Your request has been brought before the Lord with care, and we have weighed every word you have written in the light of the Word of God.
You long for fellowship, and that is a holy longing. True fellowship, as the Scripture teaches, is first fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, 1 John 1:3. There must be mutual communication between us and God. We must have heard the voice of God in our hearts and we must have spoken to God from our hearts, and we are reconciled to God by the death of His Son, healed of the soul destroying plague of sin. As you increase in the knowledge of the Father and of His Son through the revelation of the Divine Spirit, you will also increase your fellowship with Him, and you will become a co-worker with God, putting your hands to the great work which He has undertaken. All other fellowship, whether in the home or by video or in any other means, must flow from that fountain. If the heart is stayed upon Christ, there will be a spring of joy within that no distance can quench.
You ask for joy and laughter, for a cheerful heart, for wisdom and faith. These are good gifts, and the Father loves to give them. The Lord Jesus Himself rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, Luke 10:21, and He was anointed with the oil of gladness above His fellows, Psalm 45:7, Hebrews 1:9, because He loved righteousness and hated iniquity. Joy from His fullness, John 1:16, is not found apart from that same love of righteousness. A merry heart does good like a medicine, Proverbs 17:22, but the medicine keeps its virtue only when the heart is pure before God, Matthew 5:8. Therefore pursue peace and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord, Hebrews 12:14, and let all laughter and fun be in the Lord and not apart from Him.
You ask for a scheduled time with your son, and for the turning of hearts toward one another, Malachi 4:5-6, and for peace among the three of you. This is right to ask. The Lord is the Father of the fatherless, and He shows Himself strong in the defense of His children. He is the better Father who will be a Father to you and to your son, and who says, Suffer the little children to come unto Me. To train a child in the Scriptures, Deuteronomy 6:7, Ephesians 6:4, 2 Timothy 3:15-16, with mutual respect and honor, Ephesians 6:1-3, is a sacred trust. We pray that the Lord will order your times, Acts 17:26, Ecclesiastes 3:1, and open a door for that regular communion with your son which is consistent with peace, wisdom and the good order God loves. And we pray that the king's heart, and every heart, being as channels of water in the hand of the Lord, Proverbs 21:1, may be turned whatsoever way He wills, according to His Word and His holy discipline, Hebrews 12:6.
You pray for her, that she may find peace with God, a proper worldview, and a solid grasp of God's love in adoption, Romans 5:1-5. This is the chief thing to pray for. Perfect peace is not found in circumstances, nor in the keeping of duties, nor in nearness to loved ones, but in the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within. The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin, and that truth when believed becomes sweeter than the music of angels harps. He is the God of peace and He has on His part prepared everything that is necessary for a perfect reconciliation, 2 Corinthians 5:18. If she or you or any of us would find peace with God, we must cease from that which provokes Him. It is not reasonable to call Him Our Father and yet remain the servant of sin. If there is any way in your lives together that is not according to His holy institution of marriage as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, where alone the union of life and dwelling together belongs, we urge you in love to part with sin. Shake it off as Paul shook the viper into the fire, and cry to God, Deliver me from it, O Lord, by Your Son Jesus Christ. What would the world say if the children of God live as the world lives. We do not ask God to bless what He calls sin, for He cannot. We ask Him to bless you with repentance, with cleansing, with a new heart that loves what He loves and abhors what He abhors, that you may be restored.
You mention the clause of peace in 1 Corinthians 7:15. We hear the sorrow in that. The Lord does provide that if the unbelieving depart, the brother or sister is not under bondage, for God has called us to peace. Yet our first prayer must be for reconciliation and restoration, as with the prodigal who, when he came back and his father had kissed him, was to his father as if he had never gone away. There was music and dancing and they began to be merry. So God rejoices over a poor soul that has wandered far from Him but at last returns. And as Peter was restored not by a mere resolution but by the crowing of the cock and a look from the Lord Jesus that severed him from the crowd and broke his heart, so we pray the Lord will give that gracious look which brings godly sorrow and then abundant assurance through His Word. Till then, we pray for love to abound in knowledge and discernment, Philippians 1:9-11, for knowledge of His will, Colossians 1:9, and for wisdom which He gives liberally to those who ask in faith, James 1:5.
You ask for deliverance from deception, evil influences, evil people and the evil one, Matthew 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thessalonians 3:3. We join you there. The genuine love of God is manifested in this, that the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin, and when the Father saw His only begotten Son suffering even unto death, it made such an infinite impression upon His great soul that He forgets the sins for which His Son gave His life, Isaiah 43:25. Cast yourself and her and your son upon that blood. Bear your sorrow with Him, and you will find peace, perfect peace, even with sorrows surging round, even with loved ones far away, for in Jesus keeping we are safe, and they are safe.
Therefore we pray thus. O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, we thank You that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them unto babes, Matthew 11:25, and we ask that You would reveal Christ to each of these three souls. Grant that they may be reconciled to You through the death of Your Son, that they may have peace with You through our Lord Jesus Christ. Give them faith that comes by hearing Your Word, Romans 10:17, and patience to inherit the promises which are Yes and Amen in Jesus, Hebrews 6:12, 2 Corinthians 1:20. Grant protection from the evil one, from impostors and deceivers, 2 Timothy 3:5,13, Titus 1:16, and keep them from temptation. Turn hearts toward one another in righteousness, teach them to pray and worship and sing with pure hearts, and to walk in the light as You are in the light. If it be Your will, restore what has been broken and make this family a dwelling place of Your peace. If otherwise, keep Your servant in Your perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You, Isaiah 26:3, and let him do the will of Jesus, for this is rest. We ask in the name of Jesus, John 14:13-14, trusting that what we ask according to Your will You hear. Amen.
