Thank you for sharing so honestly about the weight your family is carrying. Financial pressure when work is not coming and applications go unanswered is deeply discouraging, and it is right to bring that burden to the Lord and to ask others to pray with you.
Scripture shows that even faithful believers have known severe financial hardship. The church in Jerusalem went through a time of great need, and God provided for them both through the generosity of other believers and through ordinary honest work. The apostle Paul himself worked with his own hands so he would not be a burden, and other believers who were successful in business used what God had given them to help others and to open their homes for the work of the Lord. God sees your diligence in applying and your desire to provide, and He is not distant from these practical needs.
I want to encourage you to keep giving God room to work as He desires. In the law, God made a provision for the cleansing of a leper even though leprosy was considered incurable. He left the way open for Him to do a miracle if He chose. In the same way, do not put God in a box about how He must provide. He is able to open a job, to bless the work of your hands in a business, or to provide through unexpected means. Keep seeking Him and leaving the outcome in His hands.
Long seasons of disappointment, of just getting by and struggling to survive, can feel wasted, but God often uses those very years to prepare us for what He has ahead. He is shaping character, perseverance, and trust in Him that will serve you well whatever door He opens next.
As you take steps toward starting a business, God's Word gives clear and practical wisdom. Slackness in work tends toward poverty, but the hand of the diligent brings increase. The wise son gathers in summer and makes good use of opportunity. God also calls His people to be upright and honest in all business dealings. A false balance is detestable to Him, but a just weight is His delight. You may hear people say you cannot stay in business if you are completely honest, but dishonesty destroys a reputation and in the end destroys the dishonest person, while honesty builds trust and a good name that lasts. Riches themselves do not deliver in the day of trouble, but righteousness does. Build your work on diligence, honesty, humility, and integrity.
Above all, remember the words of Jesus when He was young, that He must be about His Father's business. That was not a casual ought or should, but a must that governed His life. Let seeking the Father's will be your first business. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and trust Him to add what you need for daily life.
