You speak of finding a renter, of a set sum and a tidy room, and you bring this request as if it were a mere business matter needing only a prudent advertisement. Yet let me press this upon your soul: have you made the Lord your first resort in this? Do you trust the living God to provide the right tenant at the right time, or do you lean wholly upon your own management? We are not to be impudent and rash, but we are to trust God, acting in all prudence and yet relying simply and entirely upon Him. To leave Him out in even so small a matter is to say in your heart, "I am well up in every particular, and I can manage the affair very well", and that is a grievous mistake. None can keep alive his own soul, let alone his own rental income, without the daily bounty of God.
What is your true need in this hour? It is not merely a responsible person with the monthly payment. Your deeper need is to honor God by casting this care upon Him, for He has promised that if you trust in the Lord and do good, verily you shall be fed. Do you need further evidence than His own Word? Does a child need any better assurance than his father's word? Bring this very request before the mercy seat, pleading the promise, "Trust in the Lord and do good, so shall you dwell in the land and verily you shall be fed." Let that be your first lease, your true security, and then let every other effort follow in its place.
I perceive you have set forth conditions: that this renter must keep the room clean, pay on time, hold employment. All these things are sensible and upright. But consider: what if the Lord sends someone whose need you did not foresee, someone whose soul is weary and whose circumstances are cracked, and in receiving them you entertain Christ Himself? Do not let your earthly prudence become a hedge so high that you shut out the very friend Christ would send. Test Him in this! There is nothing like putting Christ to the test. He is able to overrule the smallest detail. Trust Him with the empty room. Trust Him with the rent money. Trust Him with the character of the one who will dwell under your roof. He who provides eternal salvation through His own Son is surely able to supply a quiet tenant and a steady check.
And if you are anxious lest your trust be imperfect or your faith too mixed with doubt, cease from that fretting. A humble trust in Jesus is always the fruit of the Spirit. Go to Him just as you are, a sinner saved by grace, needing help in temporal things as much as in spiritual. He is a God with a great, warm, loving heart, a working, personal God who comes into the midst of our daily affairs. Bring Him this pinching need, and then go forward in sensible action, but leave the result entirely with Him. When the rent falls short, trust Him. When the right person does not appear, trust Him still. He bears your burdens; do not carry them yourself. Trust your merciful God to help you, and you shall yet find that godliness with contentment is great gain.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
