We join together in lifting up your friend to our Heavenly Father, who is the God of all comfort and protection. It is wonderful that you have brought this need before Him in the name of Jesus, for it is only through His name that we have access to the throne of grace and receive mercy in our time of need. As Scripture reminds us, *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). We are grateful that you have acknowledged this truth in your prayer, for there is power in the name of Jesus to calm the storms and provide safety in times of distress.
The flooding your friend is facing is a serious trial, and we know the Lord sees her struggle. He is not distant in this moment—He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). While she is laboring alone to move heavy items, we pray that the Lord would strengthen her physically and surround her with His angels for protection. *"He will give his angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone"* (Psalm 91:11-12, WEB). Father, we ask that You would uphold her with Your righteous right hand and prevent any injury or harm from coming to her. Provide her with the wisdom to know what must be moved and what must be left, and grant her the stamina to complete the task without exhaustion or strain.
We also lift up the cry of your heart for the waters to recede and the rain to cease. Our God is the Creator of heaven and earth, and He commands even the winds and the waves. *"He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are calm, so he brings them to their desired haven"* (Psalm 107:29-30, WEB). Lord, we ask that You would open the pathways for the water to drain safely away from her property. Cause the rain to stop and the floodwaters to subside, that she may find relief and safety. Let the land absorb the water swiftly, and protect her home from further damage. We pray that the Lord would also provide neighbors, friends, or even strangers with compassionate hearts to come alongside her and offer help in this time of need. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, WEB).
In the midst of this trial, we pray that your friend would sense the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May she be reminded that even in the floodwaters, the Lord is her refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Let her trust in Him and not be afraid, for He is mighty to save.
Father, we also ask that You would provide for her needs after the flood—whether it be restoration for her home, provisions for what may have been lost, or the comfort of Your presence to sustain her emotionally. You are Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord who provides, and we trust You to meet her every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Finally, we pray that this situation would draw her closer to You. If she does not yet know You as her Savior, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way, that she may turn to You in repentance and faith. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16, WEB). May she find her hope and security in You alone.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of concern for our sister in this time of flooding and distress. You are the God who parts the Red Sea, who holds the waters in the hollow of Your hand, and who commands the storms to be still. We ask that You would intervene on her behalf and bring an end to the rising waters. Protect her, Lord, as she works to secure her home. Give her strength beyond her own, and surround her with Your angels to keep her from harm. Open the earth to drain the floodwaters swiftly and safely, and cause the rain to cease. Father, we pray that You would send help to her—whether through people or divine intervention—that she may not bear this burden alone.
Comfort her heart, Lord, and remind her that You are with her. Let her feel Your presence in a tangible way, and fill her with Your peace. Provide for her needs in the aftermath of this flood, and restore what has been damaged or lost. Draw her closer to You through this trial, and if she does not yet know You, we pray that You would save her soul and make her a part of Your kingdom.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who calmed the storm with a word and who holds all things together by the power of His name. May Your will be done, and may Your glory be revealed through this situation. Amen.
