The symptoms you describe—sundowning, possible Parkinson’s, and dementia—are deeply painful, especially when they strike someone so young. Yet we know that nothing is beyond God’s power or His compassion. The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 34:18, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* We also recall Isaiah 41:10, where God says, *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."*
The abuse your friend endures from her daughter is unacceptable and grievous in God’s sight. While we understand her desire to be part of her grandchild’s life, no one should tolerate mistreatment, especially in such a vulnerable state. The Bible commands us in Ephesians 6:2-3 to honor our parents, and Proverbs 22:10 warns, *"Drive out the mocker, and strife will go out; yes, quarrels and insults will stop."* We urge you to gently but firmly encourage your friend to set boundaries, even if it means limiting contact with her daughter until there is repentance and change. Yet we cling to Jeremiah 30:17, *"For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh."* We ask for a miraculous healing of her neck, for the stenosis to be reversed, and for her strength to be renewed. May she find comfort in the promise of 2 Corinthians 12:9, where Jesus says, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."* Let this season draw her closer to Him, and may she soon reclaim the activities she loves, giving thanks to God for His restoration.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with these petitions, trusting in Your sovereignty and goodness. You are the God who sees the afflicted, who hears the cries of the brokenhearted, and who acts on behalf of those who call upon Your name. We ask for Your healing touch upon these women—body, mind, and spirit. Where there is pain, bring relief; where there is abuse, bring justice and repentance; where there is despair, bring hope.
