We rejoice with you in the truth of Romans 10:9-10, which declares, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." This is the foundation of our faith, the confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the belief in His resurrection, and the turning away from sin to follow Him wholeheartedly.

To those seeking salvation, we affirm that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, repent, and invite Jesus to be the Lord of your life. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

We encourage you to begin your journey by reading the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, as you mentioned. The book of John is a wonderful starting point, as it beautifully reveals the divinity of Christ and His love for humanity. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the gift of salvation, which is available to all who believe. For those who are seeking You today, we ask that You draw them close to Your heart. Open their eyes to see the truth of Your Word and the reality of their need for a Savior. Lord, we pray that they would confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead. May they turn away from sin and follow You with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Father, we ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who will guide them into all truth and empower them to live a life that honors You. Surround them with godly believers who will encourage and disciple them in their walk with You. Help them to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, and may their lives be a testament to Your transforming power.

We rebuke any lies of the enemy that would seek to keep them bound in sin or doubt. We declare that they are forgiven, redeemed, and set free by the blood of Jesus Christ. May they walk in the fullness of Your love and purpose for their lives.

Your suggestion to start in the book of John is a wise one. We have seen so many people find their footing there. John writes with such clear purpose, "that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31). When someone is peering over the edge, wondering what it means to truly trust Christ, John answers with encounter after encounter. The woman at the well, the man born blind, the grieving sisters, each one discovers something different about who Jesus is.

So if you are walking alongside someone searching, one simple, concrete thing can help: invite them to read just one chapter of John a day with you, or on their own, and to sit with a single question afterward: What does this show me about Jesus? That slow, honest engagement often does what no argument can. It lets the person meet Christ directly in the text.

We also appreciate that you linked salvation to turning from sin and following Jesus in obedience. That is not about earning anything, Christ's work is complete. It is about a life reoriented around a new center. And that reorientation can be disorienting at first. New believers often wonder if their faith is "working" because they still feel the tug of old patterns. The way of salvation is set before you in the Scriptures with a beautiful simplicity. Trust Jesus Christ, that is believing with the heart. Without this, all confession with the mouth is but empty noise. The heart must first lay hold upon Him who was delivered for our offenses and raised again for our justification. True faith is the hand that receives the gift of God, and it is this faith, this reliance upon Christ alone, that brings righteousness to the soul. Do not imagine that mere words can save, for with the heart man believes unto righteousness; the root must be within before the fruit appears upon the lips.

And what is this faith but a turning from sin? You cannot be clinging to Christ while clasping your iniquities. The repentance that saves is no mere fright at punishment, but a loathing of the sin itself because it nailed the Lord of glory to the tree. Weigh your repentance in the balances of the sanctuary, does it give God glory? True repentance weeps tears of grief, yet through those tears there gleams a hope at the cross where sin is forgiven. The two, faith and repentance, are knit together as with an inseparable bond. Where Christ enters the heart as Savior, sin is cast out as an evil tenant. The love of sin cannot dwell with the love of the Redeemer.

Let none of you make a confession while your heart has never believed. That were to build upon the sand. Yet for you who have believed, the open acknowledgment of Christ is both a duty and a delight. With the mouth confession is made unto salvation, not as the ground of it, but as the evidence and seal of it. You must stand forth and own your Master, not in word only, but by a life that separates from the world and follows hard after Him. This confession embraces all His words, not merely those which please the natural mind. Take care that you confess Christ in the activities of daily life, in the home, in the marketplace, there must be a thorough going forth from the camp bearing His reproach.

Do not tarry. Procrastination is the rust which eats away the sharpness of conviction. How many are now in perdition who meant to repent tomorrow! Fly to Christ even now while the Spirit draws you. Let your first step be to follow Christ for life, for salvation, looking to Him in obedience to the command, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved." If you seek Him, know this for your comfort, He has first sought you. You could never find the Shepherd if the Shepherd had not found you. From the days of eternity, His thoughts were towards His people with deliberation and love. Cast yourself upon Him, and follow Him with constancy come what may. Study His Word, dwell much in John's Gospel where His glory shines, and seek to be near your Master all your days. The soul that leans wholly on Jesus shall never be confounded.

You have spoken rightly in setting forth the path of salvation from the Apostle, that we must confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead. Yet see that this confession is not a mere word, for the tongue can utter what the heart has never embraced. The Lord looks for the sacrifice of a broken spirit. Declare first your transgressions that you may be justified. Groan bitterly over your sins; let the confession be accompanied by deep contrition and a turning away from every evil. For what profit is it to call Him Lord if you do not the things He commands? He Himself has shown the way, learning obedience through what He suffered, and in being made perfect He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. So if Christ, the Son, gained obedience through sufferings, how much more must we be bound to it?

The Gospel you bid them read is indeed a sweet savour, but know this: to those who are being saved it is the fragrance of life, yet to those who perish it carries the odour of death. It is not enough to take up the book; you must let the Word penetrate your heart, showing you your sin and driving you to seek the Redeemer. This is why John the Baptist came crying that men should bring forth fruits worthy of repentance, not that they might be punished, but that by condemning themselves they might hasten to receive mercy. So too the Lord’s own good confession before Pilate and before the high priest was no idle declaration: He testified to the truth, and that truth must be held fast in faith and in life.

Therefore, study the Holy Scriptures, as you have said, and begin in the Gospel of John, for there you behold the eternal Word, true God of true God, who took flesh for our salvation. But let the reading be joined to obedience. I have warned and will not cease to warn: the disobedient I will exclude from the gathering of the faithful, as long as God permits me to stand in this place, not out of harshness but for the saving of your souls. I long for your salvation, and for it I endure pain. Yield your obedience, then, so that both here and in the age to come you may receive a full reward, and together we may enjoy eternal blessings through the grace of the only-begotten Son of God, to whom be glory with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, world without end.
