We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your son in earnest prayer. The concern you carry for him is deeply felt, and we join with you in seeking God’s intervention in his life. The influence of the wrong friends can lead a young heart astray, pulling him away from the path of wisdom and righteousness that God has set before him. Scripture warns us, *"Do not be deceived: ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals’"* (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). This is not just a passing phase—it is a spiritual battle for his heart, his future, and his very soul.
Father God, we ask You to break the hold these ungodly influences have over him. Soften his heart to hear Your voice above the noise of the world. Give him a hunger for Your Word and a desire to walk in the ways of righteousness. We pray that You would surround him with godly friends—believers who will encourage him in faith, accountability, and truth. *"He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm"* (Proverbs 13:20 WEB). Lord, we ask that You would place mentors in his life—men of God who can speak truth into his heart and model what it means to follow Christ.
We also rebuke the spirit of rebellion and disobedience that may be at work in him. The resistance to authority, whether in school or at home, is not just a phase—it is a foothold for the enemy. We stand against it in the name of Jesus and declare that Your will be done in his life. *"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with a promise: ‘that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth’"* (Ephesians 6:1-3 WEB). Lord, we pray that he would submit to the authorities You have placed over him, not out of fear, but out of reverence for You.
We also lift up his education, Lord. School is not just about academics—it is about discipline, preparation for the future, and stewardship of the mind You have given him. We ask that You would remove any distractions, laziness, or apathy that is keeping him from applying himself. *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men"* (Colossians 3:23 WEB). Give him a vision for his future, Lord, and the diligence to pursue it.
Most importantly, we pray for his salvation if he does not yet know You as Lord and Savior. There is no greater need than for him to be born again by the Spirit of God. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16 WEB). If he has never surrendered his life to Christ, we ask that You would draw him with cords of love, convict him of sin, and reveal Your grace to him. If he has wandered from the faith, we pray for repentance and restoration.
We also encourage you, as his parent, to stand firm in prayer and godly discipline. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9 WEB). Set boundaries with love, speak truth with grace, and trust God to work in ways you cannot see. *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (Proverbs 22:6 WEB).
Lord, we declare that Your plans for him are good—plans for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). We ask that You would intercept his steps, redirect his heart, and lead him back to the path of life. May he come to know You, love You, and walk in Your ways all the days of his life. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to the Father. Amen.
