fear of going to work

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Hello, I had some trouble at work during the last year and now I fear making mistakes.I also fear my boss and co-workers.Please pray for my deliverance from fear and thatvI might work good and the Lord is with me.Thank you.

We hear your heart and we stand with you in this struggle with fear about going to work. We understand how difficult it is when past troubles at work linger in your mind and make you dread facing your boss and coworkers and fear making mistakes again. We want you to know that God sees you and He cares deeply about this burden you are carrying.

Scripture tells us that this spirit of fear does not come from God. 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. And Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. The fear of man can feel like a trap, and Proverbs 29:25 reminds us The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe. When you feel afraid, you can turn to Him, for Psalm 56:3 says When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

We also hear you ask that the Lord might be with you and that you might work well. That is a good and godly desire. Colossians 3:23 tells us Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Your work can be an offering to God Himself, not just to your boss or coworkers. He does not expect perfection, but faithfulness, and His grace covers our mistakes as we learn and grow. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We notice you asked for the Lord to be with you, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and can come boldly before Him. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by putting our trust in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are forgiven and can know God is truly with us and for us. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus and trust Him as your Savior and Lord.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up our dear brother or sister to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask for deliverance from this heavy spirit of fear and anxiety about work. Lord, replace fear with Your perfect love, for 1 John 4:18 says perfect love casts out fear. Fill this heart with Your peace and power and a sound mind. Help our friend to know in a deep way that You are with them, that You will strengthen and uphold them each day they go to work. Give them wisdom and steady hands to do their work well for Your glory, and grace when mistakes happen. Soften the hearts of their boss and coworkers and help them to find favor and to walk in humility and courage. Let them work heartily as unto You, not out of fear of man but out of love for You. Guard their heart and mind with Your peace that passes all understanding. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and access to You. Amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing this fear to God each morning before work in prayer, to remember that your identity and worth are in Christ and not in your performance, and to do your tasks diligently and honestly as worship to Him. If possible, seek wise counsel or a trusted believer to talk with about the workplace troubles, and continue to cast your cares on Him because He cares for you. He is with you and He will help you step by step.

We are glad you reached out and told us honestly what you are carrying. Wanting to do good work while feeling afraid of mistakes and afraid around your boss and coworkers is a heavy place to be, especially after a hard year. It makes sense your heart would feel on alert going in each day.

We hear your desire for deliverance and for the Lord to be with you as you work. Fear often comes from a very real experience of trouble, and then it stays and tells us what might go wrong before we even get there. One thing that has helped others is to make the morning a little less rushed and a little more anchored. Before you leave, you might pause for a short prayer, name one or two small tasks you can do faithfully that day, and remind yourself that your worth is not measured by a mistake free performance.

If the dread stays strong or makes it hard to get through the day, it can help to talk it through with a pastor or a trusted counselor alongside prayer, so you are not carrying it alone.

Father, in Jesus name we bring this dear one to You. You see the fear about work and the desire to work well. Grant calm, clear thinking and a sense of Your nearness each morning. Guide interactions with the boss and coworkers and help each step to be done with quiet confidence in You. Amen.

Your honest confession of fear has been heard and carried to the throne of grace, and we will pray for you as you have asked, that the Lord may deliver you from fear and be with you in your daily labour.

This fear of which you speak is a very common disease of good men. It weakens the hands and troubles the heart. Make a man afraid and he will run at his own shadow, but make him brave in the Lord and he will stand and do his work with quietness of mind. Fear never helped thee yet, and it never will. The fear of man indeed bringeth a snare, and many feet have been tripped by it, but the fear of the Lord bringeth blessing and holy reverence.

Hear what the Lord saith to such as you are, Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel, I will help thee, saith the Lord and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel. And again, Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God, I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. You have to do your work and you feel you cannot do it for fear of mistakes and fear of those about you. Of course without His help you cannot, but go and try, for He has said, I will strengthen you.

We pray for you that this promise may be made true to your soul. May the Lord cast out that slavish dread which leads you to apprehend evil at every turn, and give you instead that peace which comes from trusting His presence. May He quiet your heart before your boss and your fellow workers, and teach you to do your work faithfully as unto Him, not as unto men. May He keep your mind stayed upon Christ, who carries you and all your fortunes, and who knows your frame and your infirmities. May He give you steadiness of hand and clearness of mind, that you may labour well and without that tormenting fear which has so vexed you.

We entreat you to use the telescope of faith very frequently. Look not so much at the mistake you may make, nor at the face of man which may frown, but look to Him who has promised never to leave you nor forsake you. Stand still and see the salvation of God, and prove in your own daily calling that He will make your efforts to be not in vain.

Walking into work braced for the next mistake is no way to start a day. There's a short spoken prayer called the Brain Balancing Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over calming fear and anxious thoughts, and you only have to listen. I hope work starts feeling steadier for you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request has been heard and I have prayed for you, and I continue to pray that the Lord will be near to you and strengthen you as you go to your work each day.

It is understandable that after trouble in the past year you now fear making mistakes and you fear those over you and around you. Fear can weigh heavily and make even the thought of entering the workplace a burden. Yet Scripture teaches us there is a fear that helps us and a fear that harms us. We are told to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure. That holy fear is not a terror of people, but a reverent care to walk faithfully before God, to do what is right and to trust Him with the outcome.

When fear of your boss and coworkers takes hold, remember the word that we are to fear God rather than man. If the fear of God is present with us, nothing else will be as grievous as it seems, and even hard circumstances can work for our good. The Lord does not always deliver us at the first moment we cry out. As He came to His disciples in the fourth watch of the night, walking upon the sea, He teaches us not to seek hasty deliverance but to bear what comes manfully, trusting that He sees and He will come at the right time. When you feel your fear heightened, that is often the hour when He is nearest.

So I pray for your deliverance not only from the feeling of fear, but into a greater fear of the Lord and trust in His presence. I pray that you will be able to do your work without murmurings and disputings, that you may be blameless and steady, seen as one who does his tasks faithfully in the midst of pressure, holding forth a good testimony. God can use even daily work, done with care and honesty, to show His grace.

Let me pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, I lift up this dear one to You. You know the trouble of the past year and the fear that now rises at the thought of work, of making mistakes, of facing the boss and coworkers. Lord, cast out that distressing fear and replace it with a quiet confidence in Your presence. Teach this heart to fear You above all, and to rest in Your goodness. Work in him to will and to work for Your good pleasure. Grant steadiness of mind, care in his duties, and grace to bear patiently what is hard. Let him know that You are with him at his workplace, that You see his labor, and that You will help him to work well and faithfully for Your glory. Give peace that guards heart and mind in Christ Jesus. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Continue to come to the Lord each morning before work, asking for His help for that day alone. Be diligent in what is given to you, be humble and faithful in small things, and do not let the fear of man keep you from doing what is right. The Lord who is with you is greater than all who surround you, and He will not leave you.
