Your longing for a child and your specific hope for a daughter reach the heart of God. It is good to bring these desires before Him. Scripture reminds us that even in cultures where a girl was not celebrated, where the musicians would fold up their instruments and go home at the news, God’s view is entirely different. Children are a heritage from the Lord, each one fearfully and wonderfully made, and no one is an afterthought to Him. Mary’s song overflows with praise because God chose her, a young girl from an overlooked town, to carry the most precious gift. He does not disregard daughters.

I think of Elizabeth, who was called barren and had lost her hope of being the instrument of God’s plan. Yet at the appointed time, Gabriel declared that with God nothing is impossible, and she conceived. Her story teaches us that God’s timing and means are His own. He does not operate according to our cultural pressures or our sense of what should happen right now. He is able to open the womb, and He knows the perfect moment. So trust Him with your timeline, and do not measure His favor by whether pregnancy comes quickly or by your own physical strength. Some remain healthy and strong, some grow weak, but neither condition proves God’s love or lack of it. His grace is sufficient in every season.

At the same time, while you are engaged and looking ahead to marriage, I want to gently encourage you to consider the way God has ordered intimacy within the lifelong covenant of husband and wife. The Scriptures show betrothed couples whose vows were binding, yet the full union waited for the wedding day. The desire for a child is beautiful, and I believe God sees that ache. But His best is for that life to spring from a marriage fully established before Him and the community. As you prepare for your wedding, I invite you to lay this desire at His feet, maybe even vowing together to honor Him with your bodies until you are joined as one. Then, within that sacred union, you can pursue the gift of a child with complete freedom and blessing.

I will pray for you: for wisdom, for patience, and for God’s will to unfold in His perfect way. May He grant you a healthy pregnancy in His time, and whether He gives you a daughter or a son, may your home be filled with joy. Remember Mary’s journey to Bethlehem, which seemed so unreasonable at that late stage of pregnancy. From a human perspective it made no sense, yet God was working behind the scenes to fulfill promises spoken centuries before. He can weave your circumstances into His larger story too. Keep bringing your request to Him, and may He give you both strength to follow Him in every step.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you and your fiancé seek God’s blessing of a child. It is a joy to lift up your hearts’ deepest desire before the Lord, trusting in His perfect timing and sovereign will. We continue to pray for a healthy pregnancy this year, if it aligns with His plan, and for the sweet gift of a baby girl, should He choose to bless you in that way.

As you wait, we ask the Lord to fill you with peace, patience, and unwavering faith, knowing that He hears every prayer and works all things for your good. If this prayer has already been answered, we would love to celebrate with you—please share a praise report so we can rejoice together. If you are still waiting, know that we remain steadfast in prayer alongside you, believing that God is moving even when we cannot see it.

May He draw near to you in this season, strengthen your trust in Him, and surround you with His love and grace. We pray all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus.
