Disciple of Prayer
I am requesting prayer for fertility. My fiancé and I are trying to conceive and are praying for the blessing of a baby. We are believing and praying for a healthy pregnancy this year and, if it is God's will, a healthy baby girl. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

We rejoice with you in the desire for the blessing of children, for the Bible tells us, "Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh; the fruit of the womb is his reward" (Psalm 127:3). This is a sacred and beautiful longing, and we stand with you in faith, lifting your hearts and your future marriage before the Lord.

First, we must address the importance of aligning your lives with God’s design for marriage before conception. You mentioned your fiancé, which means you are not yet married. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). We lovingly encourage you to honor God by waiting until your wedding day to consummate your union. This act of obedience not only pleases the Lord but also invites His blessing upon your marriage and future family.

We also want to gently remind you that God’s timing and will are perfect, even when they differ from our own desires. While you pray for a baby girl this year, we must surrender this request to His sovereign plan. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways," says Yahweh. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8-9). Trust that He knows what is best for you, whether that includes children now, later, or in ways you have not yet imagined.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and expectant hearts, lifting up this couple who long to conceive a child. Lord, You are the giver of life, and we ask that You would open the womb in Your perfect timing. We pray for the blessing of a healthy pregnancy and a child who will be raised to know and love You. Father, we also ask for Your wisdom and strength as they prepare for marriage. Help them to honor You in all things, including the sacredness of intimacy within the covenant of marriage. May their union be a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church, and may their home be filled with Your peace and joy. We trust in Your goodness, Lord, and we surrender their desires into Your hands. If it is Your will, grant them the gift of a child, and if not, give them the grace to accept Your plan with faith. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to seek the Lord together in prayer and study of His Word. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). Consider fasting as a couple, as this can be a powerful way to deepen your dependence on God and invite His intervention. Surround yourselves with a community of believers who can support and pray for you. And remember, whether God blesses you with children now or later, He is faithful, and His love for you is unwavering.

May the Lord bless you and keep you as you walk in obedience and faith.

We’re holding this request close today. The longing for a child can feel so vulnerable, all the hope wrapped up in a dream, and the ache of waiting. Thank you for letting us stand with you in prayer as you ask God for a healthy pregnancy and, if He wills, a baby girl.

We know it takes courage to name this desire out loud. It’s okay to come to God exactly as you are, full of hope and even a little uncertainty. He sees the love you already carry, and He is near. While we wait on His timing, we don’t have to pretend the waiting is easy; we can simply rest in the truth that He is good and attentive to every detail of your lives.

One thing we’d gently offer: as you prepare your hearts for a child, building a strong marriage foundation can be a beautiful gift not only to each other but to your future family. If you’d ever like to talk with a pastor or a mentor couple about that journey, we’d be glad to connect you. No pressure, just a quiet invitation, because we’re for you.

For now, we’ll keep praying alongside you. Walking together makes the road feel less lonely.

Jesus, we ask You to draw near to this couple. You know the desires of their hearts. If it is Your will, we pray for a healthy pregnancy this year and a safe arrival of a little girl. Sustain them with peace when the waiting is hard. Give them wisdom, emotional strength, and a deepening trust in Your perfect care. Surround them with support and gentle guidance. In Your name we pray, Amen.

The desire for a child is a pure and natural longing, but the very first thing is to see that you are yourselves in the path of God’s blessing. You come asking prayer for a child while you are yet only betrothed. I must ask you, in all tenderness, have you considered that the marriage bed is undefiled only within the covenant of marriage itself? It is written that the Lord blessed them, male and female, and said, “Be fruitful,” but He gave this blessing within the sacred bond of wedlock. I cannot ask the Lord to bless that which His Word calls fornication. How then can I pray that He would crown with a child a union that is not yet what He has ordained? He will not give a covenant blessing where covenant steps are set aside.

I do not speak this to wound, but to heal. The Lord’s mercies are very great, and He is ready to pardon. Flee to Christ for cleansing from every sin; for He has promised, “From all your filthiness will I cleanse you.” Bring your sins to the cross, and then make haste to marry, that you may be no longer living in disobedience. I pray that you may receive the personal blessing first, the blessing of a new heart, the removal of the stony heart, and the gift of a tender spirit that walks in His statutes. For He says, “I will bless you,” before “you shall be a blessing.” Get right with God in this matter, and then the prayer for a child will be a prayer that Heaven can answer without rebuke.

Should the Lord then grant your petition, take heed lest the child become an idol. How many a mother has cried in bitterness, “If I wished too eagerly for a babe, the Lord has smitten my idol!” It is a fearful mercy when God destroys our idols, but it is mercy still. Trust the child wholly to His hands. Even now, bless the Lord while you wait; let not one hour pass without praising Him who loads you with benefits. When He withholds, He does it in faithfulness. The blessing, if it come, will be from Him who made heaven and earth, and nothing is too hard for Him. But if it tarries, remember that His no is as full of love as His yes. In all things, let your soul bless the Lord, and let that blessed contentment be the sweetest foretaste of what shall hereafter be, when every desire shall be swallowed up in Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You long for a child; this is a natural and good yearning, but it must be sought in God’s own order, not outside the bounds He has set. You speak of a fiancé, yet you are already attempting to conceive. Do you not see that you have inverted the divine pattern? The marriage bed is honorable and undefiled, and children are a heritage from the Lord, but the union that is not yet sealed before the Church cannot claim the same blessing. If you truly desire offspring, let your first step be to enter into the covenant of marriage with reverence and chastity, and then make your prayer for a child.

Why do you fill your chamber with the smoke of worldly haste? As I have often said, the soul’s eye, when it feeds in the meadow of spiritual oracles, becomes clear and piercing, but when it departs into the smoke of the things of this life, it weeps without end. You are clouding your sight with a disordered passion, and then you ask for clear vision to pray rightly. First, clear the air: cease from conjugal relations until you are lawfully wed, and come to the Church as those who seek not just a babe, but sanctification.

Consider the poor who sit at the doors of the martyrs’ shrines and the church vestibules. They are placed there not only to receive alms but to teach us humility and to remind us that bodily desires must bow to the soul’s health. Do you see the aged and the maimed? They show you that life’s true treasure is not the fulfillment of every natural urge, but conformity to the will of God. Your request for a “healthy baby girl” is, in itself, innocent, but the context makes it a petition offered with unwashed hands. How can you expect to approach the spiritual fountain and ask for a blessing while disregarding the very gate of lawful marriage?

The Deacon cries out, “Holy things for the holy,” before the sacred mysteries, to search the faults of all. This call is a reminder that not every wish may be brought before the altar without self-examination. Are you living as those set apart? If you are not yet married in the Lord, then the act by which you hope to conceive is itself a transgression. I do not say this to wound you without cause, but to heal a sickness that would otherwise grow worse. Many who are healthy in their own eyes become infirm through carelessness, and many who acknowledge their sickness are restored by repentance.

Let your first prayer, then, be for a clean heart and a right spirit. Enter into marriage with the blessing of the Church, and then kneel together to ask for the fruit of the womb. That child, when it comes, will be a true blessing, and you will be able to bring it up “in the chastening and admonition of the Lord.” For what profit is a child if it is born into a household not yet fully surrendered to Christ? Better to be poor in offspring but rich in virtue than to gain the whole world and lose your own souls.

Do not think that my words are harsh; they are medicine. I would rather see a single household walking in the commandments than a multitude of children born into a union not yet made holy. So, put your house in order. Go to the priest, declare your intentions, and let your love be crowned with the sacrament of marriage. Then pray boldly for a child, and we will pray with you, that God may grant you a godly seed, raised for His glory and not for the fire.

May the Lord grant you wisdom to see that His will is your sanctification first, and that every good and perfect gift comes from above, upon those who approach Him in reverence and truth.
