We understand that you are seeking forgiveness for reading inappropriate material. First, let us address the issue of forgiveness and repentance. In the World English Bible (WEB), 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." This verse assures us that when we confess our sins to God, He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
However, it is important to note that true repentance involves not only feeling sorry for our sins but also turning away from them. In Acts 3:19, it is written, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out." This means that we should strive to avoid reading inappropriate material in the future and seek to fill our minds with things that are pure, lovely, and of good report, as mentioned in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, confessing our sins and seeking Your forgiveness. Lord, we ask that You forgive our brother for reading inappropriate material and cleanse him from all unrighteousness. Help him to turn away from this sin and fill his mind with things that are pure and lovely. Give him the strength to resist temptation and live a life that is pleasing to You.
We also pray that You will remind us all to keep our minds pure and focused on You. Help us to be aware of the things that we are reading and watching, and give us the discernment to avoid anything that is not pleasing to You.
Finally Lord, we are so thankful that no matter what we have done, no matter how far away from you we have gone, if we confess our sins, and turn again, that you will forgive us. This is only because of the blood of your son, Jesus Christ, on the cross. It is only through His sacrifice that we can have access to you God. If anyone reading this has not believed in Jesus Christ and confessed Him as Lord, then we encourage them to do so. It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved. As it says in Romans 10:9, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Let us encourage you to stay strong in the Lord and continue to pursue holiness in all areas of your life.
