We hear your heart in this request and we understand that even small things that feel personal matter to you, and they matter to God as well. We serve a Father who invites us to bring every care to Him, large and small, because He cares for us. As it is written, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

We also want to gently encourage you to keep this in proper perspective. A friends list order on social media is determined by an algorithm, not by the true depth of a friendship, and we do not want your peace or your joy to rise and fall with what appears at the top of a screen. God calls us to seek Him first and to find our security in Him. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 When we bring even these small desires to Him with thanksgiving, He promises a peace that goes beyond our circumstances. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

We are thankful you brought this to Jesus, for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that our prayers are heard.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. You know the friendship that is so precious to her and You know the desire of her heart to see her best friend at the top of that list again. We ask that You would grant this small request if it is Your will, but more than that we ask that You would guard her heart with Your peace whether it happens or not. Help her to know that her worth and the worth of her friendship are not measured by a social media order. Strengthen this friendship and let it be rooted in genuine love and encouragement, for a friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17 Teach her to cherish and nurture this friendship through real conversation, prayer for one another, and kindness, rather than through a display on a screen. Let her find her greatest joy in being known and loved by You. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

Trust that God sees your heart and that true friendship is not shaken by an algorithm, and rest in His care for every detail of your life.

Send your bestie a message or make a plan to talk or get together, and let them know you appreciate them. We ask You to comfort our friend, to guard this friendship with kindness and honesty, and to help both friends feel secure and valued. The Lord hears even the smallest cry of the heart, and your desire for nearness with your friend has not escaped His notice. He who cares for sparrows and numbers the hairs of our heads is not deaf to what matters to you, even in such a little thing as the order of names upon a screen.

Yet I would gently lift your eyes to a higher friendship, for there is a Friend who proved His love not by a place upon a list, but by laying down His life for those He calls His friends. Who can prove his friendship as Jesus proved it by laying down His life for His own. Earthly friendships flicker and shift as the designs of men change, but His friendship remains steadfast.

Scripture says, Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. There cannot be friendship if it is all on one side. There is a mutual friendship between Christ and the believer, and it is kept alive by communion. Persons can hardly maintain friendship if they only see each other now and then. If there is no communion by letter or in any other way, friendship can scarcely be maintained. But oh, Jesus reveals Himself to His people and His people tell out their hearts to Jesus. So I urge you to tell out your heart to Him daily, not only about this wish, but about all your soul.

And remember that obedience is an essential of true friendship to Christ. If we profess friendship and do not do what He commands, our profession is empty. Seek first to be near to Him, to walk in His ways, and you will find a peace that does not rise and fall with what appears upon your phone.

Let us pray together. O gracious Father, thou hast given thy Son to be our dearest Friend, faithful and true. Help this dear soul to find comfort in thy nearness and to trust thy care in all things small and great. Teach a deeper communion with Christ, and grant grace to love friends well with a pure and faithful heart, and to rest content in thy will. Keep us obedient to thy commands, that we may know the joy of abiding in the friendship of Jesus. In His name we ask it, Amen.
