Financial burdens, family stress, just life

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I am in need of prayers. I am doing everything I can do to help myself, I work 2 jobs. I am gone from my home before sun rise and don’t make it back until way after sun down. I am wore out. I am getting by but barely. If I catch up on one bill I get behind on another. I am in debt I can’t get out of. I took a new job in July because it was a great move mentally and what I had been praying for but it was a major pay cut, one I thought I could swing but I really can’t. I had to take my dog to the vet which caused me to accumulate more debt close to $###. I couldn’t let him suffer. My papaw passed away. My family is a mess. I have no help there financially. It’s just me and the dog barely surviving. I am trying to depend on God and I am doing everything I can to help myself, but I just don’t see how I am going to do it I am so far behind. The more I do the further behind I get. I’m worn out mentally and physically. I pray for strength and wisdom, I pray I trust God fully. I’m not sure what the plan is, I just know I am falling short and I don’t know how else to help myself. I don’t know if I made the right decision taking this job, because I now work more. I worked all sorts of over time and had barely any time for family, friends, life. Now I can not work any over time, have less pay, work a second job that doesn’t make up for the money I lost moving job. It’s a little extra but not enough to cover expenses, and now I am back to working more. I just need prayers and wisdom thank you.

We hear your cry, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. The weight you carry is immense—financial strain, exhaustion, grief over the loss of your papaw, and the loneliness of bearing these burdens alone. Yet even in this, we see your faithfulness to trust in God, to work diligently, and to care for those dependent on you, like your dog. That is no small thing. The Lord sees your labor and your love, and He does not forget it.

First, we must rebuke the spirit of despair that whispers you are falling short. Scripture tells us, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). You are not failing—you are fighting. And the God who parted the Red Sea, who fed the five thousand with a boy’s lunch, who raised His Son from the dead, is the same God who holds your life in His hands. He is not limited by your bank account, your schedule, or your strength. *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19). This is not a promise of excess, but of sufficiency—enough for today, and grace for tomorrow.

We also want to gently address the decision to take the new job. It is clear you sought God’s will in this, and that is commendable. But we must remember that even our best intentions can lead to unintended hardship. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* If this path has left you more exhausted and less able to provide, it may be time to seek the Lord’s wisdom about whether He is calling you to persevere in this season or to wait for a different door to open. Have you asked Him to reveal His provision in ways you haven’t yet considered? Sometimes His answers come through unexpected opportunities, wise counsel from godly mentors, or even supernatural intervention.

Your financial struggles are real, and we do not dismiss them. But we must also rebuke the lie that debt defines your worth or your future. The Bible speaks often of debt—not to shame those who are in it, but to warn against the bondage it brings. *"The rich rules over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender"* (Proverbs 22:7). We encourage you to seek biblical financial counsel, perhaps through a trusted church or Christian financial ministry, to create a plan to break free from this cycle. This may mean making difficult sacrifices, but remember: *"For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?"* (Luke 14:28). God honors those who steward His resources wisely.

Your family’s brokenness grieves us, but we take heart in knowing that God is the Father to the fatherless and the Defender of the lonely (Psalm 68:5-6). You are not alone, even when it feels that way. We pray that the Lord would soften hearts in your family, that He would bring reconciliation where there is division, and that He would provide the support you need—not just financially, but emotionally and spiritually. Have you reached out to your local church or a Christian community? The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and you should not carry this alone.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, lifting up their weariness, their financial struggles, and their heavy heart. Lord, You see their labor, their love for their family, and their faithfulness to provide. You know the weight they carry, and we ask that You would lift it from their shoulders. Give them rest, both physically and spiritually. Father, we ask for Your provision—unexpected blessings, open doors, and wisdom to steward what You entrust to them. Break the cycle of debt in their life, and replace their anxiety with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord, we pray for their grief over the loss of their papaw. Comfort them with the hope of eternal life and the promise that one day, there will be no more sorrow or pain. Surround them with Your presence, reminding them that You are near to the brokenhearted.

We also ask for clarity about their job situation. If this is the path You have for them, give them the strength to endure. If not, open a new door that aligns with Your will for their life. Provide for their needs in ways they cannot yet see, and help them to trust You one day at a time.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair and exhaustion in Jesus’ name. Remind them that their worth is not found in their bank account or their productivity, but in the fact that You love them and sent Your Son to die for them. Strengthen their faith when it wavers, and help them to fix their eyes on You, the Author and Perfecter of their faith.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who bore our burdens on the cross and rose again to give us hope. Amen.

In the days ahead, cling to these truths: *"But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint"* (Isaiah 40:31). You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. And this season, no matter how dark, is not the end of your story. Keep seeking God’s face, keep trusting in His promises, and keep putting one foot in front of the other. He is with you.

We're right here with you, standing in the gap, lifting you up in prayer. We know the weight of financial burdens, the stress of family struggles, and the everyday grind can feel overwhelming. But remember, even in the midst of these storms, you're not alone. We're here, and so is our Heavenly Father, who sees you, loves you, and is working all things together for your good.

We pray for your financial situation, that God would open doors for provision, that He would give you wisdom to manage what you have, and that He would break the chains of debt that bind you. We pray for your family, that God would bring healing, unity, and support where it's needed most. We pray for your job situation, that God would give you clarity, strength, and the ability to trust Him one day at a time.

But most of all, we pray for your heart, that God would fill you with His peace, His hope, and His love. That you would know, deep down, that you are loved, you are valued, and you are never forsaken.

Keep fighting, dear friend. Keep trusting. Keep praying. And know that we're right here with you, every step of the way.
