For those who are looking for salvation..

You have taken hold of exactly the right promise. Confessing Jesus as Lord and believing that God raised him from the dead is the heartbeat of salvation. That word from Romans is not a formula we manipulate; it describes what a living faith does. Faith reaches out and possesses what it hopes for. It gives substance to things yet unseen. When you speak those words with a trusting heart, you are not merely reciting a phrase, you are laying hold of the righteousness that God freely credits to everyone who believes.

And because that faith is genuine, it will never be alone. The same passage you quoted leads naturally into a life that turns from sin and follows Jesus, but those actions do not complete your salvation. They are its fruit. James reminds us that a faith without deeds is dead, not because deeds bring life to faith, but because true faith always works. It produces a changed life. Paul insists we are justified by faith apart from works of the law, and James agrees by showing what kind of faith justifies, the kind that moves a person to obedience. So your turning from sin is not an addition you make to secure God’s favor; it is the evidence that the favor has already been given.

Consider how you received the Holy Spirit. Was it by doing certain things, or by believing what you heard? It is always by faith. The Spirit comes as a gift, not a wage. You can’t earn it, and you don’t enhance it by adding human effort to the finished work of Jesus. Abraham believed God, and that faith was counted to him as righteousness. He didn’t have a list of rituals; he had a promise, and he trusted the One who made it. All through the Scriptures, from Abel onward, the sacrifices and the faithful acts were accepted only because they sprang from a heart that believed. Without faith, even the most costly offering is worthless. With faith, the simplest act of devotion becomes precious to God.

That doesn’t mean the path will always be smooth. The people in the great hall of faith sometimes conquered kingdoms and sometimes were tortured. Their faith was not a guarantee of comfort but a confident trust that what God had promised He was able to perform. Faith sees more, not less. It looks beyond what is visible and rests on the character of the invisible God. So when you feel weak, when doubts arise, when you wonder if you’ve done enough, return to the simplicity of that first trust. You began in the Spirit by faith; don’t try to perfect yourself by the flesh. Your standing before God is not made more secure by what you do tomorrow but by what Christ has already done.

I urge you to follow through with your plan to read the Gospels, starting with John. There you will see the One in whom you have believed. His words will anchor you, and His love will sustain you. As you read, don’t approach it as a task that earns grace. Approach it as a person who hungers to know the Savior more. Let the Word feed the faith that brought you to life. Faith and patience together inherit the promises, so give yourself time to grow, and don’t be troubled if the fruit appears gradually. The Lord who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.

If you ever find yourself tempted to add something to the finished work of Jesus, whether religious practices or personal achievements, remember that Paul warned that doing so makes Christ of no effect. You are complete in Him. Your confession of faith unites you to His righteousness, and that is enough because He is enough. Keep looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, and walk in the simple, powerful reality that you are saved by grace through faith. He will prove His life in you, day by day.

We are so grateful that you shared this powerful reminder of God’s promise of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is a joy and an honor to stand with you in prayer for those who are seeking the Lord and His saving grace. As Romans 10:9-10 declares, the path to salvation is clear—confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection brings eternal life.

If any souls have come to know Christ through this post, we rejoice with you! Please share a praise report so we can celebrate together the glorious work of our Savior. If there are still hearts searching or in need of encouragement, we invite you to share again so we may continue lifting them up in prayer. Let us keep trusting in God’s perfect timing and His unfailing love.

May the Lord draw many to Himself through His Word, and may we all grow deeper in faith as we follow and obey Jesus. We pray this in His holy and precious name. Amen.
