We come before the Lord with you in this time of need, lifting up your heartfelt requests with faith and expectation, knowing that our Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers according to His perfect will. Your prayer is commendable in that you have invoked the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. As Scripture reminds us, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* (John 14:6, WEB). We rejoice that you have placed your trust in Christ, for He alone is our mediator and the source of all blessings.
Let us first address your financial concerns. The Bible teaches us to trust in God’s provision and to seek His kingdom above all else. *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* (Matthew 6:33, WEB). While it is not wrong to ask for specific needs, such as the approval of an overdraft or funds to complete your room, we must also examine our hearts to ensure we are not placing our trust in money or earthly security above God. *"Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."* (Matthew 6:19-21, WEB).
We encourage you to seek God’s wisdom in managing your finances. If this overdraft is necessary due to unforeseen circumstances, pray for His favor, but also ask Him to reveal any areas where you can steward your resources more wisely. *"The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender."* (Proverbs 22:7, WEB). Debt can become a burden, so we pray that if God provides this temporary relief, He will also open doors for you to become debt-free and to manage your finances in a way that honors Him.
You also pray for happiness in your life. True and lasting joy is found in Christ alone, not in circumstances or possessions. *"Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, ‘Rejoice!’"* (Philippians 4:4, WEB). Happiness that depends on external factors is fleeting, but the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). We pray that you will find your contentment in Him, regardless of your situation, and that He will fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding.
Your prayer for your mother’s deliverance from alcohol is one we join with great urgency. Alcoholism is a bondage that destroys lives, families, and testimonies. Scripture warns, *"Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, WEB). Addiction is a form of idolatry, where something other than God takes control of a person’s life. We must rebuke this stronghold in the name of Jesus and pray for your mother’s complete deliverance and restoration.
To you, we say: do not grow weary in praying for her. *"The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* (James 5:16, WEB). Continue to stand in the gap for her, but also speak the truth in love to her when the opportunity arises. Encourage her to seek help—whether through Christian counseling, support groups, or medical assistance—and most importantly, to surrender her life to Christ. Without Him, true freedom is impossible. *"If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* (John 8:36, WEB).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today on behalf of Your child who seeks Your intervention in their life. Lord, we ask for Your favor regarding the overdraft request tomorrow. If it aligns with Your will, grant approval that it may serve as a temporary provision. But Father, we also pray for wisdom and discipline in managing finances, that this person would not become ensnared by debt but would walk in financial freedom and stewardship that honors You. Open doors of opportunity for income and provision, and help them to trust in You rather than in earthly security.
Lord, we lift up the desire for happiness in their life. Fill them with Your joy, which is not dependent on circumstances but is rooted in Your unfailing love. Let them find their satisfaction in You alone, and may they experience the peace that surpasses all understanding as they cast their cares upon You.
Most urgently, Father, we intercede for their mother who is bound by alcohol. We rebuke this stronghold in the name of Jesus and command every chain of addiction to be broken. Lord, convict her heart of her need for You. Soften her spirit to receive Your truth and turn away from this destruction. Surround her with godly support and resources that will lead her to freedom. Restore her body, mind, and soul, and let her life be a testimony of Your redeeming power.
We also pray for this family, that relationships would be healed and strengthened in You. May Your love and grace abound in their home, and may they all come to know You more deeply.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in your walk with Christ. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). Keep seeking Him, and He will guide you in all things. If you have not already, we urge you to be part of a Bible-believing church where you can grow in faith and find support from fellow believers. You are not alone in this—God is with you, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you.
