Disciple of Prayer
My dad recently got diagnosed with a brain tumor. I could use all the prayer. He's ### and lives in ###. He's the type of guy who doesn't want to tell anyone what is going on. To that point, when I was ### I found out he had already had and beaten a version of leukemia without letting anyone in our family know, because he didn't want to upset anyone or be treated differently. Since that time, he has had to take testosterone shots since his body no longer produces any. It seems that this have have led to a growth next to his pituitary gland. It's the first time he's ever let me know about his health and how bad it could possibly be. I called my step mom to ask her how bad is it and she was quivering on the phone. Supposedly, he has already given the authority to pull the plug to my godfather in case something happens. It's the first time I've called him and I could hear without him saying that he was scared. Even at ### my dad is my hero still. I'll talk to him 2-3 times a day couple days each week. I even went back to law school because I wanted to give him the gift of knowing that I could do it. Now it feels like everything is just swirling around me...my marriage, my financial situation, now my dad...it's just really tough sometimes Lord. I know that you're not here to hurt us and everything is in your hands. But I really hurt, and I call upon all of your majesty and wisdom to alleviate us from the stress, and to know that none of this life is permanent. Help us to shelter in you so these pains may not feel so bad. Lord I pray for those who are going through similar things in this world, please warm their hearts. To those who read this and respond to so many others praying for your intercession, please bless them, call them, and give them the confidence you Lord. I pray in Jesus name, amen.

We hear the deep pain and fear in your heart as you face this trial with your father, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting him and your entire family before the throne of grace. The weight of this moment is heavy, and it is clear how much your father means to you, how his strength and quiet resilience have shaped your life. We are so grateful that he has finally allowed you into this struggle, even if the news is hard to bear. The fear in his voice, the trembling in your stepmother’s words, these are signs of a battle that is not just physical but spiritual, and we take up the sword of the Spirit on his behalf.

First, we rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to grip your father’s heart and your own. The Word declares, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). Fear does not come from the Lord, and we command it to flee in the name of Jesus. We also rebuke the enemy’s lies that this diagnosis is the end of the story. Our God is the God who heals, who raises the dead, and who holds every cell in your father’s body in His hands. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we speak life over his mind, body, and spirit.

We pray for your father’s healing, both physically and emotionally. Lord, You see the tumor pressing against his pituitary gland, and You know the path to his restoration. We ask for wisdom for his doctors, clarity in their decisions, and supernatural intervention in his treatment. If it is Your will, we pray for a miraculous shrinking or complete removal of this growth. But even if the road ahead is difficult, we ask that You walk with him in every step, that he would feel Your presence like never before. Give him peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let him rest in the knowledge that You are his healer and his hope.

We also lift up your family during this time. It is clear that your father has carried burdens alone for too long, and now the weight of this diagnosis is pressing on all of you. We pray for unity, for open hearts, and for the strength to support one another. Help your stepmother to find comfort in You, and give her the words to speak life and hope into your father’s heart. Lord, we ask that You would soften your father’s heart to receive the love and care of those around him. He has been a hero to so many, but now it is his turn to be held.

We cannot ignore the other struggles weighing on your heart, your marriage, your finances, the pressures of law school. These are not small things, and we bring them before the Lord as well. We pray for provision in every area, that You would open doors no man can shut and provide for your needs in ways that only You can. For your marriage, we ask that You would strengthen the bond between you and your spouse, that you would fight for one another and lean on each other in this season. Remember, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Do not carry these burdens alone.

And to you, dear one, we speak this truth: You are not alone. The God who parted the Red Sea, who raised Lazarus from the dead, and who conquered the grave is the same God who holds you now. He sees your tears, He hears your cries, and He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). You have honored your father by pursuing your calling, and now it is time to let the Lord honor you. Cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Let Him be your shelter, your strength, and your song in this storm.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name that heals, delivers, and saves. Lord, we ask that You would move in power in this situation. Let Your glory be revealed in your father’s life, and let Your peace reign in your family’s hearts. We declare that this is not the end of your father’s story, it is a chapter where Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). We trust You, Lord, and we thank You for the victory that is already ours in Christ.

Finally, we pray for all those reading this who are facing their own battles. Lord, warm their hearts with Your love, remind them of Your faithfulness, and give them the courage to trust You even when the path is dark. Bless those who intercede for others, who stand in the gap in prayer. Strengthen them, encourage them, and let them see the fruit of their labor. May Your name be glorified in every situation, and may Your kingdom come in power. In Jesus’ name, amen.

We hear the weight of your heart as you carry this burden for your dad. It's clear how much he means to you, his quiet strength, the way he's always been your hero, even when he didn't want to let anyone see his struggles. We're holding space for the fear and uncertainty you must be feeling, but we want you to know that you're not alone in this. God sees the way your stepmom trembled when she shared the news, and He hears the unspoken fear in your dad's voice. We're praying that your family would be wrapped in His peace, even in the middle of this storm.

Lord, we ask for Your healing touch over your father’s life right now. We know You hold every cell in his body, and we pray for wisdom for his doctors and supernatural breakthrough in his treatment. If it's Your will, we declare healing over that tumor, but more than that, we ask for Your presence to surround him, comfort that goes beyond what we can understand. Give him rest in You, even if the days ahead feel heavy.

And for you, dear one, we see the way you've been pouring yourself out for others, from stepping into law school to supporting your dad. It's okay to feel overwhelmed. The enemy would love to whisper lies that you're carrying too much, but we declare that God is your refuge. He will not leave you to face this alone. We pray for your marriage, for provision, for every pressing need, Lord, meet them all with Your abundance.

Father, we ask that You would guard your dad’s heart from fear and fill him with faith instead. Let him feel the love of his family around him, even in this hard season. And for you, give strength and courage to keep trusting, even when the road feels dark. We pray all of this in Jesus’ name.
