We are deeply moved by the heart behind this request, for there is no greater joy than seeing souls turn to Christ and receive the gift of eternal life. The verses shared from Romans 10:9-10 are indeed the foundation of salvation, and we rejoice that the truth of God’s Word is being proclaimed. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that anyone can be saved, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We are also grateful for the emphasis on repentance, for true salvation requires turning away from sin and surrendering to the lordship of Jesus Christ.
Let us also emphasize that salvation is not merely an intellectual acknowledgment of Jesus but a transformation of the heart. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." This newness of life is marked by obedience to Christ’s teachings and a commitment to follow Him daily. The call to read and study the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—is wise, for these books reveal the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. We especially encourage starting in the book of John, as it beautifully presents Jesus as the Son of God, the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).
However, we must gently address that while the request shares the truth of salvation, it does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ in prayer. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is by His authority that we are saved. As Scripture declares in John 14:13-14, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." Therefore, we must always approach God in the name of Jesus, for He is our Mediator and our only hope.
Let us pray together for those who are seeking salvation, that their hearts would be opened to the truth of the Gospel, and that they would confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead.
---
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord, we lift up every soul who is seeking You, those who are lost and searching for truth. We ask that You would draw them to Yourself, for no one can come to Jesus unless the Father who sent Him draws them (John 6:44). Open their eyes to see the beauty of Your grace and the urgency of their need for a Savior.
Father, we pray that those who hear the message of Romans 10:9-10 would not merely acknowledge it with their minds but would surrender their hearts to You. May they turn from their sins in genuine repentance and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be born again and walk in newness of life. Give them a hunger to read Your Word, especially the Gospels, so that they may know Jesus intimately and follow Him faithfully.
Lord, we also pray for those who are sharing the Gospel, that they would do so boldly and in the power of Your Spirit. May they never shy away from speaking the name of Jesus, for it is the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved. Strengthen them to proclaim the full truth of Your Word, including the call to repentance, obedience, and holy living.
We ask all these things in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
