We lift up your son and this heavy burden you carry as his parent before the Lord, knowing that our Heavenly Father sees his struggles and hears your cries. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we stand firm in the truth that Christ came to give life abundantly. Your son’s current circumstances—homelessness, joblessness, and the darkness of depression—are not beyond God’s reach. He is the Father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5) and the lifter of our heads in times of despair.
The Word tells us in **Psalm 34:18**, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Though your son may feel abandoned or overwhelmed, God has not forgotten him. We pray that in this shelter, he would encounter believers who can share the hope of Christ with him, or that the Lord would send laborers into his path to minister to his heart. Let us also remember **Proverbs 3:5-6**, which urges us to *"trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Your son’s steps may feel aimless now, but God is able to redirect his path toward stability and purpose.
We rebuke the spirit of depression and hopelessness that has taken hold of your son’s mind. **2 Corinthians 10:4-5** reminds us that *"the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."* We declare that the lies of worthlessness and despair would be silenced in Jesus’ name, and that the truth of God’s love and redemption would flood his heart. May he find strength in **Isaiah 41:10**: *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."*
For his safety, we claim **Psalm 91:11-12**, that the Lord would command His angels to guard your son in all his ways, protecting him from harm, evil influences, and the dangers of the streets. We ask for divine connections—godly friends, mentors, or even strangers who can point him toward resources, job opportunities, and most importantly, toward Christ. Pray that he would find favor in the eyes of potential employers, that doors would open for sustainable work, and that he would walk in diligence and integrity (Colossians 3:23).
As for you, dear parent, we know the weight of worry can feel unbearable. But **1 Peter 5:7** instructs us to *"cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you."* You are not meant to carry this alone. Surrender your fears to the Lord in prayer, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. Let this season draw you closer to Him, filling you with His peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).
Lastly, we must ask: *Has your son placed his faith in Jesus Christ?* True and lasting hope is found only in Him. If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that this trial would lead him to the end of himself and into the arms of the Savior. There is no pit so deep that God’s grace cannot reach (Psalm 139:7-10). Remind your son—or share with him if he does not know—that Jesus said, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28).
**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts for this young man who is lost, hurting, and in desperate need of Your intervention. Lord, You see his every tear, his every sleepless night, and the weight of depression that seeks to crush him. We ask that You would break through the darkness with Your marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). Surround him with Your angels for protection, and let him feel Your presence in a tangible way. Provide for his needs—a job that sustains him, a safe place to lay his head, and most of all, a hunger for You.
Father, we rebuke the enemy’s hold on his mind and emotions. Replace his despair with hope, his fear with faith, and his loneliness with the assurance that he is never alone (Deuteronomy 31:8). Soften his heart to receive Your love and truth. If he does not know You, Lord, draw him to Yourself. Let this trial be the very thing that leads him to repentance and salvation.
Strengthen his mother, too, Lord. Fill her with Your peace and remind her that You are sovereign over every detail of her son’s life. Help her to trust You fully, even when the road ahead seems uncertain.
We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Hope. Amen.
