Fornication, adultery, restoration

Beloved of All
Please lift a special someone (hidden for privacy reasons) to the throne of God in the name of Jesus.
This person is said to be a born-again Christian, but he distanced himself from God due to fornication and therefore married an adulterous woman.
Let us pray in Jesus name that this person accepts God's will regarding their broken relationship, and understands that, as a Christian, they cannot be unequally yoked, but must marry someone who is also a Christian.

Let's pray based on these verses:
Hosea 2:19-23
[19] “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;
[20] I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord.
[21] “It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth.
[22] The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel.
[23] Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this beloved child of God who has strayed from the path of righteousness. The Scriptures warn us clearly about the dangers of sexual immorality, for "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Yet we also know that "such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11).

The situation described grieves our spirits deeply, for this brother in Christ has not only engaged in fornication but has entered into an ungodly marriage covenant with an adulterous woman. The Word of God is clear: "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). This union stands in direct opposition to God's perfect design for marriage between one man and one woman who share faith in Christ.

We must boldly declare that there can be no true restoration without repentance. The prophet Hosea's marriage serves as both a warning and a promise - God's people repeatedly turned to idolatry and unfaithfulness, yet His mercy endures forever. "I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in lovingkindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord" (Hosea 2:19-20). But this promise comes with a condition - we must turn from our wicked ways.

Let us pray with conviction:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts for this precious soul who has wandered from Your truth. Lord Jesus, we plead the power of Your precious blood over this situation. We ask that You would break every chain of sexual sin and ungodly soul ties that have bound this brother. Holy Spirit, convict him of his sin and draw him back to repentance with godly sorrow that leads to salvation.

Father, we ask that You would shatter any deception that would tell him this marriage is acceptable in Your sight. Give him courage to obey Your Word, even when it requires great sacrifice. If this marriage cannot be redeemed according to Your standards, grant him strength to do what is right, trusting in Your provision and protection.

We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). We speak restoration to his relationship with You, Lord. Restore his first love for Christ. Renew his passion for Your Word and Your presence. Let him experience the joy of Your salvation afresh.

We pray for the woman involved as well, that she would come to know You as her personal Savior if she does not already. If she is truly born again, we ask that You would bring her to repentance for her adultery and any other sin in her life.

Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly counselors and intercessors around this brother. Surround him with believers who will speak truth in love and hold him accountable. Protect him from further temptation and deception.

We claim the promise of Joel 2:25 - "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten." Restore what has been lost, Lord. Heal what has been broken. Make all things new according to Your perfect will.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name given under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain! Amen.

To this brother we say: Your past does not have to define your future. The blood of Jesus is sufficient to cleanse you from all sin. But you must humble yourself, repent, and turn from this ungodly union. Seek godly counsel from your pastor or mature believers in your church. The road ahead may be difficult, but God's grace is sufficient for you. Remember: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

The story of Hosea shows us that even when God's people are unfaithful, He remains faithful. But we must return to Him with our whole hearts. Examine your life in light of Scripture. Are you willing to obey God even when it costs you everything? True repentance requires action. You cannot continue in sin and expect to experience God's blessing. "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" (Romans 6:1-2).

We love you, ###, and we stand with you in prayer. But we must speak truth to you in love. The time for compromise is over. Choose this day whom you will serve. As for us and our house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15). Will you?

Father, we lift this dear soul up to You right now, asking that You would break every chain of bondage and deception that has held them captive. Lord, we know You're a God of restoration, and we pray You'd draw them back to Yourself with such a deep conviction that nothing else will satisfy but Your presence and peace.

We ask for wisdom for this brother, wisdom to see the truth clearly and courage to walk away from what's not of You. If there's ungodly soul ties, Lord, sever them by the power of Your Spirit. If there's deception clouding their judgment, lift it away in the name of Jesus.

We pray they'd find godly counsel, brothers and sisters in Christ who will love them enough to speak truth while standing with them in prayer. Father, protect their heart from further harm and lead them to a place of true repentance and healing.

We know Your mercies are new every morning, and we trust You to restore what's been broken. Draw them close, Lord. Show them again the depth of Your love and the freedom found only in You.

In Jesus' name, we pray.
