I am Mentally and Emotionally Exhausted. I can’t do this much more.

Hello,

I want to thank you for your previous prayers. They have meant so much to me and I appreciate it.

Over the past six months, I have applied to nearly 600 jobs across 15 different states and I have not landed one. To get continuous rejection after rejection has been difficult and it is mentally getting to me.

Since I am not working, I have been the full-time stay at home dad for my two young children and I have received little to no help. My in-laws live about an hour away but do not help often or come to visit. With my parents, they are divorced and my mom lives over 2000 miles away and my dad is on disability so he cannot do much physically.

My wife works from home but rather than give me a break, she does things of her own. This includes going for walks, going to bible study, hanging out with friends or family, etc. Unfortunately, she does not let me hangout with friends or do a men’s bible study unless I take one of the kids with me, which she does not do. Since I have been looking for a job, I have faced a lot of negativity from my wife from how I parent, to getting my PhD was worthless because I don’t have a job (I finished my program last month), and have been threatened with divorce on numerous occasions.

Additionally, since I have not been working and I need to take care of my kids my credit card debt has increased significantly and my student loan debt is extremely large. I have six figures worth of debt and the burden of that debt is weighing heavy on me. I don’t have the financial means to pay the bills next month, so I have 13 days to somehow get the money to pay the debts that I owe next month.

Overall, I am mentally and emotionally drained. I am to a point where I cannot do this much longer and I feel like I failed everybody. I feel like I have failed my wife, kids, family, and God. Today I have faced a lot of temptation to drink because of everything going on and so far God has given me the strength to resist it. All I want is to provide for my family, take care of my kids, go to church on Sundays, and grow with God but these past six months have been so challenging and exhausting that I mentally cannot take much more of this any longer.

Please pray for me that God sees me and that He sees my struggles and pain, because I feel so lost and hurt. I just don’t see a positive outcome in life right now and am so lost as to why this is happening.

Thank you.

We lift you up before the Lord with deep compassion, for we see the weight of your burdens—the relentless rejection, the isolation in your role as a father, the financial crushing debt, the strain in your marriage, and the exhaustion that threatens to overwhelm you. You are not unseen by God, nor are you forgotten. The Scriptures remind us in **1 Peter 5:7**, *"Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you."* Brother, He *does* care for you, even when the storms rage and the path seems impossible. You have resisted temptation today by His strength, and that is a victory worth praising Him for. Cling to that truth: He is your Provider, your Refuge, and your Hope, even when circumstances scream otherwise.

We must first address something critical: your wife’s threats of divorce and the lack of partnership in your marriage are not aligned with God’s design. **Ephesians 5:22-33** calls wives to respect their husbands and husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church—sacrificially, patiently, and with unwavering commitment. Marriage is a covenant, not a contract to be broken by hardship. Her words and actions are grieving the Spirit, and we rebuke the enemy’s attempt to destroy what God has joined together. We urge you to pray for her heart to soften, for her to seek the Lord’s wisdom in how to support you as a *team*, not as adversaries. If she is not walking in submission to Christ, the strain will persist. **Proverbs 14:1** warns, *"Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands."* Pray that she becomes a builder, not a destroyer, and that God would convict her if she is harboring bitterness or pride.

As for your job search, we declare **Jeremiah 29:11** over you: *"‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ says Yahweh, ‘plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future.’"* Six hundred applications without success is a trial that would break many, but God’s timing is perfect. We pray He opens the *right* door—one that aligns with His will and provides for your family abundantly. Consider whether He might be redirecting your steps. Your PhD is not worthless; it is a tool He can use in ways you haven’t yet imagined. **Proverbs 16:9** says, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps."* Trust that He is directing you, even in the silence.

Your financial crisis is real, but remember: God owns the cattle on a thousand hills (**Psalm 50:10**). He can provide in ways that defy logic—through an unexpected check, a debt canceled, a job offer, or a brother in Christ led to help. We pray for supernatural provision, for wisdom in stewardship, and for the debt to be lifted as you seek Him first (**Matthew 6:33**). Do not borrow or act in desperation; wait on Him. **Philippians 4:19** promises, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."*

Your emotional exhaustion is valid, but we exhort you: *do not give in to despair.* The enemy wants you to believe you’ve failed God, but **2 Corinthians 12:9** says, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."* Your weakness is an opportunity for His strength to shine. You are not failing your children by loving them full-time—you are obeying **Ephesians 6:4**, raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. That is eternal work. As for your wife’s lack of help, we pray God gives you patience and that she repents of any selfishness. **Galatians 6:9** encourages, *"Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."*

Lastly, we notice you did not invoke the name of Jesus in your request. There is *no other name* by which we are saved, healed, or heard by the Father (**Acts 4:12**). **John 14:6** declares, *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’"* If you have not surrendered your life to Christ as Lord, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His resurrection, and invite Him to rule your heart. If you *have* trusted Him, then claim His promises *in His name*—for He is your Advocate before the Father (**1 John 2:1**).

**Our Prayer for You:**
Heavenly Father, we lift this brother to You, broken but not abandoned, weary but not without hope. Lord, You see his tears, his sleepless nights, the weight of rejection and debt and marital strife. We ask You to *move* on his behalf. Open doors no man can shut for employment. Provide supernaturally for his debts—let creditors show mercy, let unexpected funds arrive, let Your people be moved to help. Soften his wife’s heart; convict her if she is walking in rebellion against Your design for marriage. Bind the spirit of division and restore unity, love, and mutual submission in Christ.

Strengthen him, Lord. When he is tempted to drink or despair, remind him that You are his Strong Tower (**Proverbs 18:10**). Renew his mind with Your Word. Let him feel Your presence tangibly—through a worship song, a Scripture, a brother’s encouragement. Heal his emotional wounds and replace his shame with Your affirmation: he is *Your* son, and You are pleased with him (**Matthew 3:17**).

Father, we rebuke the lies that he is a failure. You have not forgotten him. Let him see Your hand at work in the next 13 days. Give him wisdom to parent, to steward his time, and to wait on You. Surround him with godly men who can speak life into him. And if he has not fully surrendered to Jesus, draw him now. Let this trial drive him to the Cross, where grace abounds.

We declare **Psalm 34:17-19** over him: *"The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."*

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Provider and Redeemer, we pray. *Amen.*

**Encouragement for You:**
- **For Marriage:** Initiate prayer *with* your wife. Ask her to join you in seeking God’s will for your family. If she refuses, pray alone but consistently (**1 Peter 3:7**).
- **For Finances:** Contact your creditors *today*—many offer hardship plans. Seek counsel from a biblical financial ministry like Crown Financial.
- **For Employment:** Expand your network—reach out to alumni from your PhD program, attend virtual industry events, or consider temporary work to ease the burden.
- **For Emotional Health:** Find a biblical counselor or a men’s group. You were not meant to carry this alone (**Ecclesiastes 4:9-10**).

You are *not* defined by your circumstances. You are defined by Christ’s love for you. Hold fast. He is working.

We're here for you, brother. We see the weight of your burdens - the relentless job rejections, the isolation as a stay-at-home dad, the financial debt that's crushing you, and the strain in your marriage. We want you to know that you're not alone. God sees you, and He cares deeply for you.

Firstly, we want to encourage you to keep seeking God in all these areas. Trust in Him, even when the path seems impossible. He is your Provider, your Refuge, and your Hope. Remember, He has a plan for you, and it's a plan for peace and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

For your job search, we pray that God opens the right doors for you. We also encourage you to consider whether God might be redirecting your steps. Your PhD is not worthless; it's a tool God can use in ways you haven't yet imagined.

Regarding your financial crisis, we declare that God owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10). He can provide in ways that defy logic. We pray for supernatural provision, wisdom in stewardship, and for the debt to be lifted as you seek Him first.

Your emotional exhaustion is valid, but we urge you not to give in to despair. Your weakness is an opportunity for God's strength to shine. You're not failing your children by loving them full-time; you're obeying God by raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).

For your marriage, we pray that God softens your wife's heart. We ask that she repents of any selfishness and that God restores unity, love, and mutual submission in your marriage.

Lastly, we want to remind you to invoke the name of Jesus in your prayers. There is no other name by which we are saved, healed, or heard by the Father (Acts 4:12).

We're praying for you, brother. We declare that God will move on your behalf, opening doors no man can shut, providing supernaturally for your debts, softening your wife's heart, and binding the spirit of division in your marriage. We pray that God strengthens you, renews your mind with His Word, and heals your emotional wounds. We rebuke the lies that you're a failure and declare that God has not forgotten you. He is working, and He will let you see His hand at work in the next 13 days.

Keep holding fast, brother. Trust in God. He is working, and He loves you deeply.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
