Father, I totally forgive my wife for everything, so that she may by the kindness of God be lead to repentance, Rom 2:4, Matt 16:19, John 20:23, and that I may demonstrate my sins have forgiven been forgiven me, as I forgive others, specifically the one who has hurt me most, Matt 6:15, Mk 11:26, Eph 4:32, Col 3:13, even as Jesus asked that You forgive those who crucified Him, "Father, forgive them, they don't know what they're doing," Luke 23:17, and Stephen in Acts imitated this while being stoned to death, "Lord, do not count this sin against them," Acts 7:59-60, yet we know each person must live according to the holiness without which no one will see The Lord, Hebrews 12:4, since all humans are speeding toward one of two ends: The Harlot of Babylon (who is to be destroyed), Isa 21:9, Rev 18:2, Rev 18:10, Rev 18:6, Rev 18:21, OR The Holy Bride of Christ, Isa 25:6, Ps 45:10, Hosea 2:19-20, Matt 22:2, John 3:29, 2 Cor 11:2, Eph 5:25-27, Eph 5:32-33, Rev 19:7-9, Rev 21:1-3, Rev 22:17...

Of course we pray she does not continue in sin, that nothing worse may befall her, Jn 5:15, since sins of these natures are extremely deceptive and exclude from the eternal kingdom, 1 Cor 6:9-10, Rev 22:15-16, and God cannot be mocked, Gal 6:7, since the deeds of the flesh are evident, Gal 5:19-21, but rather she'd REPENT, turn back to God so she can be saved, Luke 24:46-47, Experiences Refreshing, Acts 3:19, Renewal by Your washing of regeneration by Your mercy, since the kindness of God has appeared, so we might be justified by faith, in Jesus Christ, be made heirs with Him, share the hope of eternal life, and devote ourselves to good deeds, Tit 3:3-8.

We ask for grace and discipline to add fasting, Mk 4:29, which the early church said, "fasting and giving lends wings to prayer," (Early Church Father in The Public Domain, 155AD - 240AD). Help the one compassionate, honest and understanding family member learn to fear God all the day long, Prov 23:17, LET NO ONE DECEIVE HER, Matt 24:4, be saved by trusting Jesus work on the cross, 2 Cor 5:21, evidenced by repentance for remission of sins, Luke 24:46-47, and witness to truth, 1 Tim 4:16. I forgive this one who has broken covenantal faith and vows with no confession, remorse or repentance, for leading men into astray and thus into destruction, Prov 6:32, for neglecting pastoral counsel, texts and phone calls for months from any church with an accurate view of discipleship. I forgive her, she knows not what she does, Luke 23:34. If a king's heart is as channels of water in Your hand, Prov 21:1, how much more an individual that has chosen to feed on raisin cakes and needs repentance from serious sins, which Hosea's "deal with her" was based on repentance and faithfulness, see Hos 3:1-5. Jesus, after pronouncing that forgiving the sins of other has authority, John 8:10-11, John 20:23, said, "Go and sin no more," John 8:11.

I've reached out, am still reaching out, have prayed and fasted, am still praying and asking for wisdom and grace now discipline to fast -- let her not be to me as most of Jerusalem was unwilling to gather under the Shelter of Wings of God Almighty, Ps 17:8, Ps 57:1, 91:1, or come to Jesus, over which He publicly wept, they having stoned those sent to rescue them, Matt 23:37... Thankfully she is in a country that is impossible to get the "D" word. I know I have the adultery clause from Jesus which allows me to "D" and remarry, Matt 5:32, Matt 19:9, however only in The Lord, 1 Cor 7:39, see being equally yoked, 2 Cor 6:14-15, Old Testament precedent, Gen 24:3-4. And if she is unsaved, which everything indicates, there is the desertion by an unbelieving spouse clause, 1 Cor 7:15, where traditional, modern and ancient Jewish theology all allow for remarriage as if the unbelieving spouse (or adulteress) "were dead." However I am thinking and ASKING for mercy, kindness for repentance and salvation here, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Tim 2:1-7. Maybe she was saved but probably just a church goer, but, regardless, "If any of you wanders from the truth and someone turns her back it's considered turning a sinner from the errors of their ways, and counted as a soul saved from death, and covers a multitude of sins, James 5:19-20? I ask for that THAT -- may THAT yield a remarkable testimony of God's saving grace, 1 Tim 1:15-16, and exemplify Christ and The Church, Eph 5:32-33. So I again ask for wisdom, Prov 2:1-5, Col 1:9-10, James 1:5, and for love to abound in knowledge and discernment to choose the highest, Phil 1:9-11, yet asking for it loosely as CHRIST in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matt 26:39, Mk 14:36 -- NEVERTHELESS, let YOUR WILL BE DONE, not mine, Luke 22:42, Heb 5:7.

Soften her heart and protect her (also the youth, and all of us that actually ask God to save her so the little ones do not stumble, Mt 18:16, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2), keep her from temptation and evil, Matt 6:13. Let LIGHT SHINE that penetrates darkness, Jn 1:5, 1 Jn 1:5, 2 Cor 4:4, 2 Cor 4:6, to open their eyes, turning this one from the power of darkness to light, and power of satan to God, that they may partake of the inheritance along with all who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 26:18, 1 Cor 1:30. Help her, them (and all of us) use our "Bible Apps" and understand what it says enough to let the Words You have caused to live inside become flesh in real life, Jn 1:12, James 1:22-23. Let "Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed," Gal 3:1, and model it to each and every family member, those most near and dear and beyond and blinded -- let us be living epistles known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2. All Scripture is inspired by God Almighty and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right," 2 Tim 3:15-16. "Do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one," John 17:15. We join you in this burden and we are deeply moved by your heart to forgive as Christ forgave, to pronounce forgiveness verbally and to seek not divorce but repentance and salvation for your wife and for your marriage.

We commend you for choosing forgiveness even when there has been no confession, remorse or repentance. This is the way of Christ. As it is written, Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Eph 4:32, and Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors, Matt 6:12, and But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses, Matt 6:15. You have also rightly remembered Stephen who prayed Lord, do not hold this sin against them, Acts 7:60, and Jesus Himself who said Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing, Luke 23:34. To forgive from the heart is obedience and it demonstrates that we have ourselves been forgiven, Col 3:13, Mark 11:26.

At the same time we must speak plainly about what you have forgiven. You describe covenantal unfaithfulness, adultery, and leading others astray. Scripture is clear that this is sin before God. Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit Gods Kingdom, 1 Cor 6:9-10. The deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, Gal 5:19. And again, Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord, Heb 12:14. Forgiveness does not make sin less serious and it does not give permission to remain in it. That is why Jesus, after showing mercy to the woman caught in adultery, said with authority, Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more, John 8:11, and to the man He had healed, Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you, John 5:14. True repentance is required, as it is written, that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, Luke 24:47, and Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord, Acts 3:19. We rebuke the deception of that sin and we pray she will not continue in it lest something worse befall her and lest she be excluded from the eternal kingdom, Rev 22:15.

We also affirm with you the sanctity of marriage. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, what therefore God has joined together, do not let man tear apart, Matt 19:6, and For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh, Eph 5:31. You are correct that Jesus taught that sexual immorality violates that covenant, Matt 5:32, Matt 19:9, and that desertion by an unbelieving spouse is also addressed, 1 Cor 7:15, and that any future marriage must be only in the Lord, 1 Cor 7:39, and not unequally yoked with unbelievers, 2 Cor 6:14. Yet we hear your heart not to use these provisions quickly but to ask for mercy, and that is Christlike. As Hosea was called to redeem his unfaithful wife, Hosea 3:1, so you are seeking to reflect Christ who loves the church and gave Himself for her to sanctify her, Eph 5:25-27. We strongly endorse your desire for reconciliation and for a marriage that honors God, rather than pursuing divorce, and we pray for restoration if she will truly repent and be born anew.

We agree with you that only God can change a heart. The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, 2 Cor 4:4, but God, who said Light will shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, 2 Cor 4:6. What is needed is not merely better behavior but a new heart and a new spirit, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh, Ezek 36:26, and I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it, Jer 31:33, and Jesus answered, Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see Gods Kingdom, John 3:3, and Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born anew, John 3:7. We pray that the kindness of God would lead her to repentance, Rom 2:4, for God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, 2 Cor 5:19, and He desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4, and is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9, and has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live, Ezek 33:11.

So we pray together in the name of Jesus, for there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Tim 2:5, and in no other name can we be saved, Acts 4:12.

Father, first and foremost we thank You that You were in Christ reconciling the world to Yourself, not counting our sins against us. We come in the name of Jesus and we lift this wife before Your throne of grace. We ask that You would open her eyes and turn her from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that she may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Jesus, Acts 26:18. Shine Your light into her heart, remove the veil, give her a new heart of flesh, cause her to be born anew by Your Spirit, and grant her godly sorrow that works repentance. Let her hear Your warning to go and sin no more, and let her truly repent and bring forth fruit worthy of repentance. Soften her heart, protect her from further temptation and from the evil one, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, sanctify her by Your truth, Your word is truth, John 17:17, and keep her from being deceived, Matt 24:4. We pray for the children and youth in this family, that they would not stumble, Matt 18:6, Mark 9:42, and that all of us would let Your word dwell richly and be doers of the word and not hearers only, James 1:22.

Father, we also lift this husband who has chosen to forgive. Grant him wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5, and let his love abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment, so that he may approve the things that are excellent, Phil 1:9. Teach him to fear You all day long, Prov 23:17, to add fasting and prayer with right motives, not for show but for Your glory, and to wait on You with the same surrender as Christ prayed, Not my will, but yours be done, Luke 22:42, Matt 26:39. Strengthen him to continue reaching out, to speak the truth in love, to be a living epistle known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2, and to portray Jesus Christ publicly before his family, Gal 3:1. Guard his own heart in holiness, and if reconciliation is Your will, make a remarkable testimony of saving grace, 1 Tim 1:15, that would display Christ and the church, Eph 5:32. If any wanders from the truth and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins, James 5:20. We ask this not demanding our way, but nevertheless, Your will be done. Keep us all from the path of the harlot of Babylon who will be destroyed, Rev 18:2, Rev 18:21, and make us part of the holy bride of Christ without spot, Rev 19:7, Eph 5:27, who will dwell with You forever, Rev 21:3. We were grateful to read your prayer. The pain of a broken vow is deep, and we hear how you are trying to keep a forgiving heart while also longing for your wife to find real change and new life. Wanting mercy for her and also wanting truth to prevail is not a contradiction, it is the tension many faithful spouses carry.

Choosing to forgive as you have is a real step. In our experience that decision often comes first, and the quieter work of the heart, the easing of anger and fear and sorrow, comes more slowly over time. It helps to remember forgiveness and rebuilding trust are not the same thing. One can be given freely before God, the other can only be rebuilt slowly if there is honest repentance and consistent change over time.

If it would help, consider staying anchored to one trusted pastor or counselor who knows your story well, rather than carrying this alone or reaching out widely. Meeting regularly with that one person can give you a steady place to sort wisdom for next steps, to keep healthy boundaries, and to care for your own strength and for the young people you mentioned. Continuing in prayer as you are, and attending to rest and daily responsibilities, matters too.

Father, we bring this brother before You and we bring his wife and family before You. Give him wisdom, steadiness and peace as he walks this road, guard him from discouragement, and draw each heart involved toward Your light and truth. The burden of your prayer is felt and it is right before the Lord that you have taken the way of forgiveness. You have done well to forgive as you have been forgiven, to say from the heart Father forgive them for they know not what they do, and to follow Stephen who prayed Lord lay not this sin to their charge. That forgiving spirit is of Christ, for God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. Yet mark this, the forgiveness you extend does not make sin to be a light thing, nor does it ask God to bless what He calls sin. True forgiveness desires true repentance, that the one forgiven may be washed and made whole.

You pray aright when you pray Go and sin no more, and sin no more lest a worse thing come unto thee. Our Lord Jesus preached repentance and remission of sins in His name among all nations, and these two are never to be put asunder. Where there is no repentance there can be no remission, but where there is true repentance there is full and free forgiveness through His blood. Do not be content to seek a mere word of pardon without the work of grace that follows it.

Take heed how you judge repentance, for there are many false kinds. There is a repentance that trembles and shows complacency toward the Word and yet is not repentance unto life. There is a carnal repentance that is of the flesh, produced by fear of judgment, and it repents not to give God glory. True repentance, that which is worked in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit, gives God glory. It yields works meet for repentance, it is practical repentance, and it lasts. It weeps and abhors past sin because of the love of Christ which has pardoned it, and it avoids present sin because of the love of God who died for us. It looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only. Remember also that repentance is the gift of God. We are to preach repentance in the name of Jesus, as that which He bestows, and we are to ask the Lord to grant it, for except the heart of stone be taken away and a heart of flesh be given, and except a man be born again, he cannot see nor enter the kingdom of God.

Therefore our prayer with you is not that sin should be continued in or excused, for the deeds of the flesh are evident and they that do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God, and God is not mocked. Without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Our prayer is that Light would shine in the darkness, that the god of this world who has blinded the mind should be cast out, that she may receive the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, that she may be turned from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that she may have a new heart and a new spirit within her according to the promise I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. This is the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, that being justified by faith we are made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

You have asked for wisdom and grace to add fasting, and you do well, for fasting and giving do lend wings to prayer when offered in faith. Continue to seek wisdom which God gives liberally, that love may abound in knowledge and discernment. Continue to walk in holiness and truth, using the Word which is able to make wise unto salvation, letting it correct and teach and sanctify, for sanctify them through Thy truth, Thy word is truth. Guard the little ones from stumbling and keep the testimony of a living epistle known and read of all men.

Concerning the covenant of marriage, you speak truly that it is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sex and living together belong within it alone. Though our Lord has spoken of the solemn exception in cases of unfaithfulness, and the apostle of desertion by an unbeliever, the will of Christ is not for the hasty sundering of what God has joined, but for mercy, reconciliation and purity. You have chosen the better part in asking not first for liberty to depart but for mercy that she may come to repentance, for the Lord is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance and He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. If the Lord grants repentance unto life, that turning would cover a multitude of sins and save a soul from death, and would set forth Christ and His Church as the great mystery of Ephesians five.

We join you then in praying, nevertheless not our will but Thine be done. May the Lord keep her from temptation and deliver her from evil, open her eyes, and grant her repentance that needs not to be repented of, a repentance that gives Him glory and is seen in a changed life. May He keep you faithful, forgiving as Christ has forgiven you, purged from dead works and filled with living works, looking only to Jesus who is able to save to the uttermost. May He who is greater at forgiving than we ever dreamed magnify His forgiving grace in you both, through faith in the one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who bore our sins in His own body that we might live unto righteousness.

We have heard your prayer and we join with you in thanking God who was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting our sins against us. Your desire to forgive your wife as you have been forgiven is right and Christlike. As you have said, we forgive as Christ forgave, as Stephen prayed for those who stoned him, Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing. This forgiveness you have spoken is obedient to the Lord who said if you forgive others their trespasses your heavenly Father will also forgive you, and it reflects the kindness of God that leads to repentance.

We also hear your grief over the breaking of the marriage covenant. Marriage is a bond ordained by God, and what breaks that bond brings severing and dissolution. The purpose and profit of marriage is to preserve the body in purity and honor, to keep holiness by forbidding defilement and union with another. Scripture says marriage is honorable and the marriage bed is pure, and it calls us to follow peace with all and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. That holiness in marriage means chaste and ordered living, each man with his own wife and each woman with her own husband, not committing fornication or adultery. Fornication and adultery come from lack of restraint and they corrupt the marriage which God has joined.

Therefore we do not and cannot ask God to bless or affirm continuing in sin. Instead we join you in praying as Jesus said to the woman, go and sin no more, and as He said to the man healed at the pool, sin no more lest something worse come upon you. Forgiveness is freely offered, but it calls for true repentance, a turning back to God for the remission of sins, that times of refreshing may come. We pray that your wife will hear that call and turn.

We pray with you that God who desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance, who takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but desires that the wicked turn from his way and live, would shine light into darkness. We ask that the god of this world would no longer blind her mind, but that the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ would shine in her heart. We ask that God would give her a new heart and put a new spirit within her, removing the heart of stone and giving a heart of flesh, that she would be born again, for unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. We pray that she would come to the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom, and to the knowledge of the Holy One.

We also pray for you, that you would be kept in peace and holiness, that you would continue in prayer and in fasting which lends wings to prayer, and that you would be given wisdom and revelation to know Him, and love that abounds in knowledge and discernment. You have rightly said nevertheless not my will but Yours be done, as Christ prayed in the garden. We affirm that posture. You are bound to a wife, and the apostle says art thou bound unto a wife, seek not to be loosed. While the Lord spoke of the seriousness of adultery, the first desire of love is for repentance, reconciliation and salvation, that the marriage might display Christ and the Church. We pray for that mercy.

We pray that God would protect you and the young ones from stumbling and from temptation, and keep you from evil, and sanctify you by His truth for His word is truth. We pray that you would continue to be a living letter, that the love of Christ would be clearly portrayed in your life, and that you would not be deceived but would walk in the truth of Scripture which teaches, corrects and trains in righteousness.

May the Lord grant her repentance that leads to life, renewal by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, justification by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and a life devoted to good works. May He soften her heart, open her eyes to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that she may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those sanctified by faith in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus, the one mediator between God and men, who alone saves.
