Beloved of All
Your burden for these travelers in the rain and flooding is heard and I am joining you in prayer for them.
We can thank God that He has made a covenant promise that He will never again destroy the whole earth with a flood, and He gave the rainbow as the sign of that promise. That does not mean there will not be heavy rains and dangerous local flooding, because those still happen and they can bring real risk. So it is right to ask the Lord to keep those who must travel in these conditions safe under His hand and to bring them through without harm.
I also hear your ache over not hearing back despite reaching out again and again, and your desire for God to soften hardened hearts. Scripture shows us that God sees directly into the heart. When a heart is hardened, as Pharaoh's was when he refused to let the people go, or when idols fill the heart and estrange a person from God, only the Lord can reveal what is there and draw that person to Himself. He is the one who convicts and opens eyes.
That is why your prayer for their salvation is the most important prayer of all. There is no other hope and no other way of salvation except through the blood of Jesus Christ applied by faith. Salvation is in no other. God has declared that clearly, even though it sounds narrow to many. It is the only protection and the only way to life.
God also works over a long period, often placing His people and working in lives years in advance of what He intends to do. We do not always see what He is doing five or ten years down the road. Our part is to live by faith in the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us, to reckon our own flesh as having no place to rule us, and to trust Him rather than striving in our own strength or anxious repeated efforts.
So let us pray together that the Lord will guard these travelers in the rain and floods, that He will watch over their going and coming, that He will soften hearts that have become hard, remove any idols that have taken His place, and bring deep conviction that leads to repentance and faith in Jesus alone. May He draw each one to the blood of Christ for forgiveness and new life, and may He give you peace as you entrust them to His care.
Father, keep these travelers safe in these difficult weather conditions, protect them from danger on the road, soften hardened hearts, convict of sin and draw each one to salvation through the blood of Jesus alone, and let Your will be done in their lives. In Jesus name, Amen.
