Fornication, adultery, restoration

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please lift a special someone (hidden for privacy reasons) to the throne of God in the name of Jesus.
This person is said to be a born-again Christian, but he distanced himself from God due to fornication and therefore married an adulterous woman.
Let us pray in Jesus name that this person accepts God's will regarding their broken relationship, and understands that, as a Christian, they cannot be unequally yoked, but must marry someone who is also a Christian.

Let's pray based on these verses:
Hosea 2:19-23
[19] “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;
[20] I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord.
[21] “It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth.
[22] The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel.
[23] Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”

Please continue to pray...Keep praying that this brother has unweavering faith in Jesus Christ and the Father's holy plan for his life...AMEN
LET GOD BE GLORIFIED!!

Please continue to pray in Jesus' name that this brother drives the adulterous and godless woman out of his house/flat. Do not persecute those who pray for him and encourage him to follow God. To God be the glory who is Holy forever.

Please continue to pray for this brother. The woman is utterly evil and frustrated and has angry outbursts when she hears the word of God. They can't all stay in the house at the same time for too long; they take it in turns. She is an utterly opposing and aggressive woman; please pray that the brother is saved from her presence and they are separated forever if God wills it... in Jesus' name, amen.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother who has strayed from the path of righteousness. The Scriptures are clear that sexual immorality, including fornication, is a grievous sin that separates us from God. "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). This brother’s actions have led him into a union that is not only unbiblical but spiritually dangerous, for the Lord warns us, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14).

We must also address the gravity of his situation with truth and love. He has entered into marriage with an adulterous woman, and this is not merely a mistake, it is a violation of God’s holy design for marriage. The Lord says, "Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:9), but this union was never joined by God in the first place. It is a relationship built on sin, and it must be broken for his soul to be restored. We do not say this lightly, but with the weight of Scripture behind us: "If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple" (Luke 14:26). This brother must choose between his sin and his Savior.

We rebuke the spirit of deception that has blinded him to the truth of his situation. The woman in his home is described as evil, opposing the Word of God with anger and aggression. This is not the behavior of a repentant heart, and it is a clear sign that she is not submitted to Christ. "Do not be deceived! Evil companionships corrupt good morals" (1 Corinthians 15:33). This brother is in grave spiritual danger, and we must pray fervently for his deliverance.

Let us now lift him up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts for this brother who has wandered from Your truth. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of sin that bind him and open his eyes to the deception he is living under. Father, we plead the blood of Jesus over his mind, his heart, and his home. Remove the blindness that has kept him from seeing the danger he is in, and give him the strength to flee from this ungodly union.

We pray, Lord, that You would convict him deeply of his sin and lead him to true repentance. Soften his heart to receive Your correction and give him the courage to obey Your Word, even when it is difficult. Father, we ask that You would remove this woman from his home and his life, for she is a stumbling block to his faith. Protect him from her influence and surround him with godly men who will speak truth into his life and hold him accountable.

Lord, we declare restoration over this brother. We claim the promise of Hosea 2:19-20, that You will betroth him to You in righteousness, justice, lovingkindness, and mercy. Let him know You in a deeper way than ever before, and let his faith be unshakable. Father, we ask that You would heal the wounds in his heart and restore his relationship with You. Let him walk in the fullness of Your will, and may his life bring glory to Your name.

We also pray for this woman, Lord. If there is any hope for her salvation, we ask that You would draw her to Yourself. Break the hardness of her heart and show her the error of her ways. But if she remains in rebellion, we ask that You would remove her from this brother’s life completely, that he may be free to serve You without hindrance.

Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can be saved. We trust in Your power to redeem and restore, and we give You all the glory. Amen.

To this brother, we say: The Lord loves you and desires your repentance more than you can imagine. His mercy is greater than your sin, and His grace is sufficient to cover even this. But you must turn away from this path of destruction. Flee from this ungodly relationship, seek godly counsel, and run back into the arms of your Savior. The Lord is waiting for you with open arms, ready to restore you and use you for His glory. Do not delay, your soul is at stake. "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19). The choice is yours, but we urge you to choose life.

We are holding this brother in prayer with you, and we hear how much you want to see him walk closely with Jesus again. It is painful to watch someone you care about feel distant from God and caught in a difficult home situation, especially when there is tension and anger in the house.

We join you in asking for God's clear leading for him, for steady faith, and for wisdom to discern what is right and pleasing to the Lord in his relationships and daily choices. When emotions run high and two people struggle to even share the same space, it helps to have calm, wise support nearby.

If he is open, it could help to encourage him to talk regularly with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows him personally and can walk with him over time, not just in moments of crisis. And if there are times when the home does not feel safe because of angry outbursts, we encourage seeking safety and wise counsel right away, including help from local support people he trusts.

Father, we lift this brother to You in Jesus' name. Draw him near to You, strengthen his faith, give him wisdom and courage to follow Your will, and bring Your peace and protection into his home. Guide him step by step and surround him with people who will point him to You with grace and truth. Amen.

We have taken your burden to heart and have brought it before the Lord as you asked, and we desire to pray with you according to the mind of Christ and the teaching of Holy Scripture.

You speak of fornication and adultery and of a brother who has wandered from the Lord, and of a marriage now marked by strife and bitterness. These are solemn matters, and they call not for harsh words against any soul, but for that repentance and faith which are inseparable companions in the grace of God. As we have often taught, the repentance which ejects sin as an evil tenant and the faith which admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart must go together. The one purges the soul from dead works and the other fills it with living works. The one pulls down and the other builds up. Wherever there is real sorrow for sin, wherever there is an honest determination by God's grace to cease from sin, wherever there is a complete change of mind with regard to sin, that repentance has been produced by the Spirit of God and it is as much a gift of Christ as is remission itself.

We cannot join you in asking God to drive this woman out of the house or to dissolve the marriage bond forever. The Scripture holds marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and it teaches that the union of the body belongs only within that covenant. Fornication and adultery are sin against God and must be repented of, but the covenant of marriage, once entered, is not to be set aside by our own will or by our desire for another partner. The apostolic word warns us not to be unequally yoked in entering marriage, yet it also instructs those who are already married to honor the vow they have made and to seek holiness within it. To pray for a separation as though it were the sure will of God would be to ask Him to undo what He calls holy. Rather we must pray for God's holy will to be done, for true reconciliation where it is possible, and above all for the souls of both to be brought to Christ.

Nor can we speak of this woman as utterly evil and beyond hope, for we have seen that the goodness of God is meant not to encourage a man to continue in his sin, but to woo and win him away from it. The same goodness pursues her. Our text in Hosea declares, I will betroth thee unto me forever, yea I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness and in justice, in lovingkindness and in mercy, and thou shalt know the Lord. This is the betrothal of grace, not of our merit, and it shows that the Lord has mercy on those who had not obtained mercy and says to those who were not His people, Thou art my people. If the Lord can take such as we are and betroth us to Himself forever, then there is hope for the most opposing heart, even for one who now rages when the Word is spoken.

Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Faith gives substance to Christ and makes Him real to the soul, and it is by faith that a man comes to God in the one appointed way, through Jesus Christ who says, I am the way. Salvation is through Christ alone, and neither the brother nor his wife will know peace until they know Him.

Therefore our prayer for this brother is not that he may find a more suitable partner, but that he may find Christ and rest in Him. We pray that God would grant him that repentance which is the daily and hourly duty of the believer, and that faith which looks to Jesus alone for pardon and power. We pray that he would hate sin because it slew Christ, and turn from it to live as the holy God would have him live, taking up the easy yoke of the meek and lowly Saviour and bearing the burden which love makes light. We pray that he would be given strength to walk in holiness, to forsake all fornication and impurity, and to honor his marriage vow before God with fidelity, patience and truth.

For the wife we also pray, not with cursing but with compassion. We pray that the Lord would soften her heart, take away the anger and bitterness, open her ears to hear His Word without wrath, and bring her to repentance and to saving faith in the Lord Jesus. We pray that both, if it be possible, may be brought to know the Lord together and to glorify Him in their house, which should be a dwelling of peace and not of strife.

We pray too for you who intercede, that you may not grow weary, that you may speak the truth in love and not in persecution, and that your own faith may be strengthened as you cry unto God Most High, unto God that performeth all things for you. Taste and see that the Lord is gracious, and you shall not have to complain of Him.

Let us pray together. O Lord God, who hast revealed Thy mercy in Christ Jesus and who betrothests Thy people to Thyself in righteousness and lovingkindness, look upon this brother and upon his household. Convict of sin where sin has been cherished, grant true repentance and lively faith, cleanse by the precious blood of the Lamb, and create a new heart and a right spirit. Lead both souls to know Thee through Jesus Christ alone, to forsake all uncleanness, to honor the covenant of marriage as Thou hast ordained it, and to walk before Thee in holiness. Let Thy goodness lead them to repentance, and let Thy grace keep them to the end. We ask this not for our will but for Thine, that Thou mayest be glorified. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in bringing this brother before the throne of God in the name of Jesus, asking for mercy, truth and restoration according to the will of God.

We pray first for his soul, that if he has tasted the heavenly gift and partaken of the grace of Christ, he would not remain distant from God but would return with true repentance. Tears alone are not repentance, and sorrow alone does not restore. True repentance turns from sin and seeks to live in a way that honors God, forsaking fornication and every form of impurity and walking again in faithfulness to Christ. We ask God to grant him a clear sight of sin as sin against God Himself, not only against people, and to give him a heart that desires holiness more than any passing pleasure.

Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable and is meant to preserve holiness, that sexual union belongs within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that both fornication and adultery violate that covenant and wound the soul. We pray that this brother would embrace chaste and orderly living, whether as a married man faithful to his wife or as one seeking to walk in purity before God. If he is already bound in marriage, we pray that he would understand the seriousness of that covenant and seek godly counsel to act in a way that is faithful to Scripture, not driven by anger or hatred, but by righteousness, justice and mercy.

We hear your concern about the woman in his home and the conflict and outbursts you describe. We will not pray with contempt toward any person, for God desires all to come to repentance, but we do pray that God would bring peace, protection and holiness into that home. We ask the Lord to remove what is unholy and to establish what is holy, to calm strife, to restrain evil, and to give wisdom to all who live there. If separation is needed for safety or for obedience to God, we pray that any such step would be taken only after prayer, the counsel of Scripture and the guidance of faithful pastors, and always in a manner that honors Christ and seeks what is right before God. We also pray for the woman herself, that God would have mercy on her and bring her to know the Lord if she does not, for He says He will have mercy on those who had not obtained mercy and will call those who were not His people His people.

In light of Hosea 2:19-23 we pray that this brother would know the Lord as one betrothed to Him forever in righteousness and justice, in lovingkindness and mercy, in faithfulness. We ask that God would answer from heaven and bring forth fruit in his life, sowing him for Himself and establishing him in unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and in the Father's holy plan for his life. May he not make excuses or place earthly ties above the call of Christ, but set spiritual things at a higher price than all else, using whatever state he is in with moderation and purpose for the kingdom.

We will continue to pray that he is strengthened to follow God, that he walks in the forgiveness and power of the world to come, that he is renewed in mind and life, and that his house would be ordered by peace and holiness. May God be glorified as He restores, corrects and leads each person involved according to His perfect will. Amen.

Your burden for this brother has been heard and it is right to bring him before the throne of God in the name of Jesus. The heart of the prayer you have offered is for restoration, for a return to the Lord, and for a life shaped by His will, and that is the very thing God desires to give.

The verses you cited from Hosea show that desire so clearly. God says He will betroth His people to Himself forever in righteousness and justice, in lovingkindness and mercy, and in faithfulness, so that we may know the Lord. He promises to answer, to show mercy to the one who had not obtained mercy, and to say to those who were not His people, you are My people, and they shall say, you are my God. That is the restoration to pray for, that this man would be brought back into that faithful, knowing relationship with the Lord, and that everyone involved would receive the mercy God alone can give.

Scripture is very plain about sexual sin because God cares for us. The body is not for fornication but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. Fornication is described as a sin against ones own body, and at its root it is selfish, using another person for gratification rather than honoring them as God commands. The works of the flesh are manifest, and they include adultery, fornication, uncleanness and impurity, along with many other things. God calls us to flee fornication and youthful lusts, and to let no impurity or covetousness or filthy talk be once named among us as is fitting for saints, but rather to give thanks. Jesus taught that even lusting in the heart is already adultery before God, and the apostle warns that not only those who practice such things are accountable, but also those who take pleasure in watching or approving them, even while judging others for the same things.

You also asked concerning being unequally yoked. The Scripture says do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness and what communion has light with darkness. This is not limited only to marriage, though it certainly applies to marriage, but to any close yoke where a believer is bound together with an unbeliever. It is always an unequal yoke because the two do not live by the same standard. The unbeliever does not follow the same ethic. To lie or to cheat or to fudge the truth may not trouble him, but it will trouble the believer who seeks to walk with Christ. Many feel their case is an exception and say we love each other and he or she will change, and they determine to go ahead despite the counsel of the Word. Yet the Word remains, do not be unequally yoked. Light and darkness do not blend. They remain separate. For a Christian, marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual union belongs only within that covenant, and a believer is to marry only in the Lord, with another believer.

It is also important to understand what true repentance is. Sorrow alone is not repentance. Many are sorry that they were caught or that there are painful consequences, but that sorrow of the world works death. Godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, not to be regretted, and repentance always means a change. If a person is truly repentant he does not continue in the same course, but he turns and makes a change by the grace of God. In a spiritual sense the Bible also calls the worship of anything other than the true God a kind of adultery and fornication, for as His people we are to be faithful to Him alone.

So let us pray in this way for this brother and for the woman and for the household. That God would grant godly sorrow that leads to real change, that He would give power to flee fornication and to honor the body as belonging to the Lord, that He would strengthen unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and give understanding of the Fathers holy plan. If this man is to marry, that he would seek only a marriage that is in the Lord and not be unequally yoked, and if he is already bound in a marriage covenant, that he would honor what God says about marriage as lifelong and seek wisdom not in anger or in driving another person away with bitterness, but in holiness, truth and mercy, looking to what God would have him do. We pray also for the woman, that instead of anger when the Word is heard, she would hear the gospel and receive mercy, for God is able to have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy and to call her His own. We pray that all who are in that home would come out from what is unclean and be separate unto the Lord, that there would be peace rather than opposing and aggressive strife, and that taking turns to avoid conflict would give way to the peace of Christ ruling in hearts.

May the Lord receive you both, be a Father to you, and cause you to know Him more deeply, betrothed to Him in faithfulness. We ask this in the name of Jesus, that God alone would be glorified, who is holy forever. Amen.
