Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for provision in this time of financial pressure is heard, and it is right to bring your need directly to God who has promised to supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
The fear and doubt you describe are very real when resources feel thin, but Scripture makes a distinction that can help steady your heart. There is a fear that unsettles and traps, and there is the reverent fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. That reverent fear is not a phobia, it is a deep respect for God that turns away from evil and puts Him first. When that reverence is the starting place, all other knowledge is put in its proper order, and you can see your finances not as a master over you but as something under His care.
God wants you to live in peace, and He has made a way for that peace to be real. First there is peace with God, which comes only through the blood of Jesus who made peace at the cross and forgives sin. When you are no longer at war with God, the inward war begins to quiet. Then there is the peace of God, the steady keeping power that guards the heart and mind. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world offers peace only when circumstances are calm, but His peace remains even when bills are pressing and the future feels uncertain.
That peace is kept for the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because he trusts in Him. It is a perfect peace, complete and guarded, that passes all understanding. The Lord is your light and your salvation, whom shall you fear. The Lord is the strength of your life, of whom shall you be afraid. He has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. The fear of what people think or what might happen tomorrow is a snare, but whoever puts his trust in the Lord shall be safe, and in the time of trouble He hides His own and keeps them.
His thoughts toward you are not thoughts of evil but of peace, to give you hope and an expected end. When you call upon Him and pray, He hearkens. That does not mean He always removes the trial instantly, but He ordains peace for you in the midst of it and works in you as you keep your eyes on Him. As you trust Him, honor Him also with what you have, even in little, with a faithful and honest stewardship of your substance, looking to Him as your provider rather than to circumstances.
May you experience both kinds of peace today, peace with God through Jesus and the keeping peace of God in your heart. I pray that He will lift the weight of fear and unbelief, fill you with confidence in His care, provide for your daily needs according to His wisdom, and keep your mind stayed on Him so that you walk in His perfect peace. In Jesus name, amen.
