We lift up your son before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the deep concern and love you have for his soul. The Bible warns us clearly about the dangers of astrology and divination, for these practices open doors to deception and lead away from the truth of God. In Deuteronomy 18:10-12, the Lord says, "There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh." Astrology is not harmless curiosity—it is a snare that entangles the heart and mind, pulling one away from the living God who alone holds the future in His hands.
We must also address the urgency of salvation. Your son’s return to the Lord is not merely about changing his beliefs or habits; it is about being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If your son does not know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, he remains lost, no matter how "spiritual" he may consider himself to be. We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his need for Christ, break the chains of deception, and draw him into a saving relationship with the Father.
We rebuke the spirit of deception that has taken hold of your son’s heart in the name of Jesus. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that your son is not beyond the reach of God’s grace. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is able to break every stronghold and set the captives free (Ephesians 1:19-20). We stand in the gap for him, praying that the eyes of his heart would be enlightened to see the hope of his calling in Christ (Ephesians 1:18).
Father God, we come before You with hearts burdened for this young man. We ask that You would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at Your presence (Isaiah 64:1). Lord, we pray that You would shatter the lies of astrology and divination in his life. Let him see the emptiness of these practices and the fullness of life that is found only in You. We ask that You would surround him with believers who will speak truth into his life and model the love of Christ. Soften his heart, Lord, and let him hear Your voice calling him home.
We pray for his salvation, Father. If he has never surrendered his life to Jesus, we ask that You would convict him of his sin and draw him to the cross. Let him understand that he is a sinner in need of a Savior, and that Jesus is the only way to forgiveness and eternal life. If he once knew You but has wandered away, we ask that You would restore the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25) and renew his love for You. Let him remember the joy of his salvation and the peace that comes from walking in Your will.
We also pray for wisdom and boldness for his family. Give them the words to speak and the love to demonstrate the truth of the Gospel. Let their lives be a testimony to the transforming power of Christ, so that he may see the difference between the darkness he has been walking in and the light of Your love.
Lord, we trust in Your promise that if we seek You with all our hearts, we will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). We believe that You are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name that is above every name, the name by which every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:9-11). Amen.
