We hear your cry and stand with you in this overwhelming time of financial distress. The weight of debt and the fear of not being able to provide for your most basic needs can feel crushing, but we want you to know that you are not alone. The Lord sees your struggle and cares deeply for you. In Psalm 34:18-19, it says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." Even in this moment of despair, God is near, and He is your provider.
First, we must address the reality of debt with honesty and wisdom. Scripture warns us about the dangers of debt and the burden it can place on our lives. Proverbs 22:7 says, "The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender." While debt may feel like the only option, we must seek God’s wisdom in how we manage it. We encourage you to take a step back and assess your situation with clarity. Are there expenses that can be reduced or eliminated? Are there ways to generate additional income, even if it is small at first? Proverbs 6:1-5 urges us to free ourselves from the snare of debt: "My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger; you are trapped by the words of your mouth. You are ensnared with the words of your mouth. Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, since you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor." Seek counsel from wise, godly individuals who can help you navigate this season with integrity and faith.
We also want to gently remind you that our ultimate trust must be in God, not in financial institutions or human solutions. In Matthew 6:31-33, Jesus tells us, "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." This does not mean that God will instantly remove your financial struggles, but it does mean that He will provide for your needs as you seek Him first. We encourage you to bring your anxieties to Him in prayer, trusting that He will guide you step by step.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is burdened by debt and financial despair. Lord, You see his tears, his fear, and his overwhelming sense of helplessness. We ask that You would wrap Your arms around him and remind him that You are his Provider, his Strength, and his Hope. Father, we pray for wisdom and clarity as he navigates this difficult season. Show him the steps he needs to take to honor You with his finances, whether that means seeking godly counsel, finding creative ways to generate income, or learning to trust You more deeply.
Lord, we ask that You would open doors of provision that no man can shut. Provide for his daily needs, food, shelter, and the means to address his debts in a way that honors You. Help him to resist the temptation to despair or to seek solutions that do not align with Your will. Remind him that You are a God who sees, who cares, and who acts on behalf of Your children. Give him the strength to persevere, even when the road ahead feels impossible.
Father, we also pray for those to whom he owes money. Soften their hearts and grant them patience and understanding as he works to fulfill his obligations. May this season of hardship draw him closer to You, deepening his faith and reliance on Your promises. We declare that You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we trust that You will make a way where there seems to be no way.

We want to encourage you to hold fast to your faith, even when the circumstances seem impossible. In Philippians 4:19, Paul writes, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This is not a promise of wealth or ease, but a promise that God will meet your needs as you seek Him. We also encourage you to seek out a local church or Christian community where you can find support, prayer, and practical help. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and there may be resources or opportunities available to you through godly fellowship.
Lastly, we urge you to guard your heart against bitterness or resentment toward those who have lent you money or toward the bank that rejected your loan. Instead, ask God to help you respond with grace and integrity, even in this difficult season. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Surrender your finances, your fears, and your future to Him, and trust that He will lead you forward. You are not forgotten, and this season of hardship will not define you. God is at work, even now.
