Fornication, adultery, restoration

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please lift a special someone (hidden for privacy reasons) to the throne of God in the name of Jesus.
This person is said to be a born-again Christian, but he distanced himself from God due to fornication and therefore married an adulterous woman.
Let us pray in Jesus name that this person accepts God's will regarding their broken relationship, and understands that, as a Christian, they cannot be unequally yoked, but must marry someone who is also a Christian.

Let's pray based on these verses:
Hosea 2:19-23
[19] “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;
[20] I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord.
[21] “It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth.
[22] The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel.
[23] Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”

Please continue to pray...Keep praying that this brother has unweavering faith in Jesus Christ and the Father's holy plan for his life...AMEN
LET GOD BE GLORIFIED!!

Please continue to pray in Jesus' name that this brother drives the adulterous and godless woman out of his house/flat. Do not persecute those who pray for him and encourage him to follow God. To God be the glory who is Holy forever.

Please continue to pray for this brother. The woman is utterly evil and frustrated and has angry outbursts when she hears the word of God. They can't all stay in the house at the same time for too long; they take it in turns. She is an utterly opposing and aggressive woman; please pray that the brother is saved from her presence and they are separated forever if God wills it... in Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in lifting this hidden brother to the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, and we thank you for bringing him before the Lord with such persistence and burden. We hear your concern for his restoration and your desire that he walk again in close fellowship with God and in unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and the Father's holy plan for his life.

We must speak the truth in love about what has happened. The Word tells us to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18. Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, Hebrews 13:4. Fornication before marriage and adultery within marriage are sin before a holy God, and when a born again believer chooses that path he does distance himself from fellowship with God, though he does not lose the Lord's pursuit of him. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. There is forgiveness and restoration only through repentance and through the name of Jesus, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We are thankful you have prayed in Jesus' name, for it is only by Him we have access to the Father.

You are right to be concerned that a Christian must not be unequally yoked. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have, 2 Corinthians 6:14. Courtship should always be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman as God designed. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate, Matthew 19:6. This is why we must also speak with care about marriage itself. Once a man and a woman have entered into marriage, God sees them as one flesh and calls them to honor that covenant. We cannot simply pray for a marriage to be broken out of anger or frustration, even when there is deep pain and conflict. The Lord says He hates divorce, Malachi 2:16, yet Jesus also taught about the hardness of heart and the seriousness of sexual immorality, Matthew 19:9, and the apostle Paul teaches that if an unbelieving spouse consents to live with the believer, the believer should not leave, but if the unbelieving departs, let them depart, 1 Corinthians 7:12-15. We do not know all the details of this household, but we do know God calls us not to hate the person but to hate the sin, to love our enemies and pray for those who oppose us, and to seek peace and holiness and godly counsel.

We gently rebuke the language of calling this woman utterly evil and desiring to drive her out in a spirit of hostility. We understand the anguish when the Word of God is met with angry outbursts and aggression, and when living together becomes unbearable and you must take turns remaining in the home. That kind of strife and opposing spirit is not of God and may require wise pastoral help, boundaries, and even physical separation for safety and for peace while seeking the Lord's will. But our prayer must be for God's will above our own, for conviction, repentance, and salvation for both souls. The Lord may will reconciliation through repentance, or He may allow separation if she continues to reject Christ and chooses to depart, but we must leave that judgment to Him and not persecute those who pray and encourage this brother to follow God.

The verses you shared from Hosea give us hope for restoration. I will betroth you to me forever, Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in loving kindness and in mercy, I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness, and you shall know Yahweh, Hosea 2:19-20, and I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy, and I will tell those who were not my people, You are my people, and they will say, You are my God, Hosea 2:23. This is the heart of God toward His wayward people, to betroth again in faithfulness, to show mercy, to call us His own.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift this brother to You. You know his name, his struggle, his sin, and his sorrow. Lord, bring him to deep repentance for fornication and for any way he has departed from You. Cleanse him by the blood of Jesus, restore to him the joy of Your salvation, and give him unwavering faith to trust Your holy plan for his life, even when it is painful. Teach him to accept Your will regarding this broken relationship and to seek to honor marriage as You designed it, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman. Give him wisdom, courage, and godly counsel from mature believers and pastors, that he may not act in anger but in righteousness, justice, lovingkindness and mercy.

Father, we also lift this woman to You. You know her heart and her resistance to Your Word. We pray for her salvation, that the angry and opposing spirit would be broken and that she would encounter Jesus and be made new. Have mercy on her who has not obtained mercy. If it is Your will for this marriage to be reconciled through mutual repentance and faith, we pray for healing and holiness in that home. If it is Your will, because of continued unbelief, adultery, and hardness of heart, that they be separated, we pray You would make Your will clear, provide a peaceful and safe way, and guard all in that household from harm. Let there be no persecution of those who pray and speak Your truth, but let Your peace rule. We ask that You work all things together for good for those who love You, Romans 8:28. Glorify Yourself in this situation, let this brother know You as Lord, and establish him in a walk that seeks a godly marriage only with a fellow believer if You lead him to marriage in the future. In the holy and mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We hear how heavy this burden has been for you, and we are grateful you have kept bringing this brother before the Lord with such persistence. Carrying concern for someone you care about, especially when you see his faith wavering and his home filled with tension, is wearying, and we want to stand with you in prayer.

What stood out to us is your central longing, that he would have unwavering faith in Jesus and trust the Father's plan for his life. That is the truest good we can ask for anyone, and we join you there. When a home feels unsafe because of angry outbursts and people having to take turns just to have peace, wisdom and safety matter a great deal. If you have ongoing contact with him, one gentle next step could be encouraging him to talk regularly with a trusted pastor or mature believer in his area, someone who can walk with him face to face, listen well, and help him seek God's direction with accountability and care.

Father, we lift this brother to You and ask You to draw him close to Jesus, to strengthen his faith and give him clarity to seek Your will above all else. Bring peace and safety into that home, guard each person there with dignity, and give wisdom to all involved for right next steps. Sustain the one praying, too, with hope and rest in You. In Jesus' name, amen.
