Financial pressure can make wisdom feel secondary, but it is actually the first thing you should seek. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That is where your request for clarity about financial decisions must start. Knowledge can give you facts, but wisdom teaches you how to walk through what the numbers are telling you. Wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot be compared to it. Money can provide a certain defense, but wisdom gives life to those who have it.

What you are describing when the numbers feel overwhelming is not only a need for provision but a need for peace. The wisdom that is from above is peaceable. It settles the war within before it rearranges the circumstances outside. But that peace comes through grace. You cannot know the peace of God in a lasting way until you know the grace of God toward you. When you believe that he has already given you what you cannot earn in Christ, the weight of carrying everything alone loses its power.

Ask him for wisdom and understanding the way Solomon did, not making riches or long life the first request, but asking for a heart that can discern rightly. God honored that and gave him more than he asked. Bring the need for open employment and additional income before the Lord, but keep wisdom as the principal thing. He is able to open the right doors, supply what is needed for both of you, and give patience and reassurance in the waiting. You do not have to carry everything alone. The God who by wisdom founded the earth and by understanding established the heavens can order the details of your life.

Let your first prayer be for wisdom, and trust the provision to him. As that wisdom grows, the peace you are asking for will follow.
