Father, I totally forgive my wife for everything, so that she may by the kindness of God be lead to repentance, Rom 2:4, Matt 16:19, John 20:23, and that I may demonstrate my sins have forgiven been forgiven me, as I forgive others, specifically the one who has hurt me most, Matt 6:15, Mk 11:26, Eph 4:32, Col 3:13, even as Jesus asked that You forgive those who crucified Him, "Father, forgive them, they don't know what they're doing," Luke 23:17, and Stephen in Acts imitated this while being stoned to death, "Lord, do not count this sin against them," Acts 7:59-60, yet we know each person must live according to the holiness without which no one will see The Lord, Hebrews 12:4, since all humans are speeding toward one of two ends: The Harlot of Babylon (who is to be destroyed), Ps 137:8, Isa 21:9, Rev 18:2, Rev 18:10, Rev 18:6, Rev 18:21, OR The Holy Bride of Christ, Isa 25:6, Ps 45:10, Hosea 2:19-20, Matt 22:2, John 3:29, 2 Cor 11:2, Eph 5:25-27, Eph 5:32-33, Rev 19:7-9, Rev 21:1-3, Rev 22:17...

Of course we pray for honesty, Zech 8:16-17, Col 3:9, Eph 4:25, and that she does not continue in sin, so that nothing worse may befall her, Jn 5:15, since sins of these natures are extremely deceptive and exclude from the eternal kingdom, 1 Cor 6:9-10, Rev 22:15-16, and God cannot be mocked, Gal 6:7, since the deeds of the flesh are evident, Gal 5:19-21, but rather she'd REPENT, turn back to God so she can be saved, Luke 24:46-47, Experiences Refreshing, Acts 3:19, Renewal by Your washing of regeneration by Your mercy, since the kindness of God has appeared, so we might be justified by faith, in Jesus Christ, be made heirs with Him, share the hope of eternal life, and we devote ourselves to good deeds, Tit 3:3-8, but rather bear the lawful fruit of The Holy Spirit consistently, Gal 5:22-23, Matt 3:8, Rom 7:4...

We ask her mind would be set free by by the Light of God's Word, so Light would shine in her heart so she may receive the Light of The Knowledge of The Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ, 2 Cor 4:4-6, sees the beauty and benefit of God's ways, quits any bitterness or unbelief in serving self over God Gen 3:1-15, receives a new heart, Ezek 36:26, by experiencing the New Birth Jesus said is a necessity to enter or even see the kingdom of God, Jn 3:3-7...

Father, You will that none would perish but all come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9. Grant her wisdom and revelation to actually know You, Eph 1:17. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of The Holy one is understanding, Prov 9:10. Surely You take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather they turn from their evil ways and live, Ezek 33:11... You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4. Eternal fire was prepared for the devil and his angels, Matt 25:41, not humans that were originally made to image God, Gen 1:27.

We ask for grace and discipline to add fasting, Mk 4:29, which the early church said, "fasting and giving lends wings to prayer," (Early Church Father in The Public Domain, 155AD - 240AD). Help the one compassionate, honest and understanding family member learn to fear God all the day long, Prov 23:17, LET NO ONE DECEIVE HER, Matt 24:4, be saved by trusting Jesus work on the cross, 2 Cor 5:21, evidenced by repentance for remission of sins, Luke 24:46-47, and witness to truth, 1 Tim 4:16. Hosea's "deal with Gomer" was based on repentance and faithfulness, see Hos 3:1-5. Jesus, after pronouncing that forgiving the sins of other has authority, John 8:10-11, John 20:23, said, "Go and sin no more," John 8:11.

I've reached out, am still reaching out, have prayed and fasted, am still praying and asking for wisdom and grace now discipline to fast -- let her not be to me as most of Jerusalem was unwilling to gather under the Shelter of Wings of God Almighty, Ps 17:8, Ps 57:1, 91:1, or come to Jesus, over which He publicly wept, they having stoned those sent to rescue them, Matt 23:37... I am praying for the love of Christ to compel me, 2 Cor 5:14-15, and ASKING for mercy, kindness for repentance and salvation, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Tim 2:1-7. Maybe she was saved or probably just a church goer, but, regardless, "If any of you wanders from the truth and someone turns her back it's considered turning a sinner from the errors of their ways, and counted as a soul saved from death, and covers a multitude of sins, James 5:19-20? I ask for that THAT -- may THAT yield a remarkable testimony of God's saving grace, 1 Tim 1:15-16, and exemplify a living testimony of Christ and The Church, Eph 5:32-33. We have all heard or seen such testimonies, and they do prove an intrinsic beauty of God's renewing of the mind and perfect will, Rom 12:2-3, so that the words of Augustine are proved true, "To err is human, to forgive is divine." So I cry out for wisdom, Prov 2:1-5, ask to be filled with the knowledge of God's will so I may walk worthily, Col 1:9-10, James 1:5, and for love to abound in knowledge and discernment to choose the highest, Phil 1:9-11, yet asking for it loosely as CHRIST in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matt 26:39, Mk 14:36 -- NEVERTHELESS, let YOUR WILL BE DONE, not mine, Luke 22:42, Heb 5:7.

Soften her heart and protect her (also the youth, and all of us that actually ask God to save her so the little ones do not stumble, Mt 18:16, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2), keep her from temptation and evil, Matt 6:13. Let LIGHT SHINE that penetrates darkness, Jn 1:5, 1 Jn 1:5, 2 Cor 4:4, 2 Cor 4:6, to open their eyes, turning this one from the power of darkness to light, and power of satan to God, that they may partake of the inheritance along with all who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 26:18, 1 Cor 1:30. Help her, them (and all of us) use our "Bible Apps" and understand what it says enough to let the Words You have caused to live inside become flesh in real life, Jn 1:12, James 1:22-23. Let "Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed," Gal 3:1, and model it to each and every family member, those most near and dear and beyond and blinded -- let us be living epistles known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2. All Scripture is inspired by God Almighty and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right," 2 Tim 3:15-16. "Do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one," John 17:15. We join you in thanking our Father that He was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting our trespasses against us as it says in 2 Cor 5:19, and we stand with you in this declaration of forgiveness toward your wife. We hear your heart to forgive verbally and fully as Christ forgave, that by the kindness of God she may be led to repentance according to Rom 2:4, and that you may walk in obedience to Eph 4:32 and Col 3:13 to forgive even as God in Christ forgave us, and to Matt 6:14 and Mark 11:25 that we must forgive others if we would be forgiven.

We also affirm the holy balance you have set forth in Scripture, that forgiveness pronounced does not mean sin excused. When Jesus lifted up the woman caught in adultery He said Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more in John 8:11, and to the man healed at the pool He said Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you in John 5:14. True forgiveness always calls the sinner to true repentance. As it is written in Luke 24:47 that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all the nations, and in Acts 3:19 Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord. We must rebuke and be clear here that any sexual immorality outside the marriage covenant, whether fornication or adultery, is sin before God. Such deeds of the flesh are evident as described in Gal 5:19-21 and those who practice such things without repentance will not inherit the Kingdom of God as warned in 1 Cor 6:9-10 and Rev 22:15, for God is not mocked in Gal 6:7 and we are called to pursue the holiness without which no man will see the Lord in Heb 12:14. Marriage is honorable among all and the marriage bed undefiled as taught in Heb 13:4, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and we pray for godly marriages that honor the Lord. Therefore forgiveness must be accompanied by forsaking sin and bearing fruit worthy of repentance in Matt 3:8 and walking in the fruit of the Spirit in Gal 5:22-23.

We are encouraged by your desire not merely for reconciliation of sentiment but for her new heart and new birth. We agree that what is needed is not behavior modification alone but the miracle Jesus spoke of in John 3:3 and John 3:7 that unless one is born anew he cannot see the Kingdom of God. We pray with you for Ezek 36:26 that God will give her a new heart and put a new spirit within her and remove the heart of stone, and for Jer 31:33 that He will put His law in her inward parts and write it on her heart. We pray that the god of this world who has blinded the minds of the unbelieving in 2 Cor 4:4 will be overcome by the light that shines in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ in 2 Cor 4:6, that she would quit choosing self over God as began in Gen 3:1-15 and receive the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit in Titus 3:5.

We also understand your reference to Hosea and Gomer in Hos 3:1-5. That prophet's restoration of his wife was not without repentance and a call to faithfulness, to be devoted to her husband alone and to put away harlotry. In the same way biblical restoration in marriage requires honesty in Zech 8:16 and Eph 4:25 and Col 3:9, a turning from darkness to light that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Christ in Acts 26:18.

We pray together now for you, for your wife, and for your family.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our one Mediator between God and men in 1 Tim 2:5, we thank You for Your mercy that endures forever and for the cross where You demonstrated Your love while we were yet sinners in Rom 5:8. We thank You for this husband's choice to forgive as You have forgiven him, even as Jesus prayed Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing in Luke 23:34 and as Stephen prayed Lord, do not hold this sin against them in Acts 7:60. Grant him continued grace to love with the love of Christ that compels us in 2 Cor 5:14, to walk in wisdom and to be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding in Col 1:9, and to have love abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment in Phil 1:9 that he may approve the things that are excellent. Give him wisdom liberally as promised in James 1:5 and Prov 2:1-6, and discipline to add fasting to prayer, and to seek You with all his heart.

Father, we lift this wife and mother before Your throne. You desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance in 2 Pet 3:9, You have no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from his way and live in Ezek 33:11, and You desire all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth in 1 Tim 2:4. Let Your kindness lead her to repentance. Open her eyes and turn her from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Soften her heart, protect her from temptation and the evil one as Jesus prayed in John 17:15 and Matt 6:13, and let no one deceive her as warned in Matt 24:4. Sanctify her through Your truth, Your word is truth in John 17:17. Let Your Word which is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness in 2 Tim 3:16 dwell richly in her, that she would not merely hear the Word with an app but be a doer of the Word in James 1:22. Grant her the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One which is understanding in Prov 9:10, and revelation in the knowledge of Christ in Eph 1:17.

We pray for the children and all loved ones, that the little ones would not be caused to stumble as warned in Matt 18:6 and Mark 9:42, but that they would be kept under the shadow of Your wings in Psalm 17:8 and Psalm 57:1 and Psalm 91:1. Make this family living letters known and read by all men in 2 Cor 3:2, and let Jesus Christ be openly portrayed among you in Gal 3:1.

We ask all of this loosely as Christ prayed in the garden, Nevertheless, not my will, but Yours be done in Luke 22:42 and Matt 26:39 and Mark 14:36, trusting that Your will is good and acceptable and perfect in Rom 12:2. We ask that if any wanders from the truth and someone turns him back, it will be counted as saving a soul from death and covering a multitude of sins in James 5:19-20, and that this would become a remarkable testimony of Your saving grace as in 1 Tim 1:16 and a living picture of Christ and the church in Eph 5:25-27 and Eph 5:32. We pray this in the name of Jesus, by whom alone we have access to the Father in John 14:6 and in whom we say Amen as in 2 Cor 1:20.

We were struck by the tenderness and persistence in your prayer for your wife. To choose forgiveness while still carrying the wound of betrayal is not a small thing, and we thank God for the mercy you want to extend as you have received mercy.

One thing that has helped others in your place is recognizing that the decision to forgive and the quieting of painful emotions often move at different speeds. You can sincerely release the debt and choose not to pursue revenge or avoidance, and still find that resentment, fear or sorrow surface again. That does not mean your decision was not real. It often means your heart needs more time, prayer and honest fellowship to catch up with what your will has already chosen.

As you keep praying and seeking wisdom about fasting and next steps, we encourage you to stay closely connected to one trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you both and can walk with you week by week. It helps to have someone to pray with, to help you discern how to love well, protect the young ones you mentioned, and care for your own heart without carrying this alone.

Father, we lift this husband to You and ask for daily strength, clear wisdom and peace as he waits on You. We ask You to guard his wife and the youth in this family from harm and deception, and to draw each heart toward Your light and truth. Give them both new hearts and faithful steps forward. We trust them to Your kind and sovereign will, in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has come before the Lord with many tears and much searching of Scripture, and there is in it that which God delights to hear, a spirit that forgives as it has been forgiven.

You have done well to forgive, even as Christ forgave those who knew not what they did, and as Stephen prayed for those who stoned him. Such a forgiving spirit is divine, for our God is greater at forgiving than we have ever dreamed, and when He pardons through the bleeding Sacrifice He is glorious indeed. To forgive the one who has wounded you most deeply is to show that you have tasted the riches of His grace in Christ who was reconciling the world unto Himself, not counting our trespasses against us.

Yet forgiveness in you must be met by repentance in the one forgiven, for repentance and remission are joined together in the name of Jesus and are to be preached together among all nations. Where there is no repentance there can be no remission, but where there is true repentance there is full and free forgiveness. Take heed then to pray not for a carnal repentance which is of the flesh, a trembling or a transient sorrow that soon fades, but for that repentance unto life which is the work of the Holy Spirit in the renewed heart.

True repentance will yield works meet for repentance. It will be practical and it will last, and it will give God glory. It does not merely weep over consequences, but it abhors sin itself because it is committed against so holy and so good a Being as the infinitely blessed God. It looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only, the faith which admits Christ to be sole master of the heart while repentance ejects sin as an evil tenant. Such repentance is not a thing done once at the beginning and then forgotten, for repentance lives as long as faith lives. It is the gift of God, preached in the name of Jesus, not after the manner of Moses who demands, but after the manner of Christ who gives.

Therefore pray that the goodness of God may lead her to repentance. The Lord does not drive men to repentance as a slave is driven with a whip, He draws them. His kindness, His forbearance, His daily mercies are meant to soften the heart of stone and to give a heart of flesh, as it is written, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again, and that new birth is the sovereign work of God shining light into the heart to give the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

This is what you must seek for her, that she may see the beauty and benefit of God's ways, quit the bitter service of self which began in Eden, and turn with godly sorrow that needs not to be repented of. Our Lord said to the woman, Go and sin no more, and again, Sin no more lest a worse thing come unto you. The holiness without which no one shall see the Lord is not an optional adornment, for the deeds of the flesh are evident and those who continue in them without repentance shall not inherit the kingdom. God cannot be mocked, yet He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but desires that the wicked turn from his way and live, for He wills that none should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Continue then in prayer, and if the Lord lays fasting upon you, use it as wings to prayer, not as a price to purchase favor, but as a humble waiting upon Him who hears. Guard your own heart, that you add to faith virtue and to virtue knowledge, that you may walk worthily and abound in love and discernment. And as Christ prayed in the garden, so pray you, Nevertheless not my will but Thine be done. You have sought to gather under His wings, you have loved and warned, and now you must leave the soul in the hands of Him who is able to make an everlasting covenant even with the chief of sinners, a covenant which breaks the heart and binds it anew.

May the Lord open her eyes and turn her from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that she may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith in Jesus. May He create in her a clean heart and renew a right spirit within her, and may your house be a living epistle known and read of all men, showing forth the mystery of Christ and His Church, where marriage is honored as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and the bed kept undefiled. And may He keep you and the little ones from temptation and from evil, sanctifying you by His truth, for His word is truth.
