Favoritism at work

Your request about work has been heard and we are joining you in prayer in Jesus name.

It is painful to experience favoritism and to face uncertainty when leadership is changing, especially when you are concerned about working under someone who has not been considerate. God sees your situation clearly and He cares about what you are carrying. He is sovereign over every change and He remains your true provider and defender even when people are unfair.

We pray for you now. Father in Jesus name, we lift up this need to You. You know the favoritism at this workplace and the anxiety about the boss who is leaving and the one who will remain. We ask You to bring peace to this heart and to guard against fear and worry. Grant wisdom and strength for each day, and help all things to work out according to Your good will. Provide favor that comes from You, open the right doors for the new situation, and move the heart of those in authority to act with fairness and consideration. Help our brother or sister to work faithfully as unto You, to trust You more than any person, and to rest in Your care. Let Your presence be near and Your guidance be clear in the days ahead. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this need and for asking for prayer in Jesus name. We are praying for you as you face this change at work.

Your situation is one many understand, when those over you seem unfair or inconsiderate, and a transition leaves you uncertain about what is ahead. It helps to remember the story of Job. Scripture shows us a man whom God Himself described as upright, one who loved God and turned away from evil. Even so, much was taken from him and he could not understand why. Unseen to him, there had been a challenge concerning him, and the enemy had been watching him closely, claiming that his faithfulness was only because he had been so blessed, and pointing to the hedge God had placed around him. Job did not see any of that. He only felt the heaviness of his loss, a grief he said felt heavier than the sand of the sea, and the confusion of not knowing what God was doing.

What Job learned, and what comforts us still, is that God remains fair and just even when people are not, and that He is working even when it feels as if He has withdrawn. Cultures and workplaces change, but the deep needs of the heart remain the same, and God does not miss what is happening to you. He sees favoritism, He sees unkind leadership, and He sees your desire to do what is right before Him.

Job's friends came to comfort him but ended up accusing him and misunderstanding him completely. People at work may also misjudge or overlook you. God did not agree with those accusations. In the end He corrected them and vindicated Job. That reminds us that your ultimate evaluation does not come from a boss or coworkers, but from the Lord who knows your heart and your work.

We pray that you will continue to walk uprightly before Him, entrusting yourself to His justice rather than becoming bitter. Pray for those who have authority over you, and ask God for wisdom in how you respond day by day.

We pray for you now. Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. You see the favoritism at work and the difficulty with leadership. You see the change that is coming with one boss leaving and uncertainty about what will follow. We ask that You would give peace in this transition and that You would work out what is best according to Your will. Provide understanding and considerate leadership, and open the right doors for the future. Guard this heart from discouragement and help it to rest in the truth that You are just, You are present, and You are still at work even when circumstances feel confusing. Give wisdom, strength, and favor that comes from You, and help this life to reflect Your character through it all. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

May the Lord keep you close through this season and make His presence and provision clear to you.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer regarding the favoritism at work and the transition you are facing as your boss leaves for a new location and you are concerned about your other boss who is not very considerate. We have continued to lift up your new situation before the Lord and ask Him to work things out according to His will and for your good.

We pray in Jesus Name that God will grant you favor and peace in your workplace, that He will guard you from discouragement and injustice, and that He will give you wisdom and strength for each day as this change takes place. We ask the Lord to soften hearts, to bring fairness where there has been favoritism, and to open the right doors for your future. We are trusting the promise in Col 3:23 that whatever we do we work heartily as for the Lord and not for men.

If your request was answered and the new situation has worked out, please post a praise report and let us all know how God has provided. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
