Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your honest cry for mercy is heard, and it is good that you mourn for this sin. When God comforts, He comforts those who mourn for their misdoings, and His comfort is far greater than our labors. He does not only remove punishment or deliver from sin, but He forgives and makes blessed, giving abundant consolation to those who turn to Him with a contrite heart.
Do not despair, for Christ Himself bore our sins. He took them and bore them to the Father, not to condemn us, but to forgive us. Scripture says blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered. This blessedness is not a debt for work done, but a gift of grace. Where there is forgiveness, shame is removed and glory is given, and you can receive this forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone when you confess and turn from sin.
God calls you from uncleanness to purity. He made us to be as angels, not to remain like horses mad with lust. This healing will come as you walk step by step with Him, as a child learns letters. Divide virtue into its parts and practice them in order. Learn first to turn your eyes away and to flee what feeds lust, then to practice continence and temperance, to be gentle and contrite in mind, and to write these things upon your soul. Guard your heart, stay in the word, in prayer, and in fellowship where you can be honest and accountable.
We pray for you now, that the Lord in His love would forgive you, cleanse you, and heal you. May He give you strength to turn from porn and lust, to find no comfort in them again, and to live in purity and self control. May He restore to you a pure heart and a steadfast spirit, and keep you by His grace, so that you may walk in newness of life and know the comfort of those who are forgiven.
