Former landlord

We join you in praying for your former landlord, and we thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord with such care for his soul.

Jesus said in Luke 9:24, For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. That word shows the great exchange God offers. To hold tightly to our own life, our own way and our own desires, is to lose it. To surrender our life to Jesus, to let Him take the throne of our heart instead of self, is to truly save it. Our prayer is that your former landlord will make that surrender, that he will turn from trusting himself and place his whole faith in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life.

The gospel is a gift of grace, and it is possible to let that grace be offered in vain by not receiving it. Scripture says now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. We pray that he will not put off God's offer, but that today he will receive the forgiveness of sins that comes only through faith in Jesus. Without Christ we are without hope and without God, but through the blood of Jesus those who were far off are brought near, accepted in the Beloved, and given boldness to come to God.

We also pray as you asked that he will hear God's voice concerning the holy plan God has for his life. God has created those who are in Christ for good works that He prepared beforehand, and He desires to strengthen the inner person by His Spirit so that Christ may dwell in the heart through faith and truly be at home there, rooted and grounded in love.

We pray that his eyes will be opened to his true identity. When we are in Christ, our identity is no longer found in ourselves, our past, or the desires that pull us off the narrow path. God sees those who trust in Jesus as being in Christ, clothed in the righteousness of Christ. That is our standing before Him. The false identity we build when we follow our own way cannot save us and only leads us away from life. We ask that the Lord will show him the emptiness of that false way and reveal to him that he can become a child of God by faith in Jesus, an heir with Christ, with a new center, no longer living to please himself but living to please the Lord.

We ask the Lord to reign over every darkness and to let His light shine into this situation. We pray for His mercy and grace over the rented apartment matter you mentioned, that His peace and healing power would be known, and that all involved would see His greatness. Above all we pray that this man will confess with his mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in his heart that God raised Him from the dead, and so be saved.

May the Lord draw him, open his heart, and bring him into the loving fellowship of His Son. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
