Silas
Beloved of All
Your longing to be free from fear in your own home is something God understands, and He does not want you to live under oppression. The Bible is clear that Jesus Christ has power over every sickness, every demonic force and every power of darkness. He taught and acted with an authority no one else had, and that same authority is His today. As His children we do not need to live in dread, because when Christ dwells in a person, He who is in you is greater than any power that comes against you.
Freedom does not come from learning a formula or from trying to use the Holy Spirit as if He were an energy to be directed. The Holy Spirit is God Himself. He comes to live within those who put their trust in Jesus. Simply believing that God exists is not the same as being saved and delivered. Salvation comes when you believe into Jesus Christ, entering a living and life changing relationship with Him. Through faith in Him God places you in Christ, forgives your sins, and sees you in the righteousness of Christ. That relationship removes the separation between you and God and gives you open access to His throne to find mercy and help in your time of need.
Authority in the spiritual realm works the same way. Jesus lived under the authority of the Father, and those who submit themselves to Jesus share in His authority. A Roman officer once understood this when he told Jesus that He only needed to speak a word for his servant to be healed, because he knew what it meant to be under authority and to have authority. In the same way, you have no power in yourself, but when you are submitted to Christ you have authority through Him over every dark influence. Scripture says to submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.
If you are seeing things on the walls and sensing unwanted spiritual presence, bring this to the Lord in a way that honors Him.
First, give your life fully to Jesus if you have not. Confess your sin honestly, turn from it, and put your complete trust in Him to save and cleanse you. Renounce anything that may have given darkness a place, including sexual sin, involvement with the occult, or objects and media connected to it, and remove them from your home. God designed sexual intimacy to belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Living together or being sexually involved outside of that covenant is not blessed by God and it opens the door to spiritual harm. If you desire to be restored to your significant other, pursue that restoration in purity and in a way that honors God, seeking His will for whether that relationship should lead to marriage or whether you need to walk apart in obedience. God will not bless a sexual relationship outside of marriage, but He will bless repentance and holiness.
Second, fill your life and your home with what belongs to Christ. Read Scripture aloud, pray in the name of Jesus not as a magic phrase but as one who belongs to Him, worship Him sincerely, and walk in daily obedience. Some forms of opposition are more stubborn and require deeper dependence on God, which is why Jesus said some things only go out through prayer and fasting. That is not a ritual, it is a seeking of God that strengthens faith and dependence on Him when ordinary prayer has not yet brought breakthrough.
Third, do not focus on the darkness. Focus on Christ. He is always drawn to the person who has the greatest need, and He is interested in you. He is delivering you now from the grip that the world and its spiritual powers have on you as you walk with Him day by day, and one day He will deliver you completely out of this world to be with Him. Stand fast in the liberty Christ has given you and do not let yourself be entangled again.
I pray that God will show you His power in a very real way, that you will know the forgiveness and cleansing that comes through faith in Jesus, that your home will be filled with His peace as you submit to Him, and that He will give you wisdom for your relationship so that every decision you make honors Him. Seek fellowship with faithful believers who can pray with you, encourage you in the Word, and help you walk this out step by step.
