keeps vigil. Such wakefulness need not be your enemy; it can become a time to speak with Christ, to pour out your anguish and hear His voice in the Scriptures. The Evil One would have you despair in the dark hours, but the Spirit would have you watch and find strength.

I know the torment of a mind stirred up by medicines withdrawn. The flesh protests, and sleep flees. But even in this, God is not absent. Remember Peter, sleeping between two soldiers, bound with chains, yet the angel came while he slept and led him out. That sleep was a gift. Now you are kept awake; perhaps God has another design. Paul and Silas, in the inner prison, prayed and sang hymns at midnight, and the chains fell off. Their wakefulness became the very hour of deliverance. Do not therefore count the sleepless night as lost. Let it be a vigil. Rise, if you are able, and on your knees pour out your heart. Read the Psalms aloud. The darkness is no barrier to Him who neither slumbers nor sleeps.

You say it is hard, and so it is. But hardness does not mean God has forsaken you. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep; He does not flee when the wolf comes. Your soul is more precious to Him than His own blood. When you cannot sleep, remember that He watches. Cry out to Him as the jailer did: “What must I do to be saved?” and you will find Him near. Do not rely only on the prayers of others, though they are a comfort. You yourself must grasp hold of God. The help of the saints profits only if you also are alert. Rise up, then, and seek His face. He who foreordained your redemption is able to bring peace to your body and mind in His own time.

I will not offer you easy words. The path of withdrawal is a furnace. But the same fire that burns away dross purifies gold. Endure these days as a sacrifice of endurance. When sleep flees, let your soul mount up. Perhaps God is weaning you from dependence on created things, that you might cling only to Him. The body may suffer, but the inward man is renewed day by day. Hold fast. He who endures to the end shall be saved. I pray with you that soon your head may find rest, and your heart quiet. But until then, use the hours. They are not wasted. They are a field where faith can grow.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
