Forgiveness

We hear your cry for forgiveness and for healing from porn and lust and we join with you before the throne of grace in Jesus' name, thanking God that you have brought this struggle into the light instead of hiding it any longer.

We want to gently but firmly say that pornography and lust are sin before a holy God. Jesus taught us that lust itself is adultery of the heart, everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28. Scripture also commands us to flee sexual immorality, every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. Pornography trains the mind to use others made in God's image for selfish gratification rather than honoring God and honoring the gift of intimacy which He designed only for the lifelong marriage covenant between a man and a woman. We rebuke this sin in love because we know it wounds your soul, defiles your conscience, and grieves the Holy Spirit, and we urge you to turn from it completely and not make any provision for the flesh.

We also rejoice that you are asking the Lord for healing and forgiveness, for our God is merciful and ready to forgive when we come in true repentance. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us Psalm 103:12. He can create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you Psalm 51:10.

You cried out to Lord, and we want to lovingly point you to the name by which we have access to that forgiveness and healing. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ, His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection, that our guilt is washed away and we receive power to overcome sin. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Romans 10:9-10.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is battling porn and lust. Lord have mercy and grant full forgiveness as he confesses and turns from this sin. Wash him clean by the blood of Jesus. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within him. Heal his mind and eyes and heart from the images and cravings that have taken root. Teach him to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to be transformed by the renewing of his mind Romans 12:2. Give him strength to flee temptation and to walk by the Spirit so that he will not fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16. We ask You to provide a way of escape in every temptation as You have promised 1 Corinthians 10:13, and to fill the empty places with Your presence, Your Word, and godly fellowship. Help him to bring this struggle into the light with a trusted mature Christian brother for accountability and prayer, for You say confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed James 5:16. Keep him from returning to this sin and let him know the joy of a conscience cleansed and a life set free. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to take decisive practical steps as God works in you. Cut off every source of temptation at its root. If your eye causes you to stumble, remove what causes you to stumble, which may mean installing filters, removing apps, keeping devices in open areas, and refusing to be alone with unfiltered internet. Feed your mind daily with Scripture and fill your time with prayer, worship, work, and fellowship so that lust has less room to grow. Walk in the light and do not fight this battle alone, seek a pastor or godly mature believer to whom you can be honest and accountable weekly. And when temptation comes, run to Jesus immediately in prayer, remember who you are in Him, and choose the way of escape He provides.

God loves you and is not finished with you. Do not let shame drive you away from Him, but let it drive you deeper into His grace to live in holiness. We are praying that you will know the freedom of a cleansed conscience and the strength to live pure before Him.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. It takes courage to name this struggle so plainly before the Lord, and we are grateful you did.

We hear your desire not just to stop a behavior but to be healed and made whole. That longing itself matters to God. Shame can make this feel lonely, as if you have to fight it alone in secret, but healing often grows when what has been hidden is brought into trusted light.

One steady next step that helps many is not trying to white knuckle it alone. Would you consider inviting one safe, mature believer into this with you, a pastor or counselor or faithful friend who can walk with you regularly, pray with you, and help you put practical guardrails in place. That might look like honest check ins, filtering on devices, and noticing the times and places you feel most vulnerable so you can make a different plan ahead of time. If you find the pattern feels stuck, meeting with a pastor or Christian counselor can give you more personal support.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, we bring our brother before you in Jesus name. You see his heart and his desire to be clean and free. Grant him your mercy, strength for each day, wisdom for each choice, and hope that does not shame him. Lead him to trustworthy help and surround him with your grace as he walks toward healing. Amen.

There is forgiveness with God, and your short, earnest cry has come to the right place. Do you tremble and shake for fear, and with a penitent heart desire forgiveness. Then hear the good word which the Lord sends to such as you are, there is forgiveness.

It is a divine forgiveness, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. Were all men to hiss at you and wish you gone, you would not need their forgiveness to enter heaven. You need His, and His you may have. It is a surprising forgiveness, so surprising that the Lord repeats Himself, I, even I, as if He were surprised that such sins should be remitted, lest any of us should doubt it. If you have been the chief of sinners, you may have the chief of sinners forgiveness, and God can bestow it now.

You lie in a sense like the man borne of four and laid before Jesus, hoping and expecting both forgiveness and healing. Mark the order of the Lord with that man. First forgiveness, then healing. Jesus said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee, and afterward He bade him arise and walk. So it is with you. Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction, and both are bestowed on the Lord's people. Pardon and healing were one when Jesus healed the sick of the palsy.

Do as Martin Luther did in the days of his dark distress, when a brother monk said to him, Do you not believe in the Creed, and do you not say, I believe in the forgiveness of sins. Now believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself. This sentence contains no conditions for the repenting and believing sinner. The tally is destroyed, the record of your debt is nailed to the Cross. Suppose you call on your creditor and say to him, I have nothing to pay with, the Lord proclaims oblivion to all your debt when you put your trust in Christ. It is a complete forgiveness, an absolute forgiveness, and an eternal forgiveness, for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He never plays fast and loose with men. He not only forgave us at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive, for the act of forgiveness is a continuous one.

And with that forgiveness comes healing. You ask, Heal me of porn and lust, Lord. Heal me. Know then that there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. These healing leaves change the life blood, affect the spirits and make the nature other than it was before. When the Sun of Righteousness rises upon you with healing in His wings, the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, for the people that dwell there shall be forgiven their iniquity.

Yet hear also the word concerning purity, for charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and charity without purity will be of no use. Without holiness no man shall see the Lord. The blessed purity of our holy faith is conspicuous not only in its precepts but in the character of the God whom it reveals. Lust, when it has conceived, bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death. That is the pedigree of sin, it is born of lust and it bringeth forth death. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death, rest assured of that. The corruption that is in the world is through lust, and you are called to escape it and be made a partaker of the Divine Nature, having been born anew by regeneration and lifted up into familiarity with God.

God made sex and ordained it to belong within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman in marriage. What you confess, the looking upon what is not yours to look upon and the indulging of lust in heart and eye, runs against that holy order. Do not seek that God should bless the sin while you remain in it. Seek that He should forgive it, cleanse it, and lead you out of it into purity.

Therefore come to Him now, just as you are, confessing your sin without excuse, turning from it, and trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. There is forgiveness with Him at this moment. There was forgiveness, there is forgiveness, there will be forgiveness as long as life lasts, and where God draws no limit, do not you draw any. It is not forgiveness up to a certain point or up to a certain date, but a glorious fullness with no abridging or qualifying words.

May the Lord grant you present forgiveness, and with it the removal of the consequences of sin. May He give you a new nature that hates the sin you once loved, eyes that turn away, a mind that is washed, and feet that flee temptation. Cry to Him daily, walk in the light, bring your struggle into the open with faithful brethren, and cut off every provision for the flesh. He who has forgiven you will also heal you, and what follows after forgiveness shall be a life made clean by His healing leaves.

Being honest about this is the hardest part. There's a short spoken prayer called the Addiction Clearing Prayer on the ### YouTube channel, prayed over loosening addiction's hold, and you only have to listen. I hope the weight starts lifting.
