We hear your deep longing to find a godly spouse, and we join you in bringing this desire before the Lord. The Bible tells us that "he who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord" (Proverbs 18:22). Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). It is not merely about finding a "soulmate" but about seeking a spouse who shares your faith in Jesus Christ and your commitment to living according to God’s Word.
First, we must address the language of "soulmate" and "reunited," as these terms can carry unbiblical connotations. The idea of a predestined, perfect soulmate is not found in Scripture. Instead, God calls us to seek a spouse who is equally yoked in faith (2 Corinthians 6:14), someone with whom you can grow in Christ and build a marriage that honors Him. If you are currently unmarried, we encourage you to focus on cultivating a heart that seeks God’s will above all else. Trust that He knows the desires of your heart and will provide in His perfect timing (Psalm 37:4-5).
If you are already in a relationship, we must emphasize the importance of purity and godly conduct. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage (Hebrews 13:4). If you are engaging in physical intimacy outside of marriage, we lovingly but firmly rebuke this sin of fornication. Repentance and turning away from this behavior is necessary to walk in obedience to God’s design for relationships. Confess this to the Lord and seek accountability with a trusted believer to help you honor Him with your body (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
We also want to gently remind you that our access to God is only through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through Him alone that we can come boldly before the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. Salvation comes through believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9-10). Without this foundation, our prayers and desires cannot be fully aligned with God’s will.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that long to see Your will fulfilled in the life of Your child. Lord, You know the desire for companionship and marriage, and we ask that You would guide and direct in this area. Help them to seek You first above all else, trusting that You will provide a godly spouse in Your perfect timing. If there is any sin in their life, particularly in the area of relationships or purity, we ask for conviction and repentance. Cleanse their heart, Lord, and renew their mind according to Your Word.
Father, we pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate relationships. May they be drawn to someone who loves You wholeheartedly and shares their commitment to living for Your glory. Protect them from the temptation to compromise their values or rush into a relationship that does not honor You. Strengthen them to walk in purity and to honor You with their body, mind, and spirit.
Lord, if they have not yet placed their faith in Jesus Christ, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and soften their heart to receive the gift of salvation. May they come to know the depth of Your love and the power of Your grace.
We trust in Your faithfulness, Lord, and we ask that You would fulfill Your purposes in their life. Whether You have marriage in store for them or a season of singleness to serve You in a unique way, may they find contentment and joy in You alone. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
