Of course we pray she does not continue in sin, that nothing worse may befall her, Jn 5:15, since sexual immorality and adultery are deceptive and exclude from the eternal kingdom, 1 Cor 6:9-10, Rev 22:15-16, and God cannot be mocked, Gal 6:7, since the deeds of the flesh are evident, Gal 5:19-21, but rather she'd REPENT, turn back to God so she can be saved, Luke 24:46-47, Experiences Refreshing, Acts 3:19, Renewal by Your washing of regeneration by Your mercy, since the kindness of God has appeared, so we might be justified by faith, in Jesus Christ, be made heirs with Him, share the hope of eternal life, and devote ourselves to good deeds, Tit 3:3-8. We ask for grace and discipline to add fasting, Mk 4:29, which the early church said, "fasting and giving lends wings to prayer," (Early Church Father, 155AD - 240AD). Help the one compassionate, honest and understanding family member learn to fear God all the day long, Prov 23:17, LET NO ONE DECEIVE HER, Matt 24:4, be saved by trusting Jesus work on the cross, 2 Cor 5:21, evidenced by repentance for remission of sins, Luke 24:46-47, and witness to truth, 1 Tim 4:16. I forgive this one who has broken covenantal faith and vows with no confession, remorse or repentance, for leading men into adultery and thus destruction, Prov 6:32, for neglecting pastoral counsel, texts and phone calls for months from any church with an accurate view of discipleship. I forgive her, she knows not what she does, Luke 23:34. If a king's heart is as channels of water in Your hand, Prov 21:1, how much more an individual that has chosen to feed on raisin cakes and needs repentance from serious sins, which Hosea's "deal with her" was based on repentance and faithfulness, see Hos 3:1-5. Jesus, after pronouncing that forgiving the sins of other has authority, John 8:10-11, John 20:23, said, "Go and sin no more," John 8:11.

I've reached out, am still reaching out, have prayed and fasted, am still praying and asking for wisdom and grace now discipline to fast -- let her not be to me as most of Jerusalem was unwilling to gather under the Shelter of Wings of God Almighty, Ps 17:8, Ps 57:1, 91:1, or come to Jesus, over which He publicly wept, they having stoned those sent to rescue them, Matt 23:37... Thankfully she is in a country that is impossible to get the "D" word. I know I have the adultery clause from Jesus which allows me to "D" and remarry, Matt 5:32, Matt 19:9, however only in The Lord, 1 Cor 7:39, see being equally yoked, 2 Cor 6:14-15, Old Testament precedent, Gen 24:3-4. And if she is unsaved, which everything indicates, there is the desertion by an unbelieving spouse clause, 1 Cor 7:15, where traditional, modern and ancient Jewish theology all allow for remarriage as if the unbelieving spouse (or adulteress) "were dead." However I am thinking and ASKING for mercy, kindness for repentance and salvation here, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Tim 2:1-7. Maybe she was saved but probably just a church goer, but, regardless, "If any of you wanders from the truth and someone turns her back it's considered turning a sinner from the errors of their ways, and counted as a soul saved from death, and covers a multitude of sins, James 5:19-20? I ask for that THAT -- may THAT yield a remarkable testimony of God's saving grace, 1 Tim 1:15-16, and exemplify Christ and The Church, Eph 5:32-33. So I again ask for wisdom, Prov 2:1-5, Col 1:9-10, James 1:5, and for love to abound in knowledge and discernment to choose the highest, Phil 1:9-11, yet asking for it loosely as CHRIST in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matt 26:39, Mk 14:36 -- NEVERTHELESS, let YOUR WILL BE DONE, not mine, Luke 22:42, Heb 5:7.

Soften her heart and protect her (also the youth, and all of us that actually ask God to save her so the little ones do not stumble, Mt 18:16, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2), keep her from temptation and evil, Matt 6:13. Let LIGHT SHINE that penetrates darkness, Jn 1:5, 1 Jn 1:5, 2 Cor 4:4, 2 Cor 4:6, to open their eyes, turning this one from the power of darkness to light, and power of satan to God, that they may partake of the inheritance along with all who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 26:18, 1 Cor 1:30. Help her, them (and all of us) use our "Bible Apps" and understand what it says enough to let the Words You have caused to live inside become flesh in real life, Jn 1:12, James 1:22-23. Let "Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed," Gal 3:1, and model it to each and every family member, those most near and dear and beyond and blinded -- let us be living epistles known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2. All Scripture is inspired by God Almighty and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right," 2 Tim 3:15-16. "Do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one," John 17:15. We join with you in this deep and painful journey and we thank you for sharing your heart with such honesty and with such a desire to honor the Lord. We see your pain over your wife's unfaithfulness and your broken covenant vows, and we also see the grace God has given you to forgive her as Christ has forgiven us. That forgiveness you have pronounced is beautiful and biblical and it reflects the heart of our Savior.

We affirm with you that forgiveness does not mean that sin is excused or that repentance is unnecessary. You are right to hold both truths together. We are commanded to forgive even as God in Christ forgave us, Eph 4:32, and to forgive others so that we also may walk in the forgiveness we have received, Matt 6:14-15, Col 3:13. Yet forgiveness must be followed by the call to go and sin no more, John 8:11, and to sin no more lest something worse befall you, John 5:14. The kindness of God is meant to lead to repentance, Rom 2:4, but that repentance must actually come, Luke 24:47, Acts 3:19.

We grieve with you that your wife has walked into adultery and sexual immorality. Scripture is very clear that this is not a small matter. The deeds of the flesh are evident, Gal 5:19-21, and we are warned that those who practice sexual immorality and adultery will not inherit the kingdom of God, 1 Cor 6:9-10, Rev 22:15. God cannot be mocked, whatever a man sows that he will also reap, Gal 6:7. To break the marriage covenant is to do violence against the very picture of Christ and His church, Eph 5:31-32, for marriage is ordained by God as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, Matt 19:6, Mark 10:9. It is meant to be honored and kept pure, Heb 13:4. We also hear your concern for others she may be leading into adultery, and the warning is solemn that whoever commits adultery lacks understanding and destroys his own soul, Prov 6:32.

We also affirm your understanding of what God requires for salvation and restoration. Each person must be born again, John 3:3, John 3:7, and receive a new heart and a new spirit, Ezek 36:26, with His law written on the heart, Jer 31:33. Without holiness no one will see the Lord, Heb 12:14. The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, 2 Cor 4:4, and only God can command light to shine in the darkness to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, 2 Cor 4:6. That is the miracle you are asking for and it is right to ask.

We agree with you that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting our trespasses against us, 2 Cor 5:19, and that He desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4, and takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but desires that the wicked turn from his way and live, Ezek 33:11, and is patient not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9. We also rejoice that you are not seeking revenge or a quick divorce, though the Lord Jesus did speak of permission for divorce in the case of sexual immorality, Matt 5:32, Matt 19:9, and Paul speaks of the case where an unbelieving spouse deserts, 1 Cor 7:15. You are rightly seeking mercy first, as Hosea sought his unfaithful wife in love, Hos 3:1-5, and as we are to seek to turn a sinner from the error of his way to save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins, James 5:19-20. That heart reflects Christ.

We encourage you to continue in what you are doing, to add fasting as you feel led, to seek wisdom liberally, James 1:5, Prov 2:1-5, Col 1:9, and to let love abound in knowledge and discernment, Phil 1:9-11. Continue to reach out through godly pastoral counsel and the church, Matt 18:15-17, and to guard your own heart from bitterness while maintaining clear boundaries. Forgiveness is immediate, but trust and restoration of the marriage require true confession, godly sorrow, and fruit worthy of repentance. We also lift up the youth and family members you mentioned, that the little ones would not stumble, Matt 18:6, Mark 9:42, Luke 17:2, and that no one would be deceived, Matt 24:4. We pray you would fear the Lord all day long, Prov 23:17, and that the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom, Prov 9:10, would take root.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our one Mediator between God and men, 1 Tim 2:5, we come before Your throne of grace. We thank You that while we were still sinners Christ died for us, 2 Cor 5:21, and that You have not counted our sins against us. We thank You for the new heart You promise and the new birth we must have to see Your kingdom. We lift up this dear brother who has chosen to forgive his wife even as Stephen prayed, Lord do not hold this sin against them, Acts 7:60, and as Jesus prayed Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing, Luke 23:34. Strengthen him, Lord, keep him from the evil one, John 17:15, sanctify him by Your truth for Your word is truth, John 17:17, and let him be a living letter known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2.

And Father we lift up his wife to You. Soften her heart of stone and give her a heart of flesh, open her eyes and turn her from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that she may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Jesus, Acts 26:18. Let Your light shine in her heart, let her see her sin as You see it, grant her godly sorrow that leads to repentance without regret, and grant her to go and sin no more. Protect her from further temptation and evil, Matt 6:13, let no one deceive her, and bring her to true repentance for the remission of sins, Luke 24:47, that she may be washed, regenerated and renewed by Your mercy, Titus 3:5. We ask that You would give her wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, Eph 1:17, and draw her under the shelter of Your wings, Ps 17:8, Ps 57:1, Ps 91:1. We ask that You would guard the children and family from stumbling and let Your Word dwell richly in all of them, that they would not merely hear the Word but do it, James 1:22.

We ask for grace and discipline for this brother to continue in prayer and fasting and to walk in love with discernment to choose what is best. We ask all of this not as demanding our will but as Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, nevertheless not our will but Yours be done, Matt 26:39, Mark 14:36, Luke 22:42, Heb 5:7. Let Your perfect will be accomplished in this marriage, whether through miraculous repentance and restoration that would be a testimony of Your saving grace, 1 Tim 1:15-16, or through Your sustaining grace in whatever You allow. Keep this brother in Your peace and let Your Word correct, teach and train him in righteousness, 2 Tim 3:16. We trust You who makes the heart like channels of water in Your hand, Prov 21:1, and we ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We have read your prayer closely and we hear the weight you are carrying. Your heart to forgive your wife fully, to want her to know Jesus and walk in freedom rather than holding onto bitterness, is a costly choice and we thank God for the grace you are showing even while you are hurting.

What you describe is familiar to many who have chosen forgiveness. There is the clear decision to release the debt and not seek revenge, and then there is the slower work of the heart where resentment, fear and grief still surface. It is normal for those painful feelings to rise again even after you have truly decided to forgive. That does not mean your forgiveness was not real, it often means healing is still unfolding and needs time, prayer, and community around you.

You mentioned fasting and continuing to reach out. We encourage you to keep walking with one or two trusted, mature pastors or counselors who know you both, so you are not carrying the prayer burden and the practical decisions alone. They can help you pace fasting wisely, care for your own heart and wisdom, and think through next steps with clarity.

Father, we lift this brother to You and we lift his wife and family to You. Soften hearts, bring light where there is darkness, and guard each one from harm. Give him wisdom, steady strength, and peace as he waits on Your will, and draw his wife to Yourself in repentance and new life. Keep them both under Your care and guide them in Your truth. The prayer you have poured out before the Lord has been heard with deep sympathy and solemn joy, for it breathes the very spirit of Christ who prayed, Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

You have done well to forgive, even as you have been forgiven. That is the mark of grace received. When you have been offended you are not pining to forgive as the world forgives after persuasion and apology, but God is pining to forgive, and He has taught you to forgive much. Yet remember that your forgiveness of her, though it be sincere and Christlike as Stephen's when he cried Lord lay not this sin to their charge, is not the forgiveness which puts away sin before God. That belongs to Christ alone, who was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. Your forgiveness can release your own heart from bitterness and can, by the kindness of God, lead toward repentance, but her soul must yet hear the voice of the Son of God Himself saying, Go and sin no more, and must receive that repentance which is unto life.

Take heed how you weigh repentance, for there is a repentance that is of the flesh and after the manner of sinful nature, a carnal repentance wrought by judgment and fear, which repents not to give Him glory. True repentance, that which is worked in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit, always gives God glory. It makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His finished work, and it sets the sinner ever afterwards craving after holiness, for the burnt child dreads the fire. Do not be content to pray for a mere sorrow or a turning for a season. Pray for that godly repentance which needs not to be repented of, which is the gift of God and the germ which contains all the essentials of salvation. We are to preach repentance in the name of Jesus Christ, not as Moses preached it, nor as John the Baptist preached it as a preparation, but as a free gift of His grace. No man can see the kingdom of God except he be born again, and that new birth is not of the will of man but of God who promises, A new heart will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you, I will take away the stony heart and give you a heart of flesh.

You have asked rightly that light might shine in darkness according to that word, that God who commanded light to shine out of darkness hath shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. The god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, and only that same Almighty word which said Let there be light can open eyes and turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God. For this we must pray, that she may receive a new heart and that the law of God may be written there, not merely heard with the ear or scrolled upon an app, but become flesh in a life made obedient to the truth. Except there be this inward renewal, all outward reformation will be as the people who sacrificed still upon high places though only to Jehovah, while their hearts still went after idols.

Concerning the holy estate of marriage, you have judged rightly. The love of Christ to His spouse is the model of the husband's love to his wife. It is a love special and particular, lavishing itself upon one alone, and it puts the two upon a level of complacent delight. In old time a man might give his wife a bill of divorcement and put her away, but God says He hates putting away and He will never divorce those who are joined to Him. So ought a man to love his wife and to seek her restoration. Sexual immorality and adultery are not light faults to be excused, for the deeds of the flesh are evident and they that do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God, and God is not mocked. Yet after being offended seven times we are to forgive seventy times seven, and how much more does our Lord forgive year after year provocation which would weary any man. You stand in a place of great trial, having the word of Christ concerning adultery and concerning desertion by an unbeliever, and you do well not to hasten toward that door but to ask for mercy, that she might yet be saved and that your house might yet exemplify Christ and the Church. This is Christlike intercession, to will as God wills who would have all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth and who takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that he turn from his way and live.

Therefore continue as you have begun, with fasting and prayer, for fasting lends wings to prayer, and with the fear of God all the day long. Let no one deceive her, and let no one deceive you. Seek wisdom as for hid treasure, for if any lack wisdom let him ask of God who giveth liberally. Ask that love may abound in knowledge and discernment to choose the highest, yet ever saying as your Master in Gethsemane, Nevertheless not my will but Thine be done. The eyes of mercy are quicker than the eyes of repentance. While the prodigal was yet a great way off his father saw him and ran and fell upon his neck and kissed him much, with kisses of forgiveness and full restoration. So the Lord sees the wanderer long before the wanderer sees Him, and if almighty love has drawn you back after sad wanderings, lay yourself out to do good to those harmed by sin, and to seek the wandering one that she may be turned from the error of her way and a soul saved from death.

We will pray with you that the Lord will soften her heart and keep her from temptation and from the evil one, that He will sanctify by His truth for His word is truth, that He will grant her repentance unto life and that refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. May He restore unto you the joy of His salvation and keep you craving after holiness without which no man shall see the Lord, and may your life be a living epistle known and read of all, that Jesus Christ's love may be publicly portrayed in you. May the Lord guard you from false repentances and give that true repentance which glorifies Him, and may He who hates putting away be pleased to heal this breach for His own name's sake.
